  1. Here are a few notes I took at the Cruz rally last night:

He promises to “tear up” several of Obama’s executive orders and other policies on the first day; such ones as the Iran nuclear treaty and Obamacare.

He wants to move the embassy in Israel to Jerusalem.

He said he would take on radical Islamic terrorists, and added, “We will have a President that is willing to say ‘radical Islamic terrorist’.” Taxes on a postcard, abolish IRS.

When commenting about being an outsider, he said, “If you see a candidate Washington likes, run and hide.”

He took questions from the audience. One man asked about his claim to be a Christian. In reply, he said he thought every president should begin his day on his knees. He then added, “I’m a Christian first, an American second, a Constitutional Conservative third, and a Republican fourth.

In answering a question about homeschooling, he said he would abolish the Department of Education.

When asked about his stand on ethanol (a big issue in the number 1 corn producing state), he said he wants to level playing field for all forms of energy, letting the free market have its way. The media claims he is against ethanol; he is not against it, just the subsidies. Actually, he wants more produced. He mentioned that in Canada and South America, they use a 25% or 35% ethanol/gasoline blend that is illegal in the US, which he wants to change. In Iowa, there are many gasoline stations that sell the E-85 (85% ethanol) at a reduced rate because of the subsidies.

And his plan to destroy ISIS is to carpet bomb their territory, as well as arm the Kurds.

  2. My opinion: After last night I am going to vote for Ted Cruz, mainly because I feel he is the best choice among many good candidates. He is the one to stand up to any of the Democrats, and he is definitely not a nasty, egotistical tyrant like Trump seems to be.

AJ asked what he was like as a person. Well, we obviously didn’t get the chance to have a one-on-one conversation, but Rep. Steve King, a Congressman from Iowa, talked beforehand about being on a cramped us all day with Cruz, his family and aides. He mentioned how often cabin fever sets in and everyone gets grumpy. However, he said, everyone on the us was still in good moods after the long day, even Cruz himself. That said a lot about the man as a person.

The media portrays Cruz as mean spirited, but I didn’t see or hear any of that. Yes, his voice grates once in a while, but his persona is that of a gracious man who means what he says.

There is now a Cruz for President sign in my front yard and we have bumper stickers for both cars.

  3. I agree. Before this all started, I stated that my preferences were
    Scott Walker
    Ben Carson
    Ted Cruz.
Walker is out, Carson may as well be out.
That leaves Cruz. I am as afraid of Trump as I am of Obama. But if it comes to Trump and Clinton, it’s Trump
    Anybody but Hillary.

  4. Thoughts on the planned Parenthood video prosecution of the film maker.

    * It will go to higher courts if only because the DA did not recuse herself. They know that will happen but went for the splash of turning the tables on the journalist.

*Donna can better speak on this, but the media has been furious with the Obama administration for rules they have put into play
    against journalists.

The elite will argue the film maker wasn’t a journalist for a “bona fide” news organization and thus some powerful journalists will not take up his plight because of their political bias, not recognizing how they are hobbling their own news gathering ability.

Those with ethical standards have to back the film maker even if they don’t care for his message, because journalists have to be free to investigate.

Some one will bring up the whistle blower defense and the voices will drown it out.

We all need to pray truth would be revealed.

No one will confront what was in the videos.

I’ve been thinking about that brave young man who has made himself a martyr and of all the ethical believers God has used through the years to set his people free. We need to be praying for him and his attorneys.

    There are two of them:

David Daleiden and his colleague Sandra Merritt.

  5. Michelle,

It’s obviously a political prosecution. I find it ridiculous that they are prosecuting the filmmakers with trying to buy human organs (which is a crime), but not prosecuting PP with trying to sell human organs, which they were obviously doing. (and it’s also a crime)

That tells you all you need to know about this prosecutor and her motives.

And this certainly calls her motives into question as well…… as you said, she should have recused herself, and her office.

    http://www.lifenews.com/2016/01/26/planned-parenthood-board-member-works-in-office-of-d-a-who-indicted-david-daleiden/

“At the same time, Harris County District Attorney Devon Anderson (pictured) announced that Harris County’s investigation into the criminal conduct at Houston’s Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast has ended. Anderson said that the case is closed and that she has no further recourse.

The announcement of the closure of the Planned Parenthood investigation and indictment of Daldiden is very concerning for pro-life advocates — in part because a Planned Parenthood board member works as a prosecutor in the district attorney’s office.

The pro-life group Operation Rescue informed LifeNews.com that a prosecutor in the Harris County District Attorney’s office serves on the Board of Directors for Planned Parenthood.

Lauren Reeder is a prosecutor in the Harris County District Attorney’s criminal family law division. Reeder is listed as a non-compensated “Director” on the 990 Tax Form for 2014 filed by Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast.”

  6. Sadly, a couple of my journalist colleagues were gloating that Planned Parenthood was found innocent and that the legal authorities were going after the “video” makers. 🙄 One suggested we remake the front page to play it up more.

Wonder if that one PP exec ever got her fancy car?

I’ll ask the same question again now… how does this work out for Trump? Well, I’m here talking about it this morning. Every other political site I’ve looked at is covering it. CNN, MSNBC and, yes… Fox News are talking about it. With less than a week to go Trump has once again sucked every last molecule of oxygen out of the room. The only coverage the rest of the candidates are getting is to ask them what they think about Trump refusing to show up. Can anyone explain how this is a losing proposition for Trump?

I said it last night and I’ll say it again. The conventional wisdom is that the candidates have to debate. Unfortunately for the rest of them, Trump has once again torn up the rule book and moved the game to his own turf. People will call him a chicken and all manner of other names, predicting all sorts of doom and gloom. Meanwhile, the number of Trump supporters who abandon ship over this decision will probably be exactly the same as the last twenty scandals and outrages we’ve covered: zilch. If anything, Trump’s numbers will tick up in the early states if history is any guide because let’s face it… it’s hard to beat somebody at a game of chess when they keep flipping the board over on you.

  9. Sorry if any of this has been posted before….

Here’s a level-headed assessment of the Planned Parenthood/Harris County thing:

    http://www.thegospelcoalition.org/article/the-faqs-grand-jury-indicts-filmmakers-who-secretly-recorded-planned-parenthood

And here’s a facebook comment by Abby Johnson, a thoughtful pro-life woman:

    https://www.facebook.com/abbyjohnsonprolife/

And in case you can’t access that facebook page, I’ll just quote her post (I hope that’s OK):

Here is my comment about the indictment that has come from the a grand jury out of Houston against those who did the undercover investigation of Planned Parenthood.

First, a grand jury indictment is not a guilty verdict. Far from it. A grand jury indictment is simply saying that based on the evidence presented to them, (that we did not see) there is cause to move this to trial. Moving a case involving Planned Parenthood to trial is not a bad thing! There will be a lot of discovery, which is great!

We do not know what evidence the grand jury saw. But we do know that it was enough for them to say, “Hey, we think this needs to go to court.” That’s nothing to get upset about. I’m personally excited about the discovery that will take place against Planned Parenthood. And yes, if laws were broken by David or anyone else, then that will also come out. But we may finally get the truth out about Planned Parenthood. And that’s what we need to be praying for.

  10. So much hypocrisy from the left on the Oregon standoff.

They demand prosecutions! After all, they took over public land….. that no one was using anyway this time of year.

Yet these same liberals can’t seem to grasp that the Occupy Wall St. did the same, on a much larger scale when they took over the public streets of NY and cost the city millions in cleanup, policing, and lost revenue for merchants. Yet the left celebrates them.

Same goes for BLM. They take over public roads, shut down highways, businesses, and air travel, riot in the streets, and what not. Yet the left applauds these protesters.

And yet they act as if they can’t see which of the three are the least disruptive, damage causing, and business destroying “protests”. Well, I suspect they see it, they’re just playing willfully ignorant. Talk about hypocrites…..

  11. The Gospel Coalition article that SolarPancake shared was written by Joe Carter. Remember when he was moderator of the WMB? He was frequently frustrated with the tone of the discourse, & tried to teach us about logical fallacies & such.

  12. I’m gonna at least try to watch it, as much as I can stand anyway. 🙂

I think Megyn Kelly should do a surprise walk on. 🙂 You know, some good ol’ fashioned ambush journalism. Then Bill can go all Morton Downy Jr/Jerry Springer on ’em both. 😆

THAT would be must see TV.

  13. I will say I’ve seen a number of posts today from reputable groups and well-regarded conservative individuals (including quite a number of Christians among them) voicing alarm over Trump’s apparent support and cautioning people to beware of voting for him.

So maybe there’s a “what-are-you-thinking” groundswell that’s growing and will have some influence.

  14. Two immovable forces. Getting nowhere.

Watching O’Reilly & Trump. Two bulls in a ring.

Oh no, now they’re trying to discuss theology, a total, cringe-worthy disaster on both sides. Hands over my ears. I can’t take it. 🙂 🙂

OK, time to walk the dogs.
