Prayer Requests 11-16-15

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 14

¹The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

The Lord looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God.

They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge? who eat up my people as they eat bread, and call not upon the Lord.

There were they in great fear: for God is in the generation of the righteous.

Ye have shamed the counsel of the poor, because the Lord is his refuge.

Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! when the Lord bringeth back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.

  1. I am haunted by an unspeakably horrible nightmare about my youngest child that I had right before waking up this morning. She is safe in her bed, sleeping right now, and I know dreams are not reality, but my heart won’t stop pounding. Prayers that I can get through this day moment by moment. I’m still so shaken up, a half hour after waking, to the point of tears. I don’t know why this is affecting me so much.

  2. Been there. I’ll never forget the horror and now it’s brought back, of a dream in which I unearthed . . . well, never mind.

Stargazer has another job interview today. We all like this one and who else is experienced working with a spectrometer? Thankful for any prayers.

  3. Please pray for my husband’s surgery scheduled for Wed.I am not focused on what all could go wrong, just trying to stay positive and know God is in control. He will have a biopsy at the connection of the bladder and the tube carrying the urine. And maybe another spot. Then he will have his enlarged prostate reduced in size so at a later date when kidney stones get blasted the tube will not be under pressure and lessened in function from the enlarged prostate. Sorry for all the details, but God does appreciate specific prayers so you can get as specific as you desire when you lift Art up to God. Thank you.

  4. Well, today is a brighter day. Lee has an interview this afternoon at 1:00, for a job at Diana’s Bakery (for 3rd shift delivery driver). The man who called him used to be his boss at Hostess/Wonder Bread.

I will admit that of all the jobs he’s been considering applying for, Diana’s 3rd shift delivery job was the one I would have least wanted for him. BUT … it is a job that can help get us through until something else comes along if he doesn’t want to stay with Diana’s. My concern is that it will be hard for him to sleep while Forrest is around in the afternoons. But I guess we can work that out. (At least Emily can try to keep Forrest upstairs as much as possible. Or Lee can sleep earlier in the day, when he gets out of work.)

  5. I have another prayer need. I’ve received a project from one of my most frequent commentors on my blog with a request for an opinion. This man is dying a gruesome death and I need wisdom to know how to respond appropriately.

He’s been blogging for months about dealing with a dying spouse. Powerful, intuitive, important posts. Here’s today’s: http://blessed-are-the-pure-of-heart.blogspot.com/2015/11/your-dying-spouse-83-temptations.html

The project he sent me, as a favor, is different and problematic. Solomon would be helpful about now . . . Thanks.

  6. Feeling conflicted.

Lee was offered the job. That’s great, right? Unfortunately, it doesn’t pay very well, so if he takes it (he still has to pass a physical), he would still have to look for something better. And he’s talking about getting a part-time job, too.

I am grateful that this job will help us get by for a while, & that it happened so quickly. I just hope that the “something better” comes along fairly quickly, too, so he doesn’t have to work a job & a half.

For his part, Lee is saying that working a job & a half would still be less stress on him than the worries & stress he had with his bread route.

Committing it all into the Father’s hands.

  7. Please continue to pray for his health (particularly healing from the advanced prostate cancer, & healing & strengthening of his heart). He has finally gotten around to making an appointment with a cardiologist, which was recommended back in April. The appointment is not until December 29.

  8. That’s true, Mumsee, but I was hoping he’d be able to work fewer hours. But he likes to work, & at least the stress he had with the route will be off his shoulders.

  9. More bad news for Stargazer. We’re pretty bummed over here tonight. 😦 That was the last good lead–for the moment.

Now I’m wondering if my daughter will get into med school–always a long shot. Sigh. It’s tough to be a mother of adults and not be able to fix things anymore. 😦

  10. Sorry to hear that, Michelle. It can be so hard to find a job in this economy, and I imagine that’s especially so in California. 😦

Karen, I’m glad to hear Lee got offered the job so soon. That is a blessing.

  11. I’d appreciate your prayers for our drive home from BC tomorrow (well to Calgary, anyways). The mountain passes are snowy and treacherous. My sister and BIL and my folks are stuck on the highway where 4 semis slid around and completely blocked the highway. Prayers for a safe trip the rest of the way for them, too, please.

We had all driven to Vancouver for my cousin’s wedding (so much fun) and now we’re all heading home, but Tim and I opted to stay overnight halfway, while my sister (and the rest) are going all the way to Calgary today.
