😦 I was reading in World about how an eleven year old boy was detained by officials.
Boko Haram had trained him to be a suicide bomber. He told them that three fellow trainees had already been blown up.
I sopped reading and prayed. “Lord this is sheer evil. Just evil. You need to do something about this.”
I don’t know if it was the Spirit, of just my imagination, but something said to me. not audibly, it just “occurred” to me.
It’s going to get worse.
The Obama admin’s goal of spreading perversion to the rest of the world is meeting some resistance, and not surprisingly, claims that it’s done more harm than good.
“Suspicious neighbors and landlords pry into their private lives. Blackmailers hunt for victims on the social media sites they use to meet other men. Police officers routinely stop them to search for incriminating images and chats on their cellphones.
After an anti-gay law went into effect last year, many gay Nigerians say they have been subjected to new levels of harassment, even violence.
They blame the law, the authorities and broad social intolerance for their troubles. But they also blame an unwavering supporter whose commitment to their cause has been unquestioned and overt across Africa: the United States government.”
“Four years ago, the American government embarked on an ambitious campaign to expand civil rights for gay people overseas by marshaling its diplomats, directing its foreign aid and deploying President Obama to speak before hostile audiences.
Since 2012, the American government has put more than $700 million into supporting gay rights groups and causes globally. More than half of that money has focused on sub-Saharan Africa — just one indication of this continent’s importance to the new policy.
America’s money and public diplomacy have opened conversations and opportunities in societies where the subject was taboo just a few years ago. But they have also made gay men and lesbians more visible — and more vulnerable to harassment and violence, people on both sides of the gay rights issue contend. The American campaign has stirred misgivings among many African activists, who say they must rely on the West’s support despite often disagreeing with its strategies.”
One thing about Trump’s campaign especially bothers me. His high numbers in the polls seems to be confirming to many liberals that their stereotype of Republicans (& those with a conservative bent in general) is indeed true. As one post I saw on Facebook said, “Republicans are racist, insecure, and vindictive extremists wrapped in an imitation Christian veneer.” 😦
Then there is this post from a liberal friend who seems truly heartsick by what she is seeing the Republican candidates. . . .
“I’m so emotionally drained by the people who legitimately support the candidates the Republicans have offered for the presidency. I’m not physically built to understand how people are so full of vile thoughts about wanting to purge this country of people who aren’t white and straight and self-described as “Christian”. . . I can’t understand people who think others deserve to suffer for the crime of not being born filthy rich. . . I don’t understand people who proudly claim to be pro-life and then turn around and applaud the idea of dropping bombs on civilians just because they are in a country where the primary religion is Islam, or are pro-military and pro-a-million-unnecessary-stupid-wars at all. . .
“I don’t understand these people. I don’t understand what motivates these things.”
This is how many people see Republicans & conservatives. 😦
One of my relatives stopped posting such vicious items when, sincerely hurt, I just asked on FB, “Is that how you see me? Because if it is, I need to apologize and change.”
Well Karen, I’d say she’s confused from the get-go, and seems intent on making R’s out to be the monsters she’s sure they are.
Her first mistake, which she admits to start off, is allowing her emotions to cloud the picture. These emotions cause her to make ridiculous claims such as “people are so full of vile thoughts about wanting to purge this country of people who aren’t white and straight and self-described as “Christian”. I mean wow, project much does she?
It’s not vile or hateful to expect that laws, rules, and procedures in place be followed. Nobody wants to purge anyone, unless of course you’re a criminal who deserves to be deported. But again, what’s unreasonable about expecting people to follow the law? You know the answer. Nothing.
And when did we ever say we wanted to deport/purge gays? Sure, there’s a couple of nuts, but no one is proposing doing so. Just a ridiculous straw man for her to beat. Really? 🙄
Also, nobody is saying deport/purge all muslims. But given recent events, it’s not unreasonable to slow things down, review some procedures, and fix some obvious mistakes in the process. Those errors cost people their lives and loved ones. Is it unreasonable to expect that these things be addressed, and that we be a little more discerning in who we allow in?
As for the race card….. How original…. 🙄
The next to last refuge of scoundrels…. 🙄
Next up we have this little peach.
“I can’t understand people who think others deserve to suffer for the crime of not being born filthy rich.”
I wasn’t aware that it’s a crime. And I didn’t realize I was suffering because of it. I wasn’t born rich, never will be either. But so what? I should be jealous of those better off? So should I covet the riches of others, to play Robin Hood with? I read a book once that was quite clear that coveting what others have is a bad idea. 🙂
She needs to grow up. That’s life. Someone will always have better toys than you.
And then this.
“I don’t understand people who proudly claim to be pro-life and then turn around and applaud the idea of dropping bombs on civilians just because they are in a country where the primary religion is Islam, or are pro-military and pro-a-million-unnecessary-stupid-wars at all. . .”
My response to this ……
Well, let me start off by saying this is why you rarely see me comment on anything on Facebook like this. My response to this would not be very nice. Where do I even begin? The stupid is so strong with this one……
I’ve met many soldiers, been one myself. Rare is the soldier or former one who is pro any war, let alone her imaginary million. I’ve met even fewer Christians who were. Soldiers know better than anyone the costs of war, ruined marriages, broken families, mangled bodies, and shattered minds to name a few. War truly is hell on earth. It’s insulting to suggest people want that.
If she had a clue, she’d be pro-military too. She’s allowed to exist in her tiny little bubble, safe from micro- aggressions and logical thinking because brave, good men have stood up and actually defended her right to be a clueless clown. Again, she nothing about what she’s speaking about. But in her self-righteous bubble reality holds little sway. She knows what she knows. Which is very, very little.
And no one is applauding the death of civilians, certainly not the military. But again, more casualties of war. When you fight a cowardly enemy who hides among them, this will happen.
In make believe land where she lives it might not, but here it does.
I’m also amused by the fact that she thinks Islam is why those countries are being bombed. She’s right, but not for the reasons she thinks. They’re not bombing them because they’re muslim, it’s because they’re terrorists. The fact that the religion of Islam is what motivates these terrorists continues to escape her though. She can’t admit to that. Liberals never can. But they wants it both ways. 🙄
““I don’t understand these people. I don’t understand what motivates these things.””
There’s a boatload of stuff she doesn’t understand. And yet she gets to vote… 🙄
Karen, I suspect that’s what her bias has been all along, it wouldn’t matter who was running well in the polls. Anything she sees will reinforce what she already believes about conservatives and/or Republicans — that they’re racist and act from what are the worst possible motives.
(And, frankly, a good number of independents and Democrats also apparently like Trump, so there you go.)
Come to think of it, committed leftists actually believe & say those exact same things (always dripping in self-righteous tones) about any and all of the Republican candidates — every time — anyway. 😉
Interesting letter to the editor in yesterday’s paper, by a pastor in a nearby town. He was commenting on how Christianity is the only vile religion that needs to be stomped out. He claimed there are no atheists, everybody has a god and how they serve it. He also commented that the religion being applauded and welcomed right now around the world, is Islam. It will probably come here and become the dominant belief. In which case, nobody will need to worry about us crazy Christians. But then again there won’t be homosexuals or bikinis or atheists or alcohol or abortion clinics or other religions or, or or, either…..
In Husband’s continuing efforts to educate the public, he has sent this letter to the paper:
Did you know that Old Testament stories are foundational for all three major religions (Islam, Judaism, and Christianity)? However, the defining text for Christianity is the New Testament.
The Bible and Quran diverge at Abraham. The Bible and Quran agree that God (Allah) promised a son to Abraham. Sarah (Abraham’s wife) is old and does not believe the promise can be fulfilled through her so she encourages Abraham to “visit” her servant (Hagar). Hagar gives birth to Ishmael. Thirteen years later, Sarah gives birth to Isaac.
Both texts agree that Abraham was commanded to sacrifice his son. Jews believe that Isaac (as the fulfillment of God’s promise) accompanied Abraham while most Muslims believe that Ishmael (as the first born) went with Abraham. The Jew built their temple at the site of Abraham’s encounter with God. Years later the temple was destroyed and Muslims built the revered Mosque (the Dome of the Rock) on the same ground. This location in Jerusalem is sacred to both religions.
Christians believe that Jesus is a descendant of Isaac and is divine. The Quran tells us that Messiah Jesus arrives via a virgin birth, is a prophet, but not divine. He will return to earth to proclaim Mohammed as the true prophet of Allah. Jesus will then slay anyone who refuses to bow to Mohammed. Of course, these words are recorded in the Quran (authored solely by Mohammed) while the 66 books of the Bible were written by 40 authors, none of whom was Jesus.
The small oil-rich nation of Brunei, in Asia, that prohibits propagation of any other religion apart from Islam, has banned Christmas celebration, threatening celebrators with five years in jail.
Other banned activities, according to a decree by Sultan, Hassanal Bolkiah include putting up Christmas trees, singing religious songs and sending Christmas greetings, reported the Borneo Bulletin.
While non-Muslims are allowed to celebrate the holiday within their own communities, they must not disclose their plans to the nation’s Muslims – which make up 65 per cent of the 420,000-strong population.
Around 20 per cent of Brunei’s residents are non-Muslim, including substantial Buddhist and Christian communities.
‘These enforcement measures are…intended to control the act of celebrating Christmas excessively and openly, which could damage the aqidah (beliefs) of the Muslim community,’ said the Ministry of Religious Affairs in a statement.
Some Burnei residents, however, are risking jail time by still celebrating Christmas and uploading pictures to social media as part of a #MyTreedom campaign that celebrates religious freedom.
me talking: A curiosity to me is, because Islam holds Mary in high regard and calls Jesus a prophet, why not celebrate His birth?
AJ – I agree with everything you wrote. Unfortunately, the liberal media has done a good job of spreading those kinds of stereotypes, & many people tend to attribute wrong or evil motives to those with whom they disagree. Then Trump comes along with his tough talk, & some people look at his poll numbers & think, “Yeah, those Republicans really are as bad as I’ve heard.”
Mumsee, some Muslims do celebrate, or at least participate in Christmas celebrations. It was an official holiday in a certain West African country. A friend who lives in a city with a large immigrant population said she saw Muslim women buying Christmas decorations this year. I had a Muslim friend (we’ve lost contact over the years) who would send me Christmas cards. Many of them like the celebration – even if it is just for the food and decorations.
If Christmas was just about Jesus’ birth it would be perfectly acceptable in Islamic teaching. I remember seeing a imam preaching on television who said that Jesus was born during the month of Ramadan. However, Christians emphasize the Incarnation during Christmas, the fact that God became flesh and dwelt among us. There was a comment by a Muslim, under one of the Middle Eastern hymns of the Nativity when I was looking for music. The Muslim commenter said, to paraphrase, it was disgusting to think that God could pass through a woman’s birth canal and sit on a toilet. It is Christ’s divinity knit to his humanity at which Islam balks, as does everyone who is not born again. Paul and John were dealing with the Gnostics in their day, who balked at the same thing, causing John to say, “Every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God.” Christ said that no one could come to Him unless the Spirit of God drew him. Our faith and wonder in the Incarnation is a gift from God.
Okay, that makes some sense. I thought it might be the big emphasis on gifts and Santa Claus. So, how do the Mormons do it? Jesus was a man on another planet and did so well he became a god. Then he was born to Mary? So Christmas is okay? Confusing…
Back to Muslims: I wondered if it was our secular world saying we could not celebrate out of fear of offending the Muslims, but could not figure that out with their appreciation of Jesus and Mary. Do you know if it is certain sects that are okay with Christmas or is it up to the individual? I cannot remember if our friends from Kuwait celebrated it or not.

It doesn’t apply to them.
