Have you ever noticed how much of the Psalms is for deliverance from an enemy?
I noticed that incidentally several years ago.
My SS teacher and I were talking after class, a guy came up and interrupted, saying, “Is it ok to pray against someone/” Before Dr. Jones could say anything, I chimed in , “It’s an Old Testament thing, the Psalms are full of it.” I had said that before I really realized it is true.
So much of the Psalms is against an enemy.
Once I was asked if I felt I could not pray for someone could I pray against them. I said it just did not feel right to do so. Even though it is an Old Testament thing, it seems like after Jesus set foot here that He brought new ways, including a refinement of prayer in that area. I know it is okay to talk to God about our true feelings on a subject which would be a rant. But as Jesus gave the example from the cross, we can always imitate Him and use His wise words, “Forgive them, for they know not what they do?” People who do things out of a mean-hearted spirit appear to know what they are doing, but they are under the influence of the evil one and may not even realize it. And pity them if they have followed the evil one because they don’t feel they could ever be good enough tobe accepted as a follower of God. They don’t understa d the fullness of Christ’s sacrifice and God’s love.
Pray for your enemies. Which is what it feels like I am doing tonight. I do not want to meet individually, with good reason, and , now, if I don’t, I am told the person will have to bring in the HR department. I have already said I am willing to just let it go, but it seems like that is not okay.
Thank You for another week on earth to enjoy Your creation and to hopefully glorify You through words and actions. All praise and glory to You for Your excellent accomplishments and all-encompassing love.
Today I lift up my sister in Christ, Jo. You are completely aware of all aspects of what is troubling her. I pray You will constantly keep her thoughts on Your magnitude so she will retain peace and composure. May she rest under Your wings of protection and constantly feel that You have her covered no matter what. Help her to remember to F.R.O.G.,Fully Rely on God, because You are bigger than a y form of bully on earth.
This morning, Lord, the devotional I read had advice from a woman to another who was facing giants. Perhaps the advice is meant for Jo?
“Just remember dear,” she whispered, “whoever gets the glory carries the burden. If you want the glory then keep on fretting over the results. But if you want to give the praise and glory to God, He will carry the burden for you.” If You meant those words for Jo, using me as a conduit then I pray Jo will understand and take comfort from them.
Thank You, God, that I can trust in Your loving care of Jo through this and other difficulties she may experience once this has passed. Help us to increase in faith and may our tendency to doubt decrease with each skirmish we face in the spiritual realms. Please help Jo to put on all the spiritual armour as mentioned in Ephesians so she will be impenetrable by any force whether seen or unseen.
I pray in the beautiful name of my Savior, Jesus. Amen
We watched WarRoom the other night. It was a reminder that our fellows are not the enemy and we are not to view them in that light but as fellows in need of prayer. We have to apply that to son. But it sure seems like it at times.

It’s about time for Jo to go and attend to whatever it is.

Are you okay, Jo?
Loud sirens awoke me from my sleep. Just checking in. Is there some additional request you have at this point?
