Prayer Requests 5-21-16

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 37:1-18

¹Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.

For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.

Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.

Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.

Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.

Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.

For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the Lord, they shall inherit the earth.

10 For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be.

11 But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.

12 The wicked plotteth against the just, and gnasheth upon him with his teeth.

13 The Lord shall laugh at him: for he seeth that his day is coming.

14 The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, and to slay such as be of upright conversation.

15 Their sword shall enter into their own heart, and their bows shall be broken.

16 A little that a righteous man hath is better than the riches of many wicked.

17 For the arms of the wicked shall be broken: but the Lord upholdeth the righteous.

18 The Lord knoweth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be for ever.

  1. Today’s the day reality hits Pam’s family. As her oldest son’s wife (who is my housecleaner/literary assistant) said, oldest son-who has been our handyman since high school and now works at ILM–ran all day yesterday on shock and caffeine.

At the house last night with all the friends whom we’ve seen there countless times, I found myself in the kitchen with several friends–including a nurse and a nurse practitioner.

The two were in agreement Pam was probably in shock when she tried to get across the freeway. She probably never even knew about the Prius that hit her and may not have felt much.

The one who was at the hospital with Gary also said, given her injuries from the first accident (hitting the pole), it was probably God’s mercy she died.

That’s hard to hear except if you’re a Christian.

He also said she was so –I don’t want to use this word–mangled, they couldn’t use any of her organs for donation with the possible exception of her eyes.

It’s hard sometimes to recognize God’s mercy when the circumstances are so horrific, and yet He knows so much better than we do.

And she truly is in a better place.

    Thank you for your prayers.

  3. We realized that it was about five years ago yesterday, that our ex pastor was killed on his scooter, going home from work in the wee hours, by a drunk driver. Hit and run. As shocking as it is and as we mourn, God whispers His love for us in a quick departure. Pastor left a wife with seven children at home.

  4. Wow, it had to have been at least seven years ago, maybe eight because I remember where we were when we got the call at four in the morning. Before we had remodeled.

  5. Heavenly Father,

Some losses seem unfathomable. We are beyond understanding of why it happened as it did. The pain of losing a loved one and missing them should be enough to suffer without the additional anguish of knowing the pain and demolishment of a body. I pray for the family and friends, the neighbors, the many in the community who are feeling shocked and assaulted by this horrible happening. And I make the same cry out to You over the family tragedy on Facebook where a grandfather ran over his grandson with a tractor and severed the boys leg, and the child lost so much blood that his brain might be affected. These type things seem so unreal. Please help all who may suffer from any kind of guilt that they did not stop their loved one from going out, etc. Please help Your love and compassion fill the homes and places where people gather. Please comfort in ways never experienced before so no one feels abandoned by You in their great time of need. In Jesus’ name, Amen

  6. I am going to be fine ….just not right now. BG is with her Nana. She was told not to come back in this house nor would she be likely to darken thw doors anyway. I must have been living in some sort of denial for a while. I thought life was going well and I was finally getting some peace. That isn’t the case. He us a very angry vindictive man.

  7. I do not know the man. It is possible he loves his woman dearly and is very protective of her. And in protecting his woman from the manipulations he was seeing, he spoke in man talk rather than womanese and it came across as angry and vindictive whereas a boy would have understood it as “man up”. Again, I don’t know him so am just looking at possibilities.

    Praying for you all.

  8. Sorry Kim, praying. I’d forgotten you said you might run away from home this weekend, but sounds like you’re still around. Hang in there.

  9. Sorry I haven’t checked in. For some reason all my sites wanted passwords. Of course I couldn’t remember most of them. Anyway, I had surgery for my shoulder and it was better for a while but now my hand and wrist are hurting. Especially my thumb. I miss having the use of my thumb. It really does set us apart form the animals. Please pray for my arm and hand.
