  1. A very interesting article on the Russian hacking of the Democrats:

After this year, political organizations of all types will pay much more attention to cyber security.

  2. How to not win converts to Christ, and be a total jerk at the same time.

I get his point, but this isn’t the time or place for it.

  3. The Real, I couldn’t watch it all, it was too painful to see someone claim the name of Christ in order to be mean – and telling a child that their parents are lying is not helping that child honour their parents. The man is disqualified to be a pastor, he does not meet the qualifications given in the Bible, especially the one about not being quarrelsome:

Therefore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. He must manage his own household well, with all dignity keeping his children submissive, for if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for God’s church? He must not be a recent convert, or he may become puffed up with conceit and fall into the condemnation of the devil. Moreover, he must be well thought of by outsiders, so that he may not fall into disgrace, into a snare of the devil. (I Timothy 3:2-7

Sadly, I have encountered many pastors with such a chip on their shoulders. No wonder there is so much anger among Christians now, when those who teach us, teach out of anger and bad attitudes. We have forgotten the counsel of James:

Who is wise and understanding among you? By his good conduct let him show his works in the meekness of wisdom. But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast and be false to the truth. This is not the wisdom that comes down from above, but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every vile practice. But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere. And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace. (James 3:16-18)

If Christians are to be peacemakers, as Christ told us in the Sermon on the Mount, then we must first be pure in heart.

  4. The saga continues: https://world.wng.org/2016/12/west_african_leaders_urge_gambian_president_to_step_down

Some West African leaders are visiting Gambia today to try to dissuade President Yahya Jammeh from rejecting the country’s election results. Liberia’s President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, the current chair of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), leads the delegation that includes Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari, Sierra Leone leader Ernest Bai Koroma, and the outgoing president of Ghana, John Mahama.

“We will be asking President Jammeh to respect his country’s Constitution and to maintain the inviolability of the electoral process,” Buhari posted on Twitter.

  5. Sadly, we have a church near us that was started by a pastor who told the children (during the children’s sermon) in his former church there was no santa. The church ended up asking him to leave. He was not supposed to start a new church, but did so anyway. We did not go to this church at the time. I am appalled anyone would do that.

  6. Regarding the idiot pastor above. I don’t care who you are or who you think you are. YOU are not to inform my child of anything. What I tell my child is my right as a parent. If I want her to believe in Santa, the Easter Bunny, or whatever YOU don’t have the right to cross me.

  7. On the Russians and other reasons why Trump could not have really won this election and must be deposed.

Of all the stale cliches of liberalism, “the side of history” has to be the laziest. It is a romper room version of Hegelianism, or a secularized version of Providence. (Notice that it involves the Divine Right of the State replacing the Divine Right of Kings as the agent of transcendent History.)

But it explains a lot, including the incredulity and rage liberals exhibit whenever they lose an election. If “History” is on your side, it is categorically impossible that liberalism can lose unless the voters are stupid, or Republican cheated. (You can pick more than one.)

A long time friend writes in to observe that the current liberal campaign to de-legitimize Donald Trump fits a long time pattern …

… Democrats seem to believe the only way they can lose is because the GOP somehow cheated. Keep that in mind as this insanity unfolds.

  8. I watched it. Did you notice the dads stepping up to tell him to go away? Did you notice the dads coming forward and blocking his view and their children’s view of him? Did you notice the dads trying to protect their children from what they perceived as a threat? Did you notice the dads coming together to face him off, and stopping him without punching him? That was a good thing.

  9. A Facebook friend posted a picture of a nativity scene with no people in it. Captioned; A Nativity scene without, Jews, Arabs, Africans or refugees. I thought who are the refugees? Joseph and Mary weren’t refugees. They were actually victims of high tax, Big Government.

Elector push for Russia briefing heats up after Podesta fans flames

A push by restive electors for a briefing on alleged Russian interference in the U.S. election is growing after Hillary Clinton’s campaign chairman poured fuel on the fire by endorsing the call – as some Donald Trump foes continue to hold out hope they can deny the president-elect the office he won.

John Podesta, whose emails were leaked to the front pages of news outlets across the country via WikiLeaks in the last months of the campaign, did not directly call on electors to flip their vote. He merely backed the demand by a handful of them for an intelligence briefing on Russia involvement.

“Electors have a solemn responsibility under the Constitution and we support their efforts to have their questions addressed,” he said in a statement Monday.

Since then, however, a total of 55 mostly Democratic electors have now signed onto the open letter to Director of National Intelligence James Clapper.

“We further require a briefing on all investigative findings, as these matters directly impact the core factors in our deliberations of whether Mr. Trump is fit to serve as President of the United States,” the letter says. …

… Harvard constitutional law Professor Larry Lessig acknowledges there is little chance of the effort succeeding, but says that things could change if the Russian narrative heats up.

“This is a low probability event and I don’t see anything right now that indicates a high chance that it will change immediately. But a lot is happening,” he said.

Should the rogue electors deny Trump the votes, it would be an unprecedented moment in U.S. history. There have only been 157 instances of so-called “faithless electors” for president or vice president, and no faithless electors have ever changed the outcome of an election. …

The Electoral College is due to meet on Dec. 19, by state, in each capital. They will submit their certificates of votes, which Congress will tabulate in a Joint Session on Jan. 6.

  11. They vote on the nineteenth and it is counted on the sixth of January according to the article, so sometime after that would be appropriate. Probably not very long after as there is supposed to be a change of power coming up.

  12. My prayer partner is sitting at Midway airport with daughter #3, waiting for daughter #2–who lives in LA now–to pick them up from O’Hara, after daughter #1 and 9 week old granddaughter missed their flight. (#1, who has been living in Chicago for 8 of the last 9 years, normally would be driving). They are then going to Peoria to attend a funeral tomorrow.

Pray daughter #2, whose phone is dying and she has no GPS, makes it to Midway safely and then they all get to Peoria in one piece.

Snow, right? Everyone lives in California except the woman who missed her flight (baby issues).

  13. Update–the mom who missed the flight is now holed up in Salt Lake City–with the baby–hoping to catch a full flight as standby into O’Hare, with worse case flying into St. Louis at midnight–followed by a three hour drive to the family. The mom is determined to get there to say goodbye to her grandmother . . .
