Prayer Requests 6-30-18

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 119:153-160

ר Resh

153 Look on my suffering and deliver me,
    for I have not forgotten your law.
154 Defend my cause and redeem me;
    preserve my life according to your promise.
155 Salvation is far from the wicked,
    for they do not seek out your decrees.
156 Your compassion, Lord, is great;
    preserve my life according to your laws.
157 Many are the foes who persecute me,
    but I have not turned from your statutes.
158 I look on the faithless with loathing,
    for they do not obey your word.
159 See how I love your precepts;
    preserve my life, Lord, in accordance with your love.
160 All your words are true;
    all your righteous laws are eternal.

  1. We found a bunch of tools and things hidden under the old tack shed. Seems ten year old is a pack rat. That is another name for stealing. Wisdom on dealing with that.

  2. I’m going to try to explain this request carefully. We’re hurting in my neighborhood.

    A small tract house beside a park three blocks away has been meticulously repaired with beautiful results. I’ve been so impressed, I thought about leaving a note in the mailbox saying so.

    Last Sunday, the owners hosted a party for several neighbors. About 8 o’clock, the owner’s father arrived carrying a rifle. He had driven from Colorado looking for his estranged wife. The divorce will be final this week.

    A neighbor answered the door, saw the gun, blocked the door and the father shot him dead.

    The father than rampaged into the house shooting, hit his son in the leg near an artery and grazed his grandson’s face. The father then turned the gun on his head and shot.

    When the SWAT team arrived–which featured the son of a friend–they saw the Colorado car was boobytrapped. Obviously, the father intended more damage than he was able to pull off.

    Please pray for the family who lost their 43 year old husband/father/coach/neighbor/friend. My son’s family knew the man and his family, as do several other we know.

    Please pray for the family of the perpetrator. How can you possibly return to that house of carnage?

    Please pray for the neighbors–what do you make of attending a party held by a neighbor and dying as a result?

    The killer survived and is getting the best care possible in the state of California owing to the nature of his wounds.

    I don’t know where to put all this, other than one more grief and sadness. I’m not the issue, however, it’s all the survivors, their families and the neighbors.

  3. Oh, Michelle, that is so horrible! Prayers for all and, yes, you are grieving too. Just in a different way. What a sad state of affairs for so many!

  4. What a hideously selfish man that killer is.

    As for the medical care that killer is receiving, that is one of the first things one learns as a healthcare worker, everyone receives the treatment they need, no matter what they are or what they have done. Even convicted serial killers serving a life sentence are treated in hospital when they need it.

    This quiet neighbourhood very recently experienced a murder. It was, yet again, a domestic murder, with the man murdering the woman. It hurts to think of her dying alone and in terror, not very far from our own peaceful place.

  5. Michelle, I read with horror what happened near you. I don’t know why people do crazy things like this. I also don’t know the solution. I am so sorry for you, for these people, and for your community.

  6. Please say a little prayer for my lower back, particularly the right side. It’s been feeling a little touchy the last couple days, especially today. It feels a bit better now, after having taken some ibuprofen earlier, but I am hoping it really is getting better.
