Prayer Requests 1-28-17

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 121

I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
    where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
    the Maker of heaven and earth.

He will not let your foot slip—
    he who watches over you will not slumber;
indeed, he who watches over Israel
    will neither slumber nor sleep.

The Lord watches over you—
    the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
the sun will not harm you by day,
    nor the moon by night.

The Lord will keep you from all harm—
    he will watch over your life;
the Lord will watch over your coming and going
    both now and forevermore.

  1. Prayer for husband and son as they continue their journey. Husband has trouble understanding what son says as son has speech challenges. This will be a good time for him to practice listening and son to practice speaking clearly.

    Prayer for us as we carry on here at the house.

    Praise that a friend came and got fifteen year old daughter and took her on a date. They went to the library and for a walk about town. Friend is a retired teacher and her retired teacher husband. They could be a huge help to daughter.

  2. A very comforting psalm.

    Multiple prayer requests today:

    Please continue to keep my hubby in your prayers. He’s gone to the clinic now; pray that he’ll get some answers. It’s the hearing loss he’s most concerned with.

    Also requesting prayers for safe travel. (I guess I could add hubby to the list, since he is out and about, though not traveling great distances, and not under any adverse weather or road conditions — easy to neglect prayer for something so ordinary, at least for me. But I digress.)

    Anyway, 2nd Arrow has a four-hour drive ahead of her today, traveling to 1st Arrow’s. Then tomorrow they will have about a one-hour drive together to attend the baptism of my great-nephew, and more driving after that to get back to their respective apartments.

    And if you would, please join me in praising God that my niece and her husband, whose son is being baptized tomorrow, asked 1st and 2nd Arrows to be the child’s godparents. My husband and I have been mildly concerned about whether or not 2nd Arrow has as strong a commitment to Christ as she once did. I am encouraged, though, that she said yes to being the baby’s godmother, and I believe that God can use this occasion to deepen her own faith.

    Please also pray that God uses the service tomorrow to draw others to Him, especially for my niece, her husband, and their immediate family, as well as extended family. Her husband is of Iranian heritage, and I don’t know how many in his family know or believe in Christ. (I’m not certain of her extended family’s commitment to Christ, either, truthfully.)

    May the gospel be preached in its truth and purity, and may God be pleased to graft in new souls to the family of believers.

    Thank you.

  3. Hubby called me and reported he has an ear infection. Hopefully the antibiotics he was prescribed will eradicate it and restore his hearing.

    Thanks for praying.

  4. While BG and I were together yesterday her dad called her. He told her that her stepmother’s daughter was in deep trouble. Some law enforcement from another city showed up with a law enforcement officer from our county to find her. She is going to women’s prison. Ex husband’s wife shares custody of her grandson with his dad and I have to admire what she has done for the little boy.
    While I may come across as a snarky ex wife talking about my ex husband’s new family that is not my intention.
    1. But for the grace of God ex and I could be walking this same path with our own Precious Princess.
    2. As a mother I feel the other mother’s heartache.
    3. Perhaps she will tell us how to avoid walking her path—wishful thinking because everyone has their own.

    The Daddy used it as a cautionary tale with his daughter and when she got off the phone she and I discussed it. I told her that it was her father’s and my fear that something would happen to trigger her to fall down the same way and to look at the heartache her stepmother had to be experiencing.

    Please if you will lift them up in prayer. For all of them but especially for the young woman who will be going to prison. There are a lot of prison ministries out there and perhaps if she is there long enough someone will reach her and she can and will turn her life around.

  5. Amen, Kim. A friend’s granddaughter (a young woman who was a classmate of my older son before we started homeschooling) has been in trouble with the law, been in drug rehab, and other things.

    Throughout all of this, every week that my friend has been at Bible study, she has faithfully requested prayer for J. Many years and many prayers later, J’s life is turning around. Her family recently celebrated her one-year anniversary of being clean. She has been able to keep a job, and is a conscientious expectant mother of twins. We are praying that she will return to the Lord, and are delighted to see how God has been working in her life.

    The power of prayer is amazing. Prayers for the young woman you mention, Kim, and her family, and, of course, as you know, BG. Watch God. He is faithful.

  6. My grandson, Noah, was suppose to fly home to TN from Alaska last night. Unfortunately, his flight was cancelled due to weather. He will fly out this morning. The problem is, that he has a classmate who died and will probably miss the funeral tomorrow, if he cannot get all the connecting flights. Please pray for him during this time. Also, I don’t want to give a name out, but I know this classmate’s family needs prayer. He was a senior in high school.

  7. Please continue to pray for Camp Kadesh this week. Registration for summer camp opens on Friday and I am praying that I didn’t miss anything important in setting up the process while I was so sick.

    K has a barium swallow test on Monday to see if the mass has gone into the stomach or if it’s just sitting close to it. She’s so worried and is having trouble sleeping – she is quite uncomfortable lying down.

    Other staff is still recovering from this yucky sickness we have almost all had. It’s a slow process.

  8. And on a much smaller scale but it is important to us, one of the goat kids, Pizza, only walks on his front knees and back feet. We don’t know what is wrong with him. Wisdom.

  9. Mumsee, we once had twin baby goats. The one died within a day of birth, despite our best efforts, while the other was blind and brain damaged for all her short life. We don’t study birth defects in animals as much as in humans, but they happen.

    Continued prayers for my parents would be appreciated. When I called last night, they had both the husband and the wife of the couple staying there. The man has been discharged, but is far too frail to take his wife home. My mother sounded a bit overwhelmed – the sudden change of routine is telling on her.

  10. Your parents are such kind people, they will give until there is nothing left to give and God knows that. Praying with you for them and the guests.

  11. Second Arrow has arrived safely at First Arrow’s. There are snow showers predicted for the area they will be traveling to tomorrow morning for the baptism. Continued prayers for safe travels for all in that area appreciated.

  12. Was thinking and praying about 6arrows hubby’s ears later night. Did the Dr mention flushing ears? 50/50 warm water aND peroxide.

  13. RKessler, I’m not sure if the doctor mentioned that or not, but I’m inclined to think hubby wouldn’t want to do that, as he was told he had fluid in the ear, and he didn’t want to put in any garlic drops or anything liquid into his ear because of the fluid.

    How does the peroxide work?

  14. 6 Arrows, I wouldn’t put anything in my ear unless it was suggested by an audiologist. I have used peroxide to clear out wax. But my audiologist here wants me to use a concoction called “Audiologists’ Choice”.. It cost $7.50 for a small bottle. I am not suggesting it. Not unless an audiologist recommends it.
