Prayer Requests 4-30-16

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 17

¹Hear the right, O Lord, attend unto my cry, give ear unto my prayer, that goeth not out of feigned lips.

Let my sentence come forth from thy presence; let thine eyes behold the things that are equal.

Thou hast proved mine heart; thou hast visited me in the night; thou hast tried me, and shalt find nothing; I am purposed that my mouth shall not transgress.

Concerning the works of men, by the word of thy lips I have kept me from the paths of the destroyer.

Hold up my goings in thy paths, that my footsteps slip not.

I have called upon thee, for thou wilt hear me, O God: incline thine ear unto me, and hear my speech.

Shew thy marvellous lovingkindness, O thou that savest by thy right hand them which put their trust in thee from those that rise up against them.

Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings,

From the wicked that oppress me, from my deadly enemies, who compass me about.

10 They are inclosed in their own fat: with their mouth they speak proudly.

11 They have now compassed us in our steps: they have set their eyes bowing down to the earth;

12 Like as a lion that is greedy of his prey, and as it were a young lion lurking in secret places.

13 Arise, O Lord, disappoint him, cast him down: deliver my soul from the wicked, which is thy sword:

14 From men which are thy hand, O Lord, from men of the world, which have their portion in this life, and whose belly thou fillest with thy hid treasure: they are full of children, and leave the rest of their substance to their babes.

15 As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.

  1. Heavenly Father,

Thank You for good weather and the ability to get outside and do yard work. The birds sang cheerfully while I worked so I didn’t need to whistle.

The needs continue to be so great among our group of blog friends and family in Christ. We all share in the covering of His blood although we may have denominational differences. Thank You for this community of believers where we can enrich each other by sharing in our love for You and also by hearing how You are active in various, areas of the world.

I lift up Kbells today that she may be feeling better from her treatment and that the cancer cells are experiencing obliteration. May proper levels be determined for Kbells to make treatment tolerable and at the same time most effective in wiping out the cancer. Please be a mighty help to her and her family during this season of hardship.

Bless Chas and Elvera today with her continuing improvement. Thank You for Polly’s good help. Increase her stsmina, too, please Lord. Give everyone patience as they work to find what suits best for the new level of care that Elvera needs. Help them as they look for assisted living. You know all their needs. Please supply abundantly.

Bless Michelle and husband on their trip home. Thank You for Michelle being able to feel the relief and pleasure of finally signing her contract.

Please be making a good way of traveling for Kim and BG. Prepare all hearts involved with the program to be fully dedicated to doing what is necessary to bring good forever changes to young lives that have for various reasons gotten off track from Your plans for them. Thank You for this opportunity, grace, and mercy.

I continue to lift up my brother’s need for employment. He prefers the medical field, Father, but You know he is open to other opportunities. Please provide soon. And son needs summer income so I ask that You allow him to find something convenient and suitable to his skills and background.

Please help Art, Lord, to continue feeling well as his procedure is just a little over a week away. I try not to stress over it, but only my faith in You keeps me grounded in the present goodness and not flying off into the what ifs.

Please bless my friends, Karen and David, who are both suffering will illness. Please help them to quickly recover.

Please continue to give assistance to each who places their requests here because they trust in You and the way of communication You made through Jesus to You. Bless His powerful name and all who call on Him, our terrific help. Amen

  2. Forrest is feeling better (he was much better by yesterday), but now Emily has it. Still praying the rest of us don’t get it.

I think I forgot to tell you all that my friend Susan’s husband (the one who had the stroke & heart attack) is back home. She is overjoyed to have him home again, & that he is doing so well.

Lee’s PSA is down within normal range again! Praising God!

  3. Great news, KarenO!

Please pray for my husband – he has 4 days of recertification starting this morning. He was feeling anxious about it as each year he is, obviously, one year older and he trains with a lot of younger guys who always seem to have something to prove. Please pray that his stomach will be settled for these days and that no injuries will occur.

  4. Prayers for a co-worker at one of our sister papers to the north of us in LA; within just a span of 3 weeks last month he was diagnosed with a series of serious health issues following an ER call and now faces surgeries and fast-mounting expenses (they’ve started a go fund me page). He’s in his 40s with a wife and three children (homeschooled, so I believe — and have heard since — that he’s Christian but I don’t really know him well, have only met him on a handful of occasions as our LA papers are so spread out).

  5. 😦 I worry about KBells.
When you mention something that we are concerned about, you should keep us updated.
Not to hog the blog like I did for a week.
But everyone is concerned and wants to know.
She said that she was diagnosed with breast cancer. I know that can be devastating.
It used to mean, at least, the loss of one of the breast.
But it doesn’t anymore. I told you that DIL, Linda had breast cancer. The radiation treatments were not pleasant. She was radioactive for an entire week.
    But6 the cancer is gone.

Back in the sixties, Elvera had a lump in her breast. They didn’t know what it was, so they had to perform an operation to remove it. It was just a lump
She said that the first thing she did when she woke from anesthesia was to feel to she if she had a breast.
That’s what they did in those days.

  6. Sorry I haven’t gotten back with y’all. They put the port in Thursday and Friday was a meeting with nurse navigator and a visit to the hat, wig and undergarment store. Also it took a nurse some doing to get my wedding ring off so we took it to be resized. I am at peace now, but attribute that to all prayer.. I predict a royal come-apart later on. Thank you for all the prayer.

  7. Well, to give you some humor and perspective because if we don’t want to cry, we need to laugh. BG was going to a local river where you can float down on an inner tube with a group of friends today because she couldn’t go to prom tonight, Now you have to know that she is a size ZERO (my left leg isn’t a size zero) anyway she was putting on a bathing suit with shorts over the bottoms. She had a come apart, crying jag because her ‘boobs are disgusting. They are too big and they have stretch marks on them—can she please have surgery”. I held her and let her cry. I took all the blame. It is a curse. My cure came in the form of nursing her for a year. I was so excited to be able to buy a shirt that fit and button the third button down.
Perhaps I should explain that it is better to have too big, disgusting ones than face the possibility of losing one or both.

KBells, my dad had 8 sisters. Three have had breast cancer and two are survivors. The third one lost her battle with cancer. She survived the breast cancer, but many years later the cancer came back as bone cancer. She would have probably survived that if she had not been paralyzed and the doctors missed it thinking she was experiencing bone degeneration from being in the chair for so long. You are in Birmingham and I am assuming going to UAB. We don’t realize it because we live here but they have the best of reputations. Please let us know if you need anything besides being covered in prayer.

  8. Kbells – When my mom lost her hair to chemotherapy (for ovarian cancer), her scalp was sensitive. She didn’t like the feeling of wigs, or some hats. What she settled on were caps made of a very fuzzy, very soft yarn. I don’t know what the yarn is called, but it is, as I said, very fuzzy, looking kind of furry. My SIL, who knows how to knit, made some for her. They were cute, too.

  9. My friend wore lots of buffs when she had chemo. Now we have them at camp for all the staff and she just cannot bring herself to wear one. But she said they were soft and comfortable as well as somewhat trendy.

  10. Last night was long & kind of horrible. (Sorry for being such a baby about it.) I caught the stomach/intestinal bug that Forrest & Emily had had, & after several trips to the bathroom, didn’t get into a decent sleep until after 6am. I could have stayed in bed longer, but I got up a little before 9. I think I will sleep well tonight. May even take a nap later, which is rare for me. I had my last vomiting episode around 6, but still have the “intestinal part”, if you know what I mean. I feel so drained & depleted. No church for me this morning.

Emily is so sweet. She stripped my bedding to wash it all for me, & will remake it for me, too. (I didn’t throw up in bed, but she said that after she had this, she felt like her bedding & such was a petrie dish of germs, so she thought I might feel the same.)

  11. A more serious prayer need (as I know I will recover from this in a couple days or so): A woman at church was seven weeks pregnant, & now the baby seems to have stopped growing. What adds to the sadness is that she & her husband have had trouble getting pregnant.

  12. Pray for my family. We have lost my single aunt today after a long struggle with heart issues. She was my mothers only sibling. My mother is in charge of all of the details, but was left with detailed lists to help her find all the connections she needs to wrap things up.

  13. Forrest threw up again, which means he will be out of school again tomorrow (the third day). The school has a policy that a child cannot return to school until at least 24 hours have elapsed since the last throw up or end of a fever.

I really, really hope it doesn’t come back to me. 😦

Still praying Lee will escape this, but Emily says these stomach viruses are very contagious.
