  1. A whole lotta un-shocking news…..

First up, look what’s in this week’s Friday news dump….

    http://dailycaller.com/2015/08/14/exclusive-hillarys-it-contractor-did-not-have-proper-security-clearance/#ixzz3ipLD7E2G

“Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton entrusted her email server to an IT firm that was not cleared to handle classified materials, according to the chief spokesman for the Defense Security Service.

The DSS is an arm of the Defense Department and is the only federal agency authorized to approve private sector company access to sensitive or confidential material.

The agency reviews and approves private contractors to assure they have secure facilities and approves security clearances for employees to clear them for access to sensitive or classified materials.

Since 2013, Clinton used Platte River Networks, a small Denver-based company, to upgrade and maintain her private email server at her home in Chappaqua, New York.”

“About 13,000 companies have received FCL or facility-wide clearance. But Platte River is not one of them.

“Platte River is not cleared” to have access to classified material, stated Cindy McGovern, chief public affairs officer for DSS in a telephone interview with The Daily Caller News Foundation.”

  2. Like I said, not shocking….

    http://freebeacon.com/issues/audit-healthcare-gov-did-not-verify-social-security-numbers-citizenship-status/

“Healthcare.gov’s internal controls did not effectively determine eligibility for coverage because Social Security numbers and citizenship status were not always verified properly, according to a Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) audit.

The Inspector General (IG) investigated HHS to determine whether the Federal marketplace’s internal controls determined correctly whether individuals were eligible for qualified health plans.

The IG found that the internal controls did not always correctly verify Social Security numbers, citizenship status, annual household income, and family size information to determine eligibility.

One applicant understated her income by $7,000. According to the IG, the marketplace should have compared this income data to available electronic data sources and realized that the applicant’s income was more than 10 percent below the income listed on these data sources. Then, the marketplace should have asked the applicant for additional evidence of income.

Instead, this applicant was not only verified, but was approved to receive the advance premium tax credit.

Another example of weak internal controls was found in efforts to verify citizenship status. The marketplace did not always verify this information through the Social Security Administration and the Department of Homeland Security, as was required.

The IG found that not only were there problems with internal controls, but once discrepancies were found, they were not handled properly.”

  3. And also not shocking, it turns out if you ignore the laws you don’t like, there will be bad consequences….

    http://www.foxnews.com/us/2015/08/13/police-chiefs-sheriffs-blast-ice-over-policy-say-frees-violent-illegal/?intcmp=hpbt1

“A California toddler fighting for her life Thursday after a brutal beating at the hands of an illegal immigrant with a long criminal record is the latest case to rile California sheriffs and police against a U.S. immigration policy they say is forcing them to release dangerous criminals out on the street.

Francisco Javier Chavez, the live-in boyfriend of the unidentified two-year-old’s mother, is out on bail after being charged in the late July attack, which left the San Luis Obispo County girl with two broken arms, a broken femur, a compressed spine, a urinary tract infection and a fever of 107 degrees. Chavez’s criminal record includes assault and drug convictions and arrests for violent acts including kidnapping, car jacking and cruelty to a child.

A disgusted San Luis Obispo Sheriff Ian Parkinson told FoxNews.com Chavez should have been locked away or deported long before he had the chance to inflict “horrific injuries” on the little girl, but said conflicting federal policies leave his department handcuffed. Instead, Chavez is now free, awaiting a court date for which he may not even show up.”

““The truth is, if we had any legal right to hold him, we would, because of the concern that, not being a U.S. citizen, he will bail out and flee the country and flee prosecution,” said Parkinson, who suspects Chavez may have already fled the county.

The issue, says Parkinson and dozens of other sheriffs and police chiefs across California and Arizona, is that, while Immigration and Customs Enforcement routinely asks departments to hold prisoners like Chavez until they can take custody of them for deportation, the local law enforcement officials believe doing so will expose them to lawsuits. They cite court cases including the March, 2014, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit ruling in Galrza v. Szalczyk that held states and localities are not required to imprison people based on ICE “detainer” requests, and that states and localities may be held liable if they participate in wrongful immigration detentions.”

  4. Round 2 (or is it 3?) of the Kelly vs. Trump bout

    http://money.cnn.com/2015/08/14/media/donald-trump-roger-ailes-dispute/index.html

“Kelly began a 10-day vacation after her Wednesday night broadcast. Fox says the vacation was planned well ahead of time. But some bloggers and commentators have circulated theories that Kelly was sidelined as a result of the Trump dispute.

“In an interview with Newsmax TV on Friday, Trump indicated that he was inclined to believe the theories.

” ‘There probably was’ a connection, he said. ‘But I wouldn’t know about it.’

“He added that ‘people were very very surprised that all of a sudden she decided to go away for 10 or 11 or 12 days.’ ….”

  5. He hasn’t been back to school since his first note home. He did try out for the baseball team today. I hope he makes it. It is his best sport and staying on the team will be incentive to stay our of trouble and keep his grades up.

  6. Im not quite sure how that court case prevents local police from detaining illegal immigrants. It only states they are liable for a wrongful detention. Just get ICE to sig a waiver each time they request detention. The other side of the coin is the local police are also liable if they decline to detain someone and that person commits a crime. I think here they are simply making excuses.

Kbells – how is that a liberal thing to do. Theres obnoxious men on both sides of the political divide. In a bit of inintended irony the man who banned Trump from the redstate gathering has said questionable things in the past

  7. It was down the thread a bit, but there was a letter of support from a poor Yankee who lived in a small apartment in New York City. This prompted a great outpouring of appreciation to the Yankee from patriotic Southerners. My favorite response began, “Dear Yankee Friend”.
