Prayer Requests 7-15-17

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 130

Out of the depths I cry to you, Lord;
Lord, hear my voice.
    Let your ears be attentive
    to my cry for mercy.

If you, Lord, kept a record of sins,
    Lord, who could stand?
But with you there is forgiveness,
so that we can, with reverence, serve you.

I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits,
and in his word I put my hope.
I wait for the Lord
more than watchmen wait for the morning,
more than watchmen wait for the morning.

Israel, put your hope in the Lord,
for with the Lord is unfailing love
and with him is full redemption.
He himself will redeem Israel
    from all their sins.

  1. This could go on the R&R thread, but I posted the original request here.

The adoption snafu I mentioned some time ago about Mary & Tom adopting an orphan girl (Ellie) from China has apparently been settled. They have been approved and Tom and Mary leave on 27 July for China. They plan to come back with Ellie.

  2. That is the best news I have heard all day!
Isn’t Ellie missing a portion of one of her arms? I don’t know if I told you this or not, but our back yard neighbors when I was in high school/college had a daughter who was missing the lower portion of her left arm just below the elbow. My dad sat on the back deck and watched her climb trees, convinced she was going to get hurt and he was going to have to take care of her because obviously her parents were too dumb to keep her from climbing trees with only 1 1/2 arms. Finally he worked up his courage to speak to the mother and tell her he was a Mason and could get them to the Shrine Hospital where they could get some help. The mother explained that they knew before the daughter was born that part of her arm was missing and that she had been under doctor’s care since birth. She just didn’t like to wear her prosthesis.
Several years ago I ran into the mother and asked about the daughter. She had recently gotten married. During the wedding ceremony the priest explained to congregation that the groom had chosen to wear his wedding ring on his right hand to match his bride. 🙂

  3. One of my cousins had a son who was born with one arm missing just below the elbow. They don’t know exactly what caused it, but it might have been amniotic band syndrome, which can cause growth restrictions of limbs in utero. He was given a prosthetic but he rarely wore it. He could climb trees and other things no problem. He has grown into a handsome and intelligent young man, is married, and is studying to be an aid worker.

  4. Heavenly Father,

You are so great and mighty, way beyond what humans can fully fathom. You create an atmosphere of awe by allowing humans to enter into the intimacy of prayer through the leading of Jesus. No other entity or lesser “god” desires the company and communion with humans as You do simply because You created humans. We are so fortunate when we recognize You as God and know You as the greatest force in our lives. You are worthy of all glory, honor, and praise.

I ask forgiveness of sins, of anything that might be a blockage between me and You and that would keep You from hearing and acting on my prayer. May Your will be done. May my prayers be in agreement with Your word in the Bible.

Lord? we as humans sure have messed up this world. We have mot paid enough attention to Your word to fully understand the best way to live. Help us to be wise in knowledge of You and Your ways. Help us to use what we know of You to spread Your Good News in ways to make people feel more loved than judged up front so they will be open to turning from sin. I pray for people in our families and neighborhoods, cities and towns, states and nations to hunger and thirst for righteousness. I pray for children and young people to desire understanding of Jesus and what He means to their lives. I know You want all people to be saved. I pray for more to be saved right away and for those to help others to find their meaning in Jesus.

Thank You for hearing my various prayers whether written by hand or spoken with my mouth or silently issued from my heart. May You bless all my friends on this blog according to their individual needs. I especially lift up No for traveling mercies, and Kbells for healing. Please help 6 Arrows with all she had going on. In Jesus’ name, Amen

  5. The teenager from yesterday:

Update 3: S has been discharged from the hospital! They were briefly concerned about diabetes insipidus, but those concerns were dispelled quickly. His hormone levels look good, and his neurological tests are all normal thus far. His surgeon has reviewed the MRIs again and says he’s very pleased with the post-op hamartoma anatomy. I couldn’t tell you the details of what that means, exactly, but a happy surgeon makes me happy.

  6. And CR is boarding the plane in Rwanda. I’ll meet her on the other end . . . in about 32 hours if all the flights are on time. She’s got a lot of flying, a lot of sitting around in airports, and has already done that all day.

Please pray for safe flights. Kigali–Addis Ababa–Dublin–DC–home.

  7. Small request here: Yesterday I accidentally kicked the wheel on my chaise and at the very least dislocated my little toe (it was bent in the middle at right angles to the side!!) I quickly pulled it straight but instead of a pop, it was like multiple crunches – ew. Please pray it heals quickly and isn’t actually broken as I am on my feet a lot during the week, but especially Sundays at camper check in.
