Prayer Requests 2-22-16

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 103

¹Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.

Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:

Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;

Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;

Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

The Lord executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed.

He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel.

The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.

He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever.

10 He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.

11 For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.

12 As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.

13 Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him.

14 For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.

15 As for man, his days are as grass: as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth.

16 For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone; and the place thereof shall know it no more.

17 But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children’s children;

18 To such as keep his covenant, and to those that remember his commandments to do them.

19 The Lord hath prepared his throne in the heavens; and his kingdom ruleth over all.

20 Bless the Lord, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word.

21 Bless ye the Lord, all ye his hosts; ye ministers of his, that do his pleasure.

22 Bless the Lord, all his works in all places of his dominion: bless the Lord, O my soul.

  1. 6 Arrows – Praying & hoping you & your children are all feeling better this morning. I know how it hurts a mother’s heart to see her children suffering. And may your husband, & whoever hasn’t caught it yet, stay healthy.

  2. I haven’t asked for prayers for BG in a while, so this is my reminder. Saturday night the boyfriend told her he loved her. We ALL know how that makes a young woman’s heart feel. My Mama Ruth told me one time she hated the term “puppy love”. To young people that was the strongest emotion they had ever felt and they were ill equipped to deal with it.
    On a more pleasant note, she and I got to spend some time together yesterday. I took her to a “hot” exercise class with me. We were both dripping sweat (yeah, um, none of that Southern stuff about glistening…we were man-sweating). She accused me of trying to kill her. I told the other women in the class to be proud, they had kicked an 18 year old’s butt!

  3. Thanks for your prayers for my 18 year old relative who returned very excited from the UAE last night. Bubbling over with enthusiasm but exhausted. She returns to school today, if she wakes up. Her father said she came home and started in on her homework since she slept on the plane.

    And in a praise, my relatives still appear to love me and I’m shaking my head.

    Some important phone interviews this week for me.

  4. Thanks for all the prayers and compassionate well-wishes for our family over the last several days. Coughs are becoming more productive now, so it is good that we’re getting rid of some of that gunk.

    8-year-old and I had a rough night. We camped out on the couch and loveseat in the living room, but both of us awoke many times. I determined I would pray for her every time I heard her cough or moan. Lots of prayers went up.

    Donna, from the weekend thread, I thought of you last night and that nasty flu bug you had had last year (without having seen your comment until today), and, like you, I was also thinking about how that can be fatal when one is already in a weakened state. My mind went back to having heard that my grandpa’s first wife had died in the 1918 flu epidemic, and all I could do was just cry and plead with God that he not take me, or daughter there in the room with me. I felt like I was going to die, and hearing 6th Arrow sound exactly the way I did — well, I would have been scared out of my wits if I hadn’t been so sick to even fully process it. KWIM?

    Not sure if I’m making sense.

    Continued prayers are most appreciated, everyone. Adult son is the only one in the household who hasn’t gotten it, but other than in youngest child and me, the virus has been not too hard-hitting, and hubby went to work. Thank you much.

  5. Forgive me for being a whiner. Could you pray I at least could get rid of this splitting headache I’ve had since Saturday? It’s making me nauseous, and the dry heaves I had this morning hurt my diaphragmatic muscles something else, already sore from all the coughing. Nothing is working.

    Both 6th Arrow and I had a couple good hours around the midday today, for which I am thankful, though. However, things are rough again now, both of us moaning and groaning, pretty involuntarily, it seems. I’m not looking forward to another night like last night.

    One bright spot: 5th Arrow, who has difficulty empathizing with other people’s pain/hardship, came into the room where little one and I were lying down, to retrieve something he’d left in there. On his way out the door, he looked toward us and said, “Hope you feel better someday.”

    Sweet. Silver linings on the dark days. Thank you, Lord.

  6. Heavenly Father,

    Thank You for foster parents who take in needy children and really help them in times of trouble. You certainly are the best example foster parents could ever have as You have taken each of us in at our time of need, and you’ve never let go.

    I lift up BG to You for Your help and guidance as she hears sweet nothings from her boyfiend. You know the depth of feelings, the potential for hurt or for true love to take root. May they both have a new level of understanding of sacrificial love and begin showing capabilities in that regard if the relationship is to continue. May they spend time with couples who honor and respect their spouses as uplifting examples. May they put away anything that hinders their maturity and getting to know Jesus as Lord of their lives.

    I lift up 6 Arrows and her family as they all go through this horrendous illness. It will be a long remembrance of how badly a body can suffer and how You see people through to healing and to better days. I pray the worst of the suffering is over. Thank You for the comfort You give through the sweetness of caring family members. I pray that the effects of this but with not linger. May all quickly regain their strength to get back to regular routines of life.

    Thank You, Abba, for helping me today as I write a short story about Miss Bosley. You’ve certainly provided a worthy character to write about. I ask for Your help in realizing the strongest Christian message to associate with the story. I think Kim’s message from the foster parent may be right on target and right on time. Praise be to You!

    Please help Michelle to do well with her interviews. Also, I ask that You help all who suffer with insomnia to quickly find something to get them back on track with a good night’s rest.

    Praising You in advance for all Your answers whether yes, no, or wait for the best. In Jesus’ name, Amen

  7. 6 Arrows – Did your illness start with the cough? The reason I ask is that this “cold” is mostly cough for me, & Lee had a pretty bad cough that is finally going away. Usually when I get a cold, it starts in the sinuses & eventually makes its way down to my chest. But this started out as a rough cough.

  8. Mumsee, yes, really nice, and not something we would have thought possible from him many years ago. The instances of his exhibiting empathy are few and far between, but every one of those demonstrations is a blessing.

    Janice, oh, thank you so much for your written prayers. I’m glad you’re back to writing them here.

    Michelle and Kim, prayers and praises with your posts.

    Karen, with most of us this time around (4 out of 6), it started with what I would describe as you did — a rough cough. The other two began as a sore throat, and with one of them, progressed to an infrequent cough. Nobody has nasal or sinus congestion. Really bizarre virus, very unlike most we’ve had.

  9. Good news — headache’s gone!! I went outside today for the first time since Saturday, to get the mail, and it was so nice out (mid to upper 30s) I decided I would just sit outside for a while. Ten minutes or so later, I came back in, and my headache was almost gone!

    About an hour after that, I convinced Sixth Arrow to come outside with me to get some fresh air, too, since it helped me so much. I had her bundle up, and I carried a stool out from the garage and placed it outside under the garage overhang. I got on the stool, then lifted eight-year-old onto my lap. I wrapped an oversized baby blanket we’d gotten 12 years ago around her, and we sat there, all snuggled up as the daylight waned. Ten minutes of sheer bliss with youngest one. God gives so many precious gifts.

  10. 6 Arrows – Hoping this doesn’t get as bad as you described.

    I don’t know if this would apply to your son, but there is a theory that people with Asperger’s seem to not have empathy, but actually have so much empathy it hurts to show it. (That is a simplistic way of explaining it, but captures it in a nutshell.)

  11. Thanks, 6 Arrows. I am glad your headache went away.

    I am having some off and on shoulder pain. I must have stirred it up by pulling all those vines. I took aspirin but it has not diminished yet. Any who have a chance to pray, I’d like this pain to go away. Thanks.

    I have not talked with my friend for a few days so I have freed up a little time there.I need to talk with her tomorrow. She has really serious health issues.

    Now my leg feels achey, too.I wonder if I may be trying to fight off a flu bug or something.
