  1. The west coast catches first place!

Only because I’m not sleeping, of course. Have a wonderful day–I’ll be drugged for most of it as I endure a “medical procedure,” no one wants to hear about. 🙂

  2. Good morning from Atlanta where it is in the low fifties which is getting near the forties, y’all, and it is almost June. Strange, odd, and (paying for heating instead of AC) crazy.

  3. Killing time . . . Here’s a QOD: how many emails are in your inbox right now?

    Are you happiest at zero?

My answer? Yes. I currently have three I need to deal with when I have a brain.

(I make great use of folders to keep the numbers low).

  4. I have zero unread, unless some appeared in the last five minutes.
I don’t know how many are in my box.
I keep some a long time because they contain information.

I clean out my mail box every time I come on-line.

  5. Good Morning! Cute ducks….my husband has a bike helmet that reminds me of that duck’s head!!
It is 48 degrees here at 7:30AM….going to be in the low 60’s by afternoon….rain coming later in the week….we’ll take it!
No emails in my inbox….like Chas, I keep some as saved because they have info I don’t want to lose….I don’t get that many emails anymore…most friends and family send private messages on Facebook….

  6. Our in box is overloaded because a certain female doesn’t like to delete emails. And when she does, they go into the ‘deleted items’ folder. I think there are over 1,000 in the inbox. Evey so often I empty the deleted items folder.

  7. I have more emails than could be imagined! I try to keep junk emails at zero. That is my priority, to go through that to make sure I did not miss anything that is important.

It’s difficult to delete emails on my Smartphone so I am going for the Guinness record on emails unread (but hopefully viewed to determine I did not need to open them)!

  8. I found out yesterday that we have 92% of the population inside the perimeter of Atlanta, where we live, who are totally unchurched, not dechurched (the ones who attended at one time but stopped going).
We live on the mission field and sometimes it can feel hostile.

  9. Fuzzy ducklings!

Coyotes apparently are making quick work of our ducks and geese in the neighborhood park. 😦 Someone reported seeing a coyote dining on a goose in the park early yesterday morning.

How does Monday always come so soon?

I have to finish up my state senate seat election story this week (still 2 more candidates to interview, but the two major candidates who will likely be in the November runoff, both liberal Democrats, are done).

Next week is a long weekend for us, Memorial Day. I’ve worked many of those holidays in the past, covering the huge ceremony they have at the local cemetery, but I am going to try to avoid working this one. I need a long weekend.

  10. Nine year old brought in a baby wild rabbit he saved from the cat this morning. We put it in a rabbit cage to be fed and fattened before returning it to the wild. We also need to gather up our rabbits we let loose for three weeks, before the big baby boom hits. We enjoy watching them hopping around the yard. They are destructive but it is worth it. Back in their cages to have their babies and we will release the three that have been kept caged while the babies grow to freezer size. Then capture the loose ones and release the others. Probably not the most effective rabbitry on the planet, but we enjoy it and I suspect the rabbits do as well. Of course, we have to watch for disease when we butcher, since they have been around wild rabbits.

  11. I am a picky person. I don’t like to go on the roof unless it is warm but not hot, no wind, no precipitation. But today, it became necessary. And, I am sorry to say, I got a bit frustrated with eighteen year old boy who no longer lives here. I finally let him up on the roof with me last winter to clean the chimney. I told him only lightly tighten the nut on the bolt holding the chimney cap on as I don’t like to have to carry extra tools up there. He is the one who liked to put the peanut butter and jam lids on extra tight so he could open them for people. Sure enough. Not only did I have to go up in the wind, but I had to go up twice because I had to come back for some pliers (I am not good at judging wrench size). But it is clean and I am back on the ground floor and all is good. Life’s challenges around here are so small, one has to laugh.

  12. I’m groggy but returned in good shape. Stargazer made me an omelette, I have my IPad, magazine, books and a remote– along with a pillow and afghan in the recliner.

I believe I’m good to go for the day.

Interesting exchange with hospital questions. After going through a list of possible physical ailments, the nurse asked if I felt safe at home.

I repeated the question, puzzled. He whispered, “abuse?”

I laughed. “I’m fine. I have a wonderful husband and even great kids.”

    He laughed.

“The only time I feel unsafe at home is working appliances . . . ”

They all laughed as they drove me into the operating theater!

  13. Since it’s a long weekend here in Canada, I was able to go for a long 5km walk with my husband this morning before he headed off to work. Saw lots of different birds and our neighbour’s bison, but no other wildlife 🙂

  14. Perhaps if you did not have all of those “soak up the sunshine so it will evaporate faster” black balls on your reservoirs, the ducks and geese could use those.

  15. I go through my emails every day, & I skim through the spam list to make sure I’m not deleting an actual email. Every now & then, a legitimate email ends up in the spam folder.

I am pretty safe at home. My occasional walking into door frames or tripping over my own feet hasn’t resulted in serious injury. Yet.

  18. what I hear on here about our culture makes me want to live in New Zealand. However, you have to be rich to emigrate at my age. So…. you think I can talk any of my children into the move?
lots and lots of emails in my inbox. Isn’t that where you are supposed to save those special messages??
and how do you back up emails?

  20. Have been lounging around all day as directed . . . Binge watching Grantchester, vacuuming, reading and now baking cookies.

I was advised not to exercise for three days but felt so good after vacuuming the rug that I rolled out my back, stretched and even did a plank before realizing I should not have been excercising.

    Hmmmm.

Anyway, watched all six episodes of this Masterpiece Theater mystery series about an Anglocan vicar near Cambridge who conveniently helps out the police in murder crimes– people feel they can trust him with that collar.

Story takes place in the 1950 s but feels suspiciously 2016 PC. Far too many of the six stories touch on homosexuality, including a fellow gay priest, sex, the aforementioned murders and curious how the police officers all carry guns.

I thought they didn’t do that in Britain?

Ah, but this is the 1950s and all those former servicemen are violent, having trouble (probably true) and are violent.

Anyway, I found humor in all the characters trying to straighten themselves up whenever our hero was around and I was curious as to how he related to the many people who came to him with their problems– he always wears his collar.

But, as in any endeavor, it would have helped if the writers knew just a little more about Jesus, God’s grace and how a church body really functions. Really, by the last episode I was wondering when our hero ever attended to the needs of his congregation.

    I’ll skip the second season.

Time to bake and I thought Stargazer was cooking dinner . . . . Hmmm.

  21. Coyote story today — and I got to use my geese sisters photo that was posted here a week or two ago. 🙂

Now we have a coyote rights lobby and a geese rights lobby …
