Prayer Requests 5-17-17

It’s Wednesday, so don’t forget to pray for The Gambia, and for Ajisuun as well.

Anyone else?

Psalm 76

God is renowned in Judah;
    in Israel his name is great.
His tent is in Salem,
    his dwelling place in Zion.
There he broke the flashing arrows,
    the shields and the swords, the weapons of war.

You are radiant with light,
    more majestic than mountains rich with game.
The valiant lie plundered,
    they sleep their last sleep;
not one of the warriors
    can lift his hands.
At your rebuke, God of Jacob,
    both horse and chariot lie still.

It is you alone who are to be feared.
    Who can stand before you when you are angry?
From heaven you pronounced judgment,
    and the land feared and was quiet—
when you, God, rose up to judge,
    to save all the afflicted of the land.
10 Surely your wrath against mankind brings you praise,
    and the survivors of your wrath are restrained.

11 Make vows to the Lord your God and fulfill them;
    let all the neighboring lands
    bring gifts to the One to be feared.
12 He breaks the spirit of rulers;
    he is feared by the kings of the earth.

  1. Thank you for the prayers for good sleep last night. I slept reasonably well, despite thunderstorms. Very minimal mouth pain after taking the ibuprofen with food last night, but the stomach ache returned, so I will not be using any more of that. Applying ice brings temporary relief.

    Finger hurts again this morning. Don’t really know what’s going on with that. I have a two-hour practice session blocked off for this afternoon at the concert venue. I will write alternate fingerings into my music to remind myself to avoid using that finger. Hoping my brain will be fully in the game as I practice today…perform tomorrow night…teach the kids…teach piano…etc. & etc. I don’t want to be drugged up, and hope I won’t be dealing with a level of pain that makes concentration on anything else hard, like it was over the weekend.

    Thank you for prayers.

  2. Prayers are working…another opportunity popped up and I applied. I still want the right thing to work out. Casting a wide net, is probably good though, right?

  3. Continued prayer for you 6….thankful you got some sleep…and praying all this mess will scoot out of your life quickly…who has time for this kind of yuck anyway??!!! 😛
    The call was good…and I was confident in the counsel I spoke in advising her to call younger sister and communicating with her. Ummmm…that didn’t go well and little sister wants to have nothing to do with older sister at this point. I found myself apologizing to both this morning for putting in my oar…I had just wanted open communication and that just ain’t gonna happen! The enemy does so love to sow strife and discord…and unfortunately he has no problem in finding willing participants!

  4. Heavenly Father,

    Thank You for the many ways You have of answering prayers. We ask with a certain answer or hope in mind, and You answer as You see best. Please help our desires to line up with Your will and may our requests always be made with the thought of glorifying You as the ultimate goal.

    Thank You for AJ and how he dedicates himself to keep this blog up and running daily. He and his efforts have been a daily gift to each of us. Thank You for taking care of His family and bringing Cheryl back to better health after her accident. Thank You for allowing them to homeschool, and for the many benefits Liz received from that. Please bless their new adventure with three cats in the home.

    Thank You for Kim’s interview and the positive words she needed to hear. If this will be the situation you have planned for her benefit and for Your glory, please let her hear quickly with little waiting and wondering.

    I ask that You would show 6 Arrows the path to healing and safe pain reduction if that must be a part of her road to wellness. You know how she honors You with her service to family, to her students, and with her music and words. Please help her in this public time of need. Show her what to do whether in pain or not. Guide her as You want, and help her rely fully on You. Be her strength in weakness. May the healing power of Jesus Christ flood out whatever is creating these bodily ailments. If stress held within her body is the culprit, I pray the grip of stress will relax and be replaced by Your total peace and comfort. Thank You for covering her with Your unique ways of fixing what ails humans.

    Lord, I lift up Nancyjill and her family members. You have gifted her with peacemaking abilities. I pray that You will allow the others to listen and respond wisely to her suggestions. May movement toward mature actions by all involved bring a sense of this is how families are suppose to handle these type situations. Thank You for the wisdom shared by blog family here that is so affirming and helpful. We all benefit from the words shared. We feel Your heart opening to us as we read words to one that benefits us all. I pray for the best in all. In Jesus, Amen

  6. Hubby called home from work. A tornado hit our general area. Youngest four kids are in the basement of the school where 4th Arrow has driver’s training. I’m home alone; piano student just left, headed out of the warning area. (We didn’t know about the tornado.) Prayers for safety please. Thanks.

  7. Thank you, NancyJill. Everyone’s safe. Kids are home now. Student is where she should be. The tornado I heard about from hubby was about 4 miles south of where we live. The kids were in the community about 10 miles south of us. There didn’t appear to be any structural damage in the areas the kids drove through on their way home, which would be very close to where the tornado apparently was.

    Praising God for His hand of protection on all of us. Tornado watches continue until 11:00 tonight, as well as severe thunderstorm watches and more potential for flash flooding. Thank you for your continued prayers this evening.

  9. Thank you again for all the prayers. The severe thunderstorm warning that was to end at 8:00 got extended to 8:45, and we ended up hunkering down in the basement a couple times between 7:30 and 8:30, but fared fine. Tornado watch for about an hour and a half yet. Everything’s calm now…

    There are reports of some structural damage, and trees down on campers, but no reported injuries, thankfully.

    God was certainly with us today. I was not thinking like I should, and we were off our usual routine, and the last thing on my mind was what’s the weather forecast for today. Piano lesson was three hours earlier than usual; practicing piano was 10 miles away instead of in my own living room; distractions with my dental issues; all the kids gone, to driver’s training or the library, so I’d silenced all the phones so they wouldn’t be ringing during the piano lesson, and I saw later that I’d gotten seven calls between 5:12 and 5:20 — three from my student’s mom (lesson ending at 5:15), two from 3rd Arrow, to tell me they were all sheltering at the high school, and two from my husband, to tell me he’d heard from 3rd Arrow, and about the local tornado. And I had no clue about any of this until my student left at 5:25 and I saw all those calls had come in at a critical time.

    Thanking God tonight for His incredible mercy on all of us in our various places and states of awareness, or lack thereof.

  10. Janice, what a lovely prayer. Thank you.

    All’s very quiet here, as everyone has gone to bed, and all the bad weather seems to have moved on. There is a tornado watch for my daughter’s (2nd Arrow’s) area still in effect, though — until 1:00 a.m. Central. If anyone sees this in the next couple hours, I’d be grateful for prayers for her.

    Praying for all above in the stillness. God is good, an ever-present help in trouble.

    Many thanks for your prayer support, friends.
