Prayer Requests 9-26-16

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 1

¹Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.

Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.

For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

  1. Wisdom, wisdom, wisdom. What to do with this boy. The deputy convinced him that counseling with somebody will help, so we are trying to get that going. Everybody wants to help him, he just does not see to help himself. Kind of reminds me of me in God’s view. He reached down into my death to pull me out of my wants and desires, and placed me where there is so much more to enjoy and so much more to do. May He direct us in helping this boy.

  2. Someone in my life is a Christian Scientist. She’s never been sick, went through childbirth effortlessly, runs miles everyday and has always eaten right and looks terrific even as she approaches her mid-fifties.

She was raised that way but the rest of her family are not practicing religious, though several attended Catholic schools.

She has been dealing with thyroid issues by prayer, lifestyle changes and trying to rest. It is not helping. She’s now reached a crisis–she’s lost ten pounds she could not afford to lose and there are other issues.

There are enormous pressures on her in real life–to which she has been attributing the health problems–but fundamentally this is a straightforward health issue that can be and needs to be treated.

I’m not involved in any of this except as a bystander who just “happens” to have heard about the latest incident. All I can do is pray–you all can imagine her conflict, even as you don’t subscribe to her faith beliefs. No one in her family has ever had health problems other than athletic-related injuries and this is unnerving everyone at a delicate time.

So, prayers for her, prayers for the family and prayers for me if I get pulled in–though I probably won’t since they know I’m a Christian, which means my advice in suspect in their eyes.

I love her and her family and wish only God’s best for her.

  3. Prayer for a couple friends at church:

One who lost a sister recently (and rather unexpectedly) who was not a believer (they are all Jewish by birth & the sister and her husband, who died last year, had been wrapped up in a Buddhist community where they live in Atlanta). This has been a very difficult loss for my friend due to the eternal questions and lack of hope it leaves in the midst of the mourning.

And another friend who fell & broke her arm and shoulder (surgery was just last week) — and now her 89-year-old mom (not local) also has fallen and broken a leg which needs surgery but there is a major complication just discovered in the form of a large heart aneurism. But the leg has to be fixed. Lots of stress and the family is feeling overwhelmed (daughter, my friend, unable to travel to be with her mom due to her own recent injury/surgery).

  4. Michelle, co-worker who was CS (never went to the doctor, only to practitioners) was diagnosed with diabetes a couple years ago, almost lost part of a foot, and now is the most faithful and traditional patient I’ve ever seen, she’s always off to the doctor. Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be an opening for the gospel — yet.

I read a bit about CS a few years ago and came to the conclusion it’s one of the more insidious “religions” out there. And it’s steeped in its own re-working of the Bible, so the language may sound familiar to us as Christians but it’s an entirely different animal, often hard to discern what adherents are thinking when they speak using such biblical terminology.

  5. Thank you for prayers for baby Tucker. He was sent home this morning. His family is very relieved, as you may imagine.

As for Grandma Jenn, she has another infection (probably from her bladder tube), bladder stones, & she may need a biopsy done on her thyroid. 😦

  6. Oh, my! As someone with thyroid issues I can only imagine the damage being done in that poor woman’s body. She can die or go insane. A thyroid storm is possible. I will pray that someone they will listen to will intervene.

I am so grateful for the doctors, medicine etc. that has helped me!

  7. Kathaleena – A while back, you (I think it was you) suggested I have my thyroid checked. On Thursday morning I will be having blood drawn for blood work, & thyroid levels is one of the things that will be checked.

  8. I always thought that thyroid was manageable by medication. I know a guy who had a thyroid operation in 1964. He’s still e-mailing me. He takes thyroid medication.
