Prayer Requests 3-24-16

It’s Thursday, so don’t forget to pray for Jo, her students, and the people of PNG.

Anyone else?

Psalm 135

¹Praise ye the Lord. Praise ye the name of the Lord; praise him, O ye servants of the Lord.

Ye that stand in the house of the Lord, in the courts of the house of our God.

Praise the Lord; for the Lord is good: sing praises unto his name; for it is pleasant.

For the Lord hath chosen Jacob unto himself, and Israel for his peculiar treasure.

For I know that the Lord is great, and that our Lord is above all gods.

Whatsoever the Lord pleased, that did he in heaven, and in earth, in the seas, and all deep places.

He causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth; he maketh lightnings for the rain; he bringeth the wind out of his treasuries.

Who smote the firstborn of Egypt, both of man and beast.

Who sent tokens and wonders into the midst of thee, O Egypt, upon Pharaoh, and upon all his servants.

10 Who smote great nations, and slew mighty kings;

11 Sihon king of the Amorites, and Og king of Bashan, and all the kingdoms of Canaan:

12 And gave their land for an heritage, an heritage unto Israel his people.

13 Thy name, O Lord, endureth for ever; and thy memorial, O Lord, throughout all generations.

14 For the Lord will judge his people, and he will repent himself concerning his servants.

15 The idols of the heathen are silver and gold, the work of men’s hands.

16 They have mouths, but they speak not; eyes have they, but they see not;

17 They have ears, but they hear not; neither is there any breath in their mouths.

18 They that make them are like unto them: so is every one that trusteth in them.

19 Bless the Lord, O house of Israel: bless the Lord, O house of Aaron:

20 Bless the Lord, O house of Levi: ye that fear the Lord, bless the Lord.

21 Blessed be the Lord out of Zion, which dwelleth at Jerusalem. Praise ye the Lord.

  1. Yesterday my brother fell in his yard and hit face down on dirt and gravel. His face is banged up but he does not seem to have anything broken. He did go to urgent care and is on antibiotic. Please pray for healing to not leave scars. Also, this will make it hard to attend job interviews for awhile. He had planned to go to a job fair today. He will probably miss church on Sunday, too. 😦

He was carrying a lot of recycling materials and was going under a wire in his yard and somehow his boot got caught in a wire on the ground and he tripped. Just one of those stupid accidents in this “fallen” world. Thank you for praying.

  2. It is looking more and more like a form of Munchausen. Prayer for Truth to come out and wisdom on how to deal with it. She may also be lifting money from my dad’s wallet.

  3. Jo’s mention of holidays made me recall the signs that were up at the city’s public libraries on Saturday when I was taking Carol around —

    Library closed March 28
Library closed March 29 in observance of Cesar Chavez Day

Interesting, no explanation of why the library would be closed on Sunday (which is Easter, of course, but then it’s also left off of most of the wall and desk calendars I buy or look at now, too).

speaking of Carol, she texted me last night, somewhat excited, that a “soldier” from Afghanistan had sent her a FB message saying that her photo looked like an “angel” and would she be interested in corresponding … I told her it’s a scam, don’t engage (too late, she already had), but she seemed to accept my explanation of the anonymous outreach so hopefully she’s cut that off.

Oy. The wonderful world of technology.

  4. Okay, daughter has acknowledged making it up for her friends and then watching it snowball. We of course love her and forgive her but wonder if there needs to be more help for her or if it was just a stupid teenager thing. Wisdom.

  5. She feels so bad, we were concerned she might go suicidal on us. But my dad is handling it well and I keep reassuring her, so I think she will be okay. We will continue to talk.

  7. A huge relief. Evidently, she did go in and had a mammogram and biopsy but the results were negative. Somehow, with peer pressure helping, she managed to tell her friends it was positive and needed surgery, but they were not supposed to tell me. When one told me, it all snowballed out of her control. And God, Who is Truth, was there all the time, letting the Light shine in such a way that she was very quickly found out. We are forever grateful.

Her younger brother, our seventeen year old strong and steady, told me one of his friend’s has a sister who pulled the same thing a couple of years ago. She had the whole family believing she had cancer for nearly two years. Apparently, it is quite common in people this age.

  8. Praying for relief for you, KBells.

My husband’s pain is increasing again, and he hopes he won’t have to have a hernia surgery redo. I’m not sure when he can get back in to be seen. Thanks for prayers.

  9. Janet, how frustrating for your brother! I am sure it is one more pain on top of the job search.

I am somewhat relieved my folks rejected getting a computer. There are some others that are better off without one. I shudder to think about all the vulnerable people online. Soon there will be little choice of course.
