Prayer Requests 1-4-16

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 56

¹Be merciful unto me, O God: for man would swallow me up; he fighting daily oppresseth me.

Mine enemies would daily swallow me up: for they be many that fight against me, O thou most High.

What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.

In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.

Every day they wrest my words: all their thoughts are against me for evil.

They gather themselves together, they hide themselves, they mark my steps, when they wait for my soul.

Shall they escape by iniquity? in thine anger cast down the people, O God.

Thou tellest my wanderings: put thou my tears into thy bottle: are they not in thy book?

When I cry unto thee, then shall mine enemies turn back: this I know; for God is for me.

10 In God will I praise his word: in the Lord will I praise his word.

11 In God have I put my trust: I will not be afraid what man can do unto me.

12 Thy vows are upon me, O God: I will render praises unto thee.

13 For thou hast delivered my soul from death: wilt not thou deliver my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of the living?

  1. Heavenly Father,

Thank You for peace, calm, and rest. Thank You for being the One Who is worthy of our trust when we could get frantic with anxiety. Thank You for giving us hope for a good future when things appear bleak. I praise You for lifting up spirits above what circumstances dictate.

Thank You that Jo appears to have had a good Christmas this year. Please let all go smoothly as she travels home to PNG. I ask for safety on the roads and in the air. Please keep Your army of angels guarding her at all times. May she have many good memories from this unique Christmas trip. I ask that she will relive the pleasures each time she engages her classes with discussion about New Zealand.

Thank You for keeping us safe on the trip to Hilton Head. We had a close call. Thank You that it was not serious. Please help that young couple to get on track with You. May they not endanger lives with reckless driving. Please help them to really think of this as a warning from You and change their ways to protect rather than to endanger lives. Please let them be a favorable witness of the military in the future.

Abba, please wrap Your love around Kbells and her family during this time. Please help all those suffering grief such as Kim ‘ s friend. May Your great love and the prayers of many be felt as a soft cushion on which to rest.

Please help Art and me as we get ready to go into another procedure on the 11th. Please, may this be the one that takes care of the kidney issues. And please let there be much less pain this time? And please give our son good travels on his upcoming trips.

Please make a good situation for Carol, Donna ‘ s friend. You know what is best given her needs.

Please help Michelle as she gets back in the trenches and tries for a partial revision to help her work to be salable on a greater scale. Please help her with designing her story to have more appeal from the marketing angle without losing what Michelle wants it to convey for Your glory. Please give her second and third winds, an endurance that will be ever renewable as needed.

Thank You for all the ways You are at work in each of these lives. I pray in the name of Jesus, Amen.

  2. For those praying for Jody and her husband and daughter:

Jody was taken off life support yesterday evening. She is breathing on her own, and will soon be (or maybe already has been) moved out of the ICU to hospice care. She is unresponsive to pain, unlike when she was first brought to the hospital on Christmas Eve, and on Christmas morning and early afternoon. She showed very normal reactions to pain when poked in one foot, but was slower to respond to pain stimuli on the other side of her body. After she had the “big” stroke the afternoon of Dec. 25 (they originally called it a seizure, but later identified it as the major stroke following a series of smaller ones), she was completely unresponsive to any pain anywhere, and did not squeeze Randy’s hand anymore like before, and has not responded to voices since then, either. The time or times she opened her eyes on Tuesday, December 29 when the nurses would move her were reflexive, not purposeful. Her eyes would open barely a crack, and she did not focus.

Randy has only left the hospital once since the 24th, to go to the bank. Even that was very difficult. He struggled to leave Jody’s side. It wasn’t until his third attempt to leave, one time getting out as far as his car in the parking lot before turning and going back in to Jody, that he was able to leave her at the hospital for a brief period. It has been several days now since then, I believe. Please pray for him, as he’s had little sleep, and hardly eats. He is continuing to take his medication for high blood pressure and cholesterol, though–his sister brought his meds to the hospital early on.

Please continue to pray for Tatyanna, also. She was getting rides to and from the hospital with relatives in the early days, but insisted against her father’s will that she wanted to come and go as she pleased, without waiting for relatives to take her away from the hospital when being there was too much for her. So she has her car at the hospital, and drives back and forth from there to home, which is over two hours, round trip. Please pray for safety on the road for this young, relatively inexperienced driver operating a motor vehicle under such emotional upheaval. 😦

All other prayers welcome and appreciated, too, for needs you recognize in these situations. Jody is 50 years old and was in very good health before this.

    Thank you.
