Prayer Requests 8-21-15

Today’s Friday, so don’t forget to pray for Mumsee, Mike, and the young folks at The Nest.

Anyone else have something to share?

Psalm 81

¹Sing aloud unto God our strength: make a joyful noise unto the God of Jacob.

Take a psalm, and bring hither the timbrel, the pleasant harp with the psaltery.

Blow up the trumpet in the new moon, in the time appointed, on our solemn feast day.

For this was a statute for Israel, and a law of the God of Jacob.

This he ordained in Joseph for a testimony, when he went out through the land of Egypt: where I heard a language that I understood not.

I removed his shoulder from the burden: his hands were delivered from the pots.

Thou calledst in trouble, and I delivered thee; I answered thee in the secret place of thunder: I proved thee at the waters of Meribah. Selah.

Hear, O my people, and I will testify unto thee: O Israel, if thou wilt hearken unto me;

There shall no strange god be in thee; neither shalt thou worship any strange god.

10 I am the Lord thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.

11 But my people would not hearken to my voice; and Israel would none of me.

12 So I gave them up unto their own hearts’ lust: and they walked in their own counsels.

13 Oh that my people had hearkened unto me, and Israel had walked in my ways!

14 I should soon have subdued their enemies, and turned my hand against their adversaries.

15 The haters of the Lord should have submitted themselves unto him: but their time should have endured for ever.

16 He should have fed them also with the finest of the wheat: and with honey out of the rock should I have satisfied thee.

  1. No real news on the fires this morning, though we were able to watch the glow from two of them in the night sky last night. We could even see stars about three in the morning, but then we found everything coated in ash this morning.

Prayer for the injured firefighters over in Washington, one in critical condition with burns over sixty percent of his body. Prayer for the families of those who died. One family lost their twenty year old son, their only child.

  2. Today, we head up to Moscow for our every other visit with my folks, and for my fortieth class reunion. I had nothing in common with those people forty years ago, I don’t know why I am going, I have never attended one in the past. But I am looking forward to learning why I was motivated to go this time, though I may not learn that for a long time. Thanks for praying with me, for opportunity to share the Lord with others.

  3. With all the other prayers needs, I forgot to list a praise from this week. I saw the doctor for my quarterly examination of blood work and he was beyond shocked at how much my stats had improved. “You even look different.”

He doubled one of my med dosages in May and I’m pretty sure that’s what took 5-8 pounds off me which dropped my blood sugar numbers 20% and improved everything else in pretty amazing ways. I’m beyond grateful to the Lord for that and, frankly, too vain about my appearance now. I’m within ten pounds of what I weighed when I got married 38 years ago–or I weigh less now that I have in almost that long.

I’m not out of the woods yet, but I’m humbly thankful–and have, unfortunately, celebrated by eating ice cream three of the last four nights . . . but it’s gone, now. 🙂

  4. Quite the thread we have going here. 😉

    Two praises:

My mom’s incision is healing well, with little (or possibly, at this point) no more drainage. Today a small scabbed area is noticeable, and she has not needed any pain meds for the last few days.

Also, a misunderstanding between my sister-in-law and me from over two weeks ago, which got worse last night, has been very well resolved today. Praise to God for a restored relationship!

Thank you for all the prayers for what seems like the many requests I’ve made for the last few weeks.
