Prayer Requests 3-18-17

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 17:1-9

Hear me, Lord, my plea is just;
    listen to my cry.
Hear my prayer—
    it does not rise from deceitful lips.
Let my vindication come from you;
    may your eyes see what is right.

Though you probe my heart,
    though you examine me at night and test me,
you will find that I have planned no evil;
    my mouth has not transgressed.
Though people tried to bribe me,
    I have kept myself from the ways of the violent
    through what your lips have commanded.
My steps have held to your paths;
    my feet have not stumbled.

I call on you, my God, for you will answer me;
    turn your ear to me and hear my prayer.
Show me the wonders of your great love,
    you who save by your right hand
    those who take refuge in you from their foes.
Keep me as the apple of your eye;
    hide me in the shadow of your wings
from the wicked who are out to destroy me,
    from my mortal enemies who surround me.

  1. Just spoke with Nana. She laughed when I told her I asked all of you to pray that I didn’t take my grandmother’s frying pan to the back of her son’s head. 😉
    She offered to go to the therapist with us next Wednesday. She is very worried about her youngest grandchild.

  2. Two Adorables and their mother are flying off to Oregon to visit great-grandparents. My daughter-in-law is nervous about flying alone with the 5 and 3 year old, despite my hearty, “you can do it!”

    The three have spent the last week sick and the great-grandparents are aging; prayers for a safe and healthy trip for all. Thanks.

  3. For those who prayed for my SIL who ran the boat aground recently. He will be home soon. The owner is probably going to buy another boat, so he could continue work there. He is thinking of purchasing his own. Prayers for wisdom for them about what will be a mighty big purchase and commitment. Lots to consider.

  4. You have heard from Sarah the Missionary. Today’s report comes from her husband, David:

    These past few days we experienced the emotional roller coaster of the NICU. We have been told to expect a bumpy road, but expectations don’t totally prepare you. Daniel has his blood drawn several times a day to check the amount of oxygen and carbon dioxide in his blood. These numbers had been really good early this week, so the decision was made to take him off of a high-powered jet ventilator and step him down to a regular ventilator. Daniel had a rough day Thursday, and his numbers started moving in the wrong direction. The decision was made to put him back on the jet ventilator.
    I got the call from Sarah Thursday at lunch with the news he had been put back on the more powerful ventilator. The update calls that had been a combination of good and neutral reports was instead a bad report. My lunch was suddenly no longer sitting well in my stomach.
    Fear is a very easy place to find ourselves in this season as it surrounds us constantly. But, as we have come to appreciate God’s ever presence more fully, we are able to turn our backs to fear, and turn our eyes to God.
    The painting I have included in this post is one Sarah shared with me awhile back. Daniel is depicted as unharmed and unconcerned with the group of lions a few feet behind him. Instead, he has his eyes up toward the light, presumably praying to his God. I hope and pray that our Daniel is unharmed and unconcerned with his own lions!
    Last week while praying for Daniel, I asked God to deliver him from his little lion’s den. I was being figurative, but the unintended literal nature of my prayer hit me as I remembered the printed figures on his bedding that he had for many days: lions. And his small box like “isolette” is in a way his little den. We are hoping for the day when Daniel will no longer be in his little box, no longer be in the NICU, but will be home with us where he belongs!
    Since Thursday, his numbers have improved, and his doctor commented that even though he took a step back, he is overall stronger and healthier. He has been receiving Sarah’s milk for almost a week now, and they are steadily increasing the amount he is getting. This nutrition will be a great benefit to his health, strength, and healing.
    -Please pray Daniel grows stronger day by day and his lungs continue to develop.
    -Pray for his eyesight as extended periods of time on ventilators can cause blindness.
    -Pray for us as we patiently endure this season with strength from our Heavenly Father.
    -Pray that the doctors are able to increase his milk intake.
    -Pray that the swelling in his body goes down.
    -Pray we would be able to hold our son soon.
