Prayer Requests 8-22-17

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 14

The fool says in his heart,
    “There is no God.”
They are corrupt, their deeds are vile;
    there is no one who does good.

The Lord looks down from heaven
    on all mankind
to see if there are any who understand,
    any who seek God.
All have turned away, all have become corrupt;
    there is no one who does good,
    not even one.

Do all these evildoers know nothing?

They devour my people as though eating bread;
    they never call on the Lord.
But there they are, overwhelmed with dread,
    for God is present in the company of the righteous.
You evildoers frustrate the plans of the poor,
    but the Lord is their refuge.

Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion!
    When the Lord restores his people,
    let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad!

  1. Stargazer leaves on Saturday. He’s flying off with two duffel bags and leaving the rest of his possessions with us to send.(WHAT?)

    I knew this was coming and I know it’s the right thing, but this mother’s heart is so very sad.

    He’s going to Seattle and has found a room with some people a fair distance from where he wants to be, but within train distance of UW where he hopes to pick up tutoring gigs while he hunts “on the ground” for the work he wants to do.

    “They” say a mother is only as happy as her most unhappy child. My heart is heavy.

  2. My uncle has died. Thanks for any prayers sent on his or his family’s behalf. I hope the funeral will be at a time my husband can come with me. He has some playing gigs planned. It is difficult to not go when others are relying on him.

  3. My wife’s company is on lock down. Nobody in, and the several hundred in the building are unable to leave. This is due to an abusive spouse of a cafeteria worker. He’s made threats to her and the company before, and now has again. Last week they added security at all entrances due to his behavior.

    If you would be so kind, please pray the situation resolves peacefully and that the man responsible would be apprehended. Thanks.

  4. I’ll probably mention this tomorrow, too, but in case I don’t get here until later in the day, I’ll mention it now.

    Tomorrow Hubby is having his two tests, a CT scan & a bone scan, to determine if the cancer has spread. (Due to Hubby’s high PSA numbers, from the beginning, the oncologist suspects the cancer is hiding.) Please pray they find nothing that shouldn’t be there.

    It has been 12 years since he was first diagnosed with prostate cancer. His initial PSA was high enough that the doctor believed the cancer had already metastasized out of the prostate, even though it hasn’t shown up anywhere else yet. So the prostate was not removed, but treated with radiation, then hormone treatment was used to bring down the PSA. The numbers stayed within normal levels until the past couple years, when he then started the hormone treatment (kind of a different form of chemotherapy) again. But now that does not seem to be working.

    Trying not to be scared.

  5. Praying for all, Michelle, RK (and praising!), Kathaleena, AJ and Kizzie.

    AJ, any news on the situation at your wife’s workplace? Praying in the meanwhile.

  6. My daughter has made it to 34 weeks of pregnancy. The baby may come soon, so that is another thing on my mind.

    Praying all is well for AJ’s wife and her fellow workers.

  7. The funeral will be Friday, which is the only day this week we both have free. I am so glad.

    The things you learn in obits: I had no idea one of my uncle’s duties in Europe after the war was driving lawyers to the Nuremburg Trials from his station in Bremerhaven. He also occasionally gave rides to Jews trying to return to the new Israeli Nation.

  8. I’m glad that worked out, Kathaleena (the timing of the funeral). And thankful for your daughter’s getting to 34 weeks. Every bit longer helps.
