Prayer Requests 5-5-17

It’s Friday, so please remember to pray for Mumsee, Mike, and the Nestlings.

Anyone else?

Psalm 62

Truly my soul finds rest in God;
    my salvation comes from him.
Truly he is my rock and my salvation;
    he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.

How long will you assault me?
    Would all of you throw me down—
    this leaning wall, this tottering fence?
Surely they intend to topple me
    from my lofty place;
    they take delight in lies.
With their mouths they bless,
    but in their hearts they curse.

Yes, my soul, find rest in God;
    my hope comes from him.
Truly he is my rock and my salvation;
    he is my fortress, I will not be shaken.
My salvation and my honor depend on God;
    he is my mighty rock, my refuge.
Trust in him at all times, you people;
    pour out your hearts to him,
    for God is our refuge.

Surely the lowborn are but a breath,
    the highborn are but a lie.
If weighed on a balance, they are nothing;
    together they are only a breath.
10 Do not trust in extortion
    or put vain hope in stolen goods;
though your riches increase,
    do not set your heart on them.

11 One thing God has spoken,
    two things I have heard:
“Power belongs to you, God,
12     and with you, Lord, is unfailing love”;
and, “You reward everyone
    according to what they have done.”

  1. I would appreciate prayers for wisdom. One of my boys in class has been hitting and jumping on others during recess. I feel that I can no longer trust him and that his heart is hard. Pray for a breakthrough. I have written him up and the admin is aware of the problem. I have also spoken to the parents.

  2. My friend L had her 3rd chemo treatment Wednesday. This is the day it usually hits her and she starts getting sick, dehydrated, and ends up in the ER. Please pray for her today. Her home health nurse is coming to push some fluids and something else to try to get her through it without a trip to the hospital. Please remember her in your prayers today.

  3. Here’s another prayer request for Hubby. He often has cramps in his calves & feet at night, very painful ones. The other night, when he got out of bed to try to stretch one out (that was in both legs), he at first could only stand on his toes, his feet were so badly cramped.

    (After looking into it a bit, he thinks those particular cramps could have been a reaction to the cortisone shot he had in his shoulder the other day.)

    He has tried different methods of dealing with them, but so far, nothing has helped. Last night, he had them occurring throughout the night, sometimes three in an hour, so he is exhausted today. Please pray he’ll get a good, healing night’s sleep tonight, & for healing of whatever causes the cramps. Thank you.

  5. Thanks, ladies. I’ll be passing any suggestions on to him. (He does take a magnesium supplement, but hasn’t tried quinine yet.

  6. Isn’t quinine banned? I know some people who swear by a spoonful of mustard before going to bed.

  7. Kathaleena, The last time I bought tonic water and looked at the ingredients it still had quinine. It may have been removed.
    Tonic water (or Indian tonic water) is a carbonated soft drink in which quinine is dissolved. Originally used as a prophylactic against malaria, tonic water usually now has a significantly lower quinine content and is consumed for its distinctive bitter flavour.
    Of course I also found this:
    Is tonic water good for leg cramps?
    The doctor-prescribed dose to prevent leg cramps has been between 200 and 300 mg. A liter of tonic contains around 83 mg of quinine. … You would have to drink about 10 glasses to get the dose of quinine that doctors used to prescribe to prevent leg cramps.Jan 23, 2014

  8. Hyland’s has a remedy called ‘Leg Cramps’ I keep a bottle next to my bed to deal with leg cramps in the night. You dissolve two tablets under your tongue and that usually takes care of the cramps for the night.
