  1. As a child raised by two lesbians and a young man caught up in the homosexual lifestyle who then converted to Christianity and is now married to a woman, Robert Oscar Lopez has a unique perspective.

I don’t agree with all he writes. I’m not sure I agree with all of this article, but I appreciate his recognition of the need to protect children from perversion. This recognition is widespread in Russia and many African and Asian countries, but is almost completely nonexistent in the US.

  2. Like the Pizza Parlor in Indiana, this issue in Kentucky wasn’t an issue until they made it one.
Louisville is just down the road. They can always find a marriage license there. They wanted something and they got it.

I haven’t given up hope for America yet.
    The next election will tell.

  3. I am reading in the weeklyWashington Times that George Soros is working to promote the Black Lives Matter movement through his Open Society Foundation.
Soros has no interest in black lives.
His intent is to stir up trouble wherever he can.

  4. Chas – Or he is trying to stay on the good side of the activists who would try to tear him down for not backing them. (Not all people who stand behind the “Black Lives Matter” slogan are activists or militants, but some are, & they get the attention.)

As for your other comment, that reminds me of a question I had: Can people just go to another town or county for their marriage license, or do they have to get it in the town & county in which they live?

Really? When you associate and protest with radicals, guess what, you’re a radical too! 🙄

Now if you have some link showing peaceful BLM protests, with reasonable non-activists in their ranks, please share it, because it would be the first I’ve seen.

  6. Anonymous – I wasn’t referring to the protesters, but to ordinary people standing behind the slogan.

It seems that many people think that the slogan means that only black lives matter, but that’s not the original intent. Here is what I wrote to a friend on Facebook…

“This is my understanding of it: With many young black men dying at the hands of police officers, & due to other racial issues they deal with, many blacks have felt that whites don’t think they matter much. So, “Black Lives Matter” is supposed to include the understanding that there is a “too” in there – “Black Lives Matter, Too” – not that they matter more than other lives.

An analogy that may (or may not) help: Say there is a group of people, a family or a church or whatnot, where a small subset of them are often ignored or misused. So the people of that subset say, “Hey, we matter!”

Then the rest of the group responds, “We all matter!” & continues treating them the same way. The subset takes “We all matter” as being dismissive of their needs & feelings, as many blacks take “All Lives Matter” to be dismissive of their concerns.

Unfortunately, if I understand correctly, “All Lives Matter” started with people crossing out “Black” & substituting “All” on signs or graffiti, which was offensive to many others, blacks & whites.

Although I understand all this, I still think it is evidence of our adversarial culture (or society or whatever you want to call it) that these slogans have become so controversial.”

  7. Reminders of our eternal perspective (although, generally, on most given days lately, yes, I do think the sky is falling):

    http://www.desiringgod.org/articles/this-is-the-best-of-times-and-the-worst-of-times

    Key points:

    1. Don’t assume any specific historical trajectory of good or evil is fixed and unchangeable. God evidently loves to do his surprising work in hard and unlikely times.

    2. Trust the sovereignty of God to turn the insanity of the nations to serve his purposes.

    3. Let us labor to bind the minds and consciences of our young people to the word of God as infallible, and glorious, and utterly timely, and penetrating, and invincible.

    4. And, as the apostle Peter says, “Let those who suffer according to God’s will entrust their souls to a faithful Creator while doing good” (1 Peter 4:19).

  8. Guess Who, On a related note, we asked our 13-18 year olds in Sunday School to name the most important ingredients for a church. The item which was on the list of all six groups was: Sound Doctrine. Some called it something else, but it made every list and shocked all the teachers in a positive manner.
