Last night we had a storm blow through and some were without power. Lucinda put a post on FB asking if anyone had a small generator they could use, they were without power and Mitch’s hospital bed was deflating. Later she posted this:
Ok so tonight was very stressful to say the least. Power went off, Mitchs bed was slowly deflating. Client locked out of her house ( and I had the only other key)! Ugh. Got a generator hooked up and power came back on ( thank goodness) so after all that I had a meltdown. A huge thank you to Megan, Bonnie, and Pam who wrapped their arms around me, held my hand, loved on me, and let me sob. Hospice has said how important touch is for Mitch and we are giving him that regularly but touch is important to me too. It’s what I miss the most right now. Mitch would always wrap his arms around me and everything was right in my world. It’s not the same from my girls but it sure helped tonight! Thanks to everyone who called and offered us a generator. I WILL have one of my own in my garage tomorrow!!!!
Please pray especially for Lucinda. She has been so strong and positive to the outside world through this whole thing, but she broke last night. I cannot tell you how much I have learned to love my husband more through her sharing of what they are going through.
It is situations like this that make the issue of a safe power grid so important. So many lives depend on it for so many reasons. Glad this woman had the help she needed!
I have read in several places that our power grids are vulnerable to terrorist attack.
That would be a tragedy for the entire natio9n.
We are so blasé about so much..
Sorry, Chas, for being a bad example by posting politics on the prayer thread. However, it was because of the post before mine, that I was commenting. Some posts just are not easy to categorize—just like people. 🙂
Please pray for my friend Ruth & her husband. Her husband is a tough man to be married to, & has mental health issues. He can be very controlling. Recently, it looked like he was starting to finally get serious about growing in the Lord, but I think he may have backed away from that now. Ruth just wrote on Facebook, referring to them both having iPhones now. . .
“He set up the account/phones. ALL text messages go to BOTH phones. Facebook & messenger can be accessed. I did change my password; but, that is of little use.”
So she can no longer freely communicate with her trusted friends the way she used to (via texts & Facebook messages). (She probably doesn’t talk on the phone about any important issues, because as a homeschooling mom, her children are always around her.
Back when she had a risky pregnancy with her last child, she was the one who had to mow the lawn. Then her husband decided the entire house had to be perfectly cleaned down to the last detail. That had her moving furniture around & such, & she was exhausted. Thank God she carried the little one to full term, & they were both okay.
He also ordered her to stop attending the church she & her children had loved, & they had to find another one (he rarely attended, but got a bee in his bonnet about something).
Not only is Ruth affected by his behavior, but their several children are negatively affected, too.
My cold is better thanks and the principal even did my yard duty on Monday!
Another small request, I emailed my friend who handles things and asked what tax documents had come. She said that she can’t find the key to my mailbox, so doesn’t know. Please pray that she will find the key. She has nothing to show that it is okay with me for her to get a new key.
Major praises to share, brings tears to my eyes…
Jon and Adie Leedahl and their three boys arrive back in country today. They are with New Tribes mission in Goroka. He is the pilot that was in the accident here and lost his leg. He plans on flying again. They were in Ukarumpa for training before they were medevaced.
Your prayers have been heard and answered and the prayers of so many.
One of my young brilliant relatives is either on her way or on the ground visiting Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates–of all places–to consider attending college there. Please pray for discernment, wisdom and both spiritual and physical safety for her. She’s 18.
Just talked to her dad–she leaves tomorrow and returns on Sunday. It just hit him she’s going and he’s feeling a little odd about the whole thing. She’s excited.
I have not been posting prayers lately partly because for this season I commit to pray for one of the state legislators during the annual session. I am also praying for Franklin Graham’s 50 state Decision Tour. Both of these are done in prayer journals. I do pray over what I see posted here, but don’t have as much time to post.
My friend, Karen, has been diagnosed with a very serious disease and she will soon need a lung biopsy. Her husband is having a tough time with the situation. Karen is worried about their three cats for the time she will be hospitalized. I am her main encourager.
Also, my brother did not get offered either job he interviewed for. I am his main encourager, too.
Prayers for encouragement for the encourager, please!

Sorry: I thought I was on the Politics thread.

And I do hope the generator is outside, and not in a closed garage or the house. Carbon monoxide is deadly.

Praise God, I’m amazed!
I don’t know why I’m ever amazed, but I am! 🙂

Of course she is excited. Nothing bad could possibly happen to her–she’s 18.
