Peter’s Pack of Pickled Pigskin Picks “15 – Week 13

It’s Thanksgiving Week. And since we all don’t want to spend the weekend worrying that we picked the turkey in a college football game, I’ll make this one a little easier. Most of these are easy pickings. Besides, it’s week 13 and there may be some here who are superstitious. Don’t want that bad luck effecting them. This is also Rivalry week, by the way. So a lot of the good teams are playing rivals that aren’t very good, but sometimes mediocre teams surprise their better rivals.  Maybe this wont be so easy after all.

(Rankings this week are based on the AP poll, since the new play off poll hasn’t come out yet. I’m sending this earlier on Tuesday than normal since we’re having company later and I don’t want to be rude.)

Enjoy! Just get the choices in by Friday morning at 12 noon EST, since the tie breaker game starts then.

1. Western Michigan (6-5) @ #24 Toledo (9-1)
2. Oregon St (2-9) @ #18 Oregon (8-3)
3. #20 Washington State (8-3) @ Washington (5-6)
4. #3 Iowa (11-0) @ Nebraska (5-6)
5. #8 Ohio State m(10-1) @ #12 Michigan (9-2)
6. #22 UCLA (8-3) @ USC (7-4)
7. #11 North Carolina (10-1) @ NC State (7-4)
8. #2 Alabama (10-1) @ Auburn (6-5)
9. #19 Ole Miss @ #23 Mississippi State (both 8-3)
10. Tie breaker: Miami (FL) (7-4) @ Pitt (8-3) pick winner and score.

  2. Chas’ wild guesses.
I picked the same as Aj, except for the tie breaker. So, I’m changing the Ohio State/Michigan guess. I had doubts about that anyhow..;-)

    Toledo
    Oregon
    Washington State
    Iowa (Purdue beat Nebraska)
    Ohio State
    UCLA
North Carolina (Though South Carolina beat them. They got their act together..)
Alabama ???Real rivalry. You never can tell
    Ole Miss Same comment
    Miami 7, Pitt 21

“What am I, chopped liver?” I only differ from AJ in two games and 3 with Chas. And I almost chose Chas’ usual 21-7 score so he would have to say something else. But I was nice.

Oh, and I kind of intended this week to make the tie breaker more important, since most of us will agree on several of the games.

  5. Several upsets so far: WMU over Toledo, Washington over WSU, Miami over Pitt. It looks like Mumsee got the tiebreaker, as she is the only one to pick Miami in that game.

    We’ll see what today brings.

  6. I think this will be a first. We are going to have a tie here in the Pigskin Picks. Kbells and Janice have 7 each with only one game to go. They both picked Ole Miss over Mississippi State, so it doesn’t matter how the game turns out. So, we’ll have to see who gets the tie breaker choice. Most of the games are conference playoffs. Ladies? Work it out.

  7. Thank you, kbells. Janice?

    Final results:
kbells and Janice 8 (Neither got the correct team in the tie breaker, thus the tie. Kbells deferred to Janice for next week.)
    Chas and Cheryl 6
    AJ, Tychicus and Peter 5
    Mumsee and Ricky W 4

    Game results:
    WMU 35 Toledo 30
Oregon 52 Ore St 42 (They’re ready for basketball, evidently.)
Washington 45 Wash St 10 (See what I mean by records not that important in rivalry games?)
    Iowa 28 Neb 20
OSU 42 Mich 13 (Ohio St had something to prove.)
    UNC 45 NC St 34
    Tide 29 Tigers 13
    Ole Miss 38 MSU 27
    Miami Fl 29 Pitt 24

  8. It’s a difficult choice because I attended both Georgia Southern and Georgia State. To make it easier, I will chose the tie breaker to be the Texas and Baylor game.

Wow! Seems like my very last minute guesses made by my key-tapping fingers rather than my logical over think brain seemed to give me the skill I previously lacked 🙂
