1 In you, Lord, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame; deliver me in your righteousness. 2 Turn your ear to me, come quickly to my rescue; be my rock of refuge, a strong fortress to save me. 3 Since you are my rock and my fortress, for the sake of your name lead and guide me. 4 Keep me free from the trap that is set for me, for you are my refuge. 5 Into your hands I commit my spirit; deliver me, Lord, my faithful God.
Hi there, wanderers…
Thanks so much for your prayers for Lindsey. She didn’t go to school yesterday–but was able to get a lot of make-up work done, so she is improving. (It was the first time she was able to complete schoolwork without developing a severe headache). Her plan, as of last night, was to attempt to attend school today until 12:30 when she’ll need to leave to meet me at her appointment for vestibular therapy. I looked up what “vestibular” means….and still can’t imagine what she will be doing in therapy…..but the concussion specialist thinks it’ll help–so we are going.
My cousin Bill, who was hit in the crosswalk several weeks ago, goes to the doctor today where he may get more information about how his (badly) broken leg is healing following the surgery. Although they told him they won’t really know the long-term prognosis for another 6-8 weeks or so, pray that there might be some positive signs they can see today to encourage him. He’s a pretty “up” kind of person anyway, but this obviously could have a serious impact on the rest of his life and activity level (he’s very active).
Continued prayers for Lindsey and you Ann….(and trusting our Lord to draw her close to Himself in the journey) ❤
Lifting up your cousin Donna…sometimes these events in our lives make us slow down when we otherwise would not….trusting the Lord's plan in it all!
Update on Kaitlyn: The oncologist came to see her on Friday and was visibly upset and crying as she told Kaitlyn that they are doing all they can butt her body is starting to shut down, she is no longer processing fluids and proteins well and her lungs continue to die. She is on as much oxygen as the hospital can provide. Kaitlyn signed a DNR.
Oh Kare we continue to lift Kaitlyn up in our prayers and petitions…may she experience His presence surrounding her, trusting fully in His tender care for her ❤
Here at the house, the small folk and I are going through Francis Schaffer’s 25 Bible Studies. It is good stuff. I try to go through them about once a year and it is fun to do it with children who are so enthusiastic about the things of the Lord. Prayer that God would continue to work in their hearts through His Word and draw them into a solid relationship with Him.
Pray that the sewer pipes being unearthed today are good — or that the ones that need to be replaced are high up on the driveway. Apparently as the driveway drops down to the sidewalk, the pipes go very deep and would require the city & a full-fledged contractor to become involved, a much more expensive prospect going forward. We’ll know more in a couple hours.
Ann, I was able to find a study which described vestibular rehabilitation. I could only access it through the school databases, so I can’t share it, but here is a quick summary.
The vestibular cortex is a section of the brain that controls conscious awareness – basically, it tells you where your head is in space, via signals from the vestibule of the inner ear. Understandably, this area can be damaged from a concussion. It would seem that vestibular rehabilitation was developed by the military. Initial studies indicate that it does lead to improvement. The therapy uses several exercises to retrain the brain, including:
a) Dynamic gaze exercises, which train the person to keep their eyes focused while moving their head
b) Static gaze exercises, which train the eyes to focus while the person is sitting still
c) Sensory organization exercises, which train the person to maintain posture while standing on different surfaces
f) Gait exercises, which train the person to walk while moving their head and focusing their eyes
Mumsee, you are smart. I will ask the question (although I think when it gets to the sidewalk city code may require the pipes to be a certain depth — earthquake country and all).

Can you abandon the current pipe and lay down a less deep pipe, where you want it under removeable stones in the driveway? Sounds much less expensive.

Kare, so sorry for Kaitlyn, and all who love her. Praying that the Lord will walk with her through the valley.

Right. And it has to join their pipe wherever it is located.

Oh Kare, I am so sorry. We never like to lose anyone we love but it just seems harder when they are young.

I did that study with the church youth, mumsee. My husband and I also did it with adults. It is a good study of the basics.
