  1. Here’s one analysis piece from last night:

    http://townhall.com/tipsheet/guybenson/2016/02/26/analysis-rubio-cruz-tag-team-trump–finally-n2124906

… Trump often demonstrates his shallowness on policy matters, but rarely has he seemed so flummoxed. Rubio’s savage “repeating himself” line was sly because it was both self-deprecating and true of Trump, who missed the joke. Somewhat implausibly, the Florida Senator won plaudits from a series of Cruz backers — and even Cruz himself. …

Aside from occasional barbs, the two conservative Senators laid off of each other for the most part, training their joint fire on the man they’re chasing. As powerful as Rubio was at times, Cruz deserves a lot of credit for keeping the pressure up on Trump, grilling him on Obamacare, and landing a devastating real-time fact-check on Trump’s position on the Libya intervention. …

Cruz and Rubio each lead Mrs. Clinton in the RCP average; Trump trails her head-to-head, in addition to his poor fundamentals. …

(But — for now): Donald Trump is still the frontrunner. If anyone believes Trump’s performance — which was objectively bad overall and painfully flailing at times — will harm his standing, they’ve been napping through the last six months….

… Parting thought: How long will the Rubio/Cruz marriage of convenience last? Was this merely a momentary alliance, or a sign of an emerging strategy? Tick tock.

Over the course of the last 48 hours, the Rubio campaign pulled one of the great head-fakes in recent political history by telegraphing that they weren’t at all interested in attacking Donald Trump at tonight’s debate.

Technically, this wasn’t a ruse because Rubio didn’t just attack Trump. He went after him with a chainsaw. And Ted Cruz brought a pair of pliers and a blowtorch. …

… But will it hurt him? Probably not by itself. But if tonight’s debate is the beginning of a sustained counterattack against Trump—by Cruz and Rubio themselves on the stump, by their campaigns on the air, and by reluctant donors who now see that there’s a blueprint for dismantling the orange menace—then it could mark the beginning of the end for Trump. …

  3. Yeah Christie wants a job, since his gig in NJ is almost up, so why not VP or AG? Kasich has gotta hate this though, ‘cuz the VP spot’s what he was stickin’ around for. He might still get it too, Christie is a former fed prosecutor, so AG makes more sense for him.

A choice 2011 piece from our archives: “How obvious it seems to me now. Cold, grasping, bleak, graceless, and dull; unctuous, sleek, pitiless, and crass; a pallid vulgarian floating through life on clouds of acrid cologne and trailed by a vanguard of fawning divorce lawyers, the devil is probably eerily similar to Donald Trump—though perhaps just a little nicer.”

  5. AJ here, since I don’t want anyone else to take the blame for what follows….. 🙂

The Jersey ticket….. What’s not to love? 😆

Poor Ricky, this must be bad for you too, huh?….. 🙂

    Them @#$& Yankees!!!! 😆

Ya’ gotta learn to embrace the suck of NE RINO’s like we have around here. 🙂 Even scarier, these 2 clowns could probably put NY, NJ, Conn, and DE into play for Republicans. 😯

The world has turned upside down. And I must confess, there’s a part of me that is enjoying it. The mask’s are off. Dems are running as the commies they are, and R’s are their own worst enemy, because they keep selling out the voters. The 2 parties have managed to piss off everyone, and this is how the electorate is responding. Reap it folks, D’s and R’s alike, you’ve earned it.

(Drops the mic, throws his hands up, and walks off…….) 🙂

  6. Prager argues there may simply not be enough conservatives led in the country at this point. The movement is weak and now even somewhat irrational, frankly. The culture (I’m talking grassroots here) has long been captive to the liberals. Time to recognize it perhaps.

Well, sad for the country but maybe we can enjoy dropping out for a while.

    What’s to do?

  7. This could get scary.

    http://www.politico.com/blogs/on-media/2016/02/donald-trump-libel-laws-219866#ixzz41IyQcNjM

Donald Trump said on Friday he plans to change libel laws in the United States so that he can have an easier time suing news organizations.

During a rally in Fort Worth, Texas, Trump began his usual tirade against newspaper such as The New York Times or The Washington Post, saying they’re “losing money” and are “dishonest.” He then took a different turn, suggesting that when he’s president they’ll “have problems.”

  8. I’m not enjoying any part of it.
Seriously, I pray several times a day that God will straighten this country our. It isn’t just the politics that makes it evil. It’s the evil that makes the politics.

Maybe God has other plans for us. I still believe that “There are still ten good men in Sodom”. But when I hear that Evangelicals, even Christian leaders are endorsing a man who says “Two Corinthians” and holds up his mother’s Bible to show how religious he is, I wonder about where this is headed.

Do you realize that the next election may be decided on issues like late term abortion, same sex marriage, and LGBT restrooms?

  9. there will be all kinds of theories floated (already are, from the advent of ‘talk radio’ to not passing on a solid conservative world view to the younger generations) on how we got here and what went so haywire.

But I always remember these are secondary causes. There is something much deeper at work, the first cause, the invisible hand behind it all.

All we can do is be faithful (and remember to whom we belong, our first love).

  10. And as far as that split “evangelical” voting block goes ….

    http://www.religionnews.com/2016/02/26/has-donald-trump-killed-the-evangelical/

    ________________________________________________

… Above all, it has been the enduring and even growing success of Donald Trump, with his ugly rhetoric, boorish behavior, liberal-to-moderate past positions and questionable current views, that has alienated many conservative Christian leaders and caused them to wonder about the viability and credibility of the “evangelical” label …

…. Not only did Trump unveil the surprise endorsement of former rival and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, but he also repeatedly wrapped himself in the mantle of evangelicalism. And for good measure, he trotted out a top Baptist, the Rev. Robert Jeffress, to deliver a ringing encomium of Trump as a “pro-life leader.”

“But here is what I finally know about Donald Trump,” Jeffress, pastor of First Baptist Church of Dallas, told a rally for Trump. “Donald Trump cares about and loves evangelical Christians.”

It was all too much for another leading evangelical, Russell Moore, public policy chief for the Southern Baptist Convention:

    Russell Moore ‎@drmoore
The word “evangelical” no longer has any meaning. Just call me a gospel Christian.

Many in the thread following that tweet agreed with Moore, and it again raises a number of issues going forward, such as how one ought to define “evangelical.” …

  11. “This Chris Christie endorsement of Trump is real signal to GOP establishment that they had better begin thinking about Trump as the future,” former House Speaker Newt Gingrich tweeted Friday.

  12. I have been dishing out a steady diet of ridicule on Trump, the Democrats and their supporters for months. The result is that none of my friends will admit they support Trump. My goal is to keep them all “in the closet”. It is bad enough we have to deal with public displays of perversion. I don’t want to have to view public displays of idiocy.

  13. The infidels were right under my very nose today. Christie endorsed Trump in Fort Worth. What were our police doing? Clearly, both should have been arrested for Yankeeing in a No Yankee Zone. In addition, I have seen evidence of a felony violation of Taking the Texas Flag in Vain.
