    How does anyone obtain this information? This is extremely disturbing…”

    USSS Communications Director Anthony Guglielmi and two others were placed on leave and escorted out of the building. The officials’ govnerment devices have been seized and security clearances revoked as part of internal misconduct probe.

    Secret Service declined to comment on investigation involving CIA and FBI.

    This comes after Trump’s Air Force One swap involving a secret maneuver through a catering cart was leaked to the media. It also follows recent detailed revelations of JD Vance’s protective operations to the media.

    Guglielmi is known to have lied about January 6th— deleting text messages and lying about Butler.

    Why wasn’t he fired years ago?”

    Five years ago yesterday they were still breathing at Abbey Gate. Then a bomb walked into the gap their leaders had already opened, and thirteen Americans became the last invoice of a twenty-year war.

    Say their names before you say anything else. They were not a talking point. They were other people’s children. Most of them had lived the entire war as the war. While their peers hunted fellowships, they enlisted into the only adult world they had ever known. Then they were sent to hold a gate in a retreat designed by people who would never stand on that concrete.

    They did the work. The C-17 crews did the work. The twenty-year-old E-3s did the work. They filled a breach created in Washington and blessed in Tampa: bad intelligence, late honesty, political time, constraints dressed up as strategy. The enemy had to get lucky once. Our “best” had already arranged the luck.

    Do not tell their families it was just chaos. Do not call the panic a success because the last planes left. Do not hide behind process, credentials, and the soothing lie that nobody could have seen it. They saw it from the gate. They paid for it with their bodies.

    Five years later the dead still have names. The people who put them there still have careers, talking points, and the nerve to change the subject. Honor below does not erase failure above. If this country still has a spine, it will stop living by that lie.

  6. As to Kathleena’s post, I trained as a reporter at Donna’s newspaper (before Donna), and I learned a lot about journalism and local news (which was in my hometown).

    The thing that frustrated me about our local paper–which we now read online–is the reporters they have are young, which is not an issue, but they’re ignorant of the area and they fill their stories with a smug assurance that they know more about our town than the people who have lived here for at least a few years longer than them.

    When you write to point out potential errors, they shun you.

    When you ask a question or suggest a story idea, they send you government reports, from which they probably gained their information–which was wrong.

    The paper is filled with NYTimes articles–I live 3500 miles from NYC–and stories about hockey players in New England.

    I live 4000 miles away from Boston.

    I get the paper to see what my Adorables are doing on the high school sporting field.

    It takes to get the final scores, but I do occasionally see a kids’ name in the paper.

    They’re more interested in news away from our town than in what really concerns us–like fire and why the roads keep being narrowed to add a seldom-used bike lane.

    All they have to do for a broader series of stories is read the Neighborhood page–what I call the local complaint page–and then, at least, they would know what concerns the folks in our town of about 50K people.

  9. Our newspaper is mostly articles about faraway places from AP etc. We do have some local news, which is what I am most interested in. It skews left for the most part. It does list the local events we may want to attend. It also does cover some local news and the obits, of course, which are important to us. It also has opinion and letters to the editor, which I like to read.

    We have another local paper (a weekly) that contains articles written by local people. Anyone can contribute. It may be history of different areas or explaining a disease few understand or whatever someone wants to share. It has special editions on health or the mining industry, which is huge here. Some articles are more serious, and some are amusing. There is a recipe page and one reviewing classic books and movies.

    I support both papers, because I think it is important to have them.

    I do know people who have no idea what is going on around them. They do not read newspapers, and they do not watch local news. Some go on FB asking things they would know if they kept up with the news. Losing local reporting on local stations will be a loss. Sports, though, are a big thing in both print and video on the local channels. Parents and grandparents always want to see that.
