Prayer Requests 12-15-17

It’s Friday, so please remember to pray for Mumsee, Mike, and the Nestlings.

Anyone else?

Psalm 119:73-80

73 Your hands made me and formed me;
    give me understanding to learn your commands.
74 May those who fear you rejoice when they see me,
    for I have put my hope in your word.
75 I know, Lord, that your laws are righteous,
    and that in faithfulness you have afflicted me.
76 May your unfailing love be my comfort,
    according to your promise to your servant.
77 Let your compassion come to me that I may live,
    for your law is my delight.
78 May the arrogant be put to shame for wronging me without cause;
    but I will meditate on your precepts.
79 May those who fear you turn to me,
    those who understand your statutes.
80 May I wholeheartedly follow your decrees,
    that I may not be put to shame.

  1. Turmoil of emotions over here and seeking God’s will, as I have been on this subject for some time.

    I fell apart yesterday in the middle of a perfectly reasonable business discussion with my daughter-in-law. It had nothing to do with her, and she said the classic words, “I don’t know why you’re taking this burden upon yourself. You should be writing, not worrying about this.”

    Echoed an hour later by my husband.

    I have a bunch of decisions to make and am trying to follow my husband’s advice, quoting OC, “If you don’t know the answer, tarry until you have peace.”

    It feels like that may be awhile, meanwhile others are waiting for the answer and time is ticking by.

    Have a wonderful weekend.

  2. Michelle, I pray for understanding for you about why you fell apart over whatever. I remember once getting so upset with my dad’s response to one of my daughter’s fears. Later, I realized that my parents had a way of diminishing my feelings and it upset me to have them do the same to my daughter. She was not wrong to feel as she did. She was not acting out or anything like that. I had to learn not to diminish my own feelings and those of others. Ironically, I now see family members diminishing my mom’s feelings and it upsets me. In no way am I advocating letting feelings take precedence or used for decision making. Still, our feelings are not invalid, necessarily.

    Perhaps, something similar is underneath why you reacted as you did. Or, perhaps, you are simply still in grief or what happened in the October Event. You lived through something over which you had little, and sometimes, no control. Perhaps you are just trying to micromanage or control everything.

    Praying the Holy Spirit will give you the peace and wisdom you need and those around you, too.

  3. Please pray for us as we fight this infection. Miguel has an appointment this afternoon with his PCP. I got an rx yesterday from one if our ER docs. I started Connor and Trey on zithromax. Hoping they give Miguel a shot to jump start the healing. We have drunk so much medicine tea and vitamin c. I started eating fresh garlic yesterday to help with the sore throat. I should never have to worry about vampires, or any live people, either, getting close enough to catch another germ. We have done the honey, lemon, whiskey cough medicine, and the mucinex. We have to make a trip to odessa on monday, so hope to all be feeling better by then, with well,hopefully, before Christmas. Thank you for your prayers.

  4. Continuing to pray for you, Michelle, and for you and your family, RK, both in my private prayers and in both of the ladies’ Bible studies I attend. They are well-acquainted with your names now.

    Kizzie, yours, too — though we do use your real name. 🙂

    I would like to request prayers for my mother-in-law. Tomorrow she moves in with my brother-in-law, who lives about a mile from her house. So she will still be in her same rural community, but will be leaving the home she’s lived in for the past fifty years. She does not really want to go, but did reluctantly agree to after at least two of her children expressed concerns about her safety in the old house. She still climbs the steep hardwood stairs to her second-floor bedroom every night, and back down again in the morning to head to the kitchen and living area. She’s 82 years old, and while she has not fallen, her situation is an accident waiting to happen the older she gets.

    Please pray for the move to go well, and for her as she navigates this major life transition. Thank you.

  5. I have another prayer request, for those who may want to pray. It is on behalf of a young woman I do not personally know, but who I heard about when a friend made a prayer request today at Bible study.

    My friend’s friend’s daughter, J, has been in an abusive relationship with her boyfriend. J is now hospitalized after her boyfriend got so angry with her, he shoved her into a wall. She has back and facial injuries, and he pushed so hard, there is an imprint of the side of her face in the drywall. My friend, and her friend (J’s mother) are obviously horrified by what happened. (There were other abuses before, both involving J and a previous girlfriend, as well, J’s parents have now learned about the guy.)

    Please join me in prayer for this young woman, and for the young man, as you are led. Thanks.

  6. Nightingale will be driving home tonight in light snow. That doesn’t sound so bad, but the road conditions are expected to be slippery. Please pray for a safe trip home, & then a safe trip back to work again in the early morning. (She’s working 2nd shift tonight & 1st shift tomorrow.) Thank you.
