Prayer Requests 8-11-15

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 68:1-19

¹Let God arise, let his enemies be scattered: let them also that hate him flee before him.

As smoke is driven away, so drive them away: as wax melteth before the fire, so let the wicked perish at the presence of God.

But let the righteous be glad; let them rejoice before God: yea, let them exceedingly rejoice.

Sing unto God, sing praises to his name: extol him that rideth upon the heavens by his name Jah, and rejoice before him.

A father of the fatherless, and a judge of the widows, is God in his holy habitation.

God setteth the solitary in families: he bringeth out those which are bound with chains: but the rebellious dwell in a dry land.

O God, when thou wentest forth before thy people, when thou didst march through the wilderness; Selah:

The earth shook, the heavens also dropped at the presence of God: even Sinai itself was moved at the presence of God, the God of Israel.

Thou, O God, didst send a plentiful rain, whereby thou didst confirm thine inheritance, when it was weary.

10 Thy congregation hath dwelt therein: thou, O God, hast prepared of thy goodness for the poor.

11 The Lord gave the word: great was the company of those that published it.

12 Kings of armies did flee apace: and she that tarried at home divided the spoil.

13 Though ye have lien among the pots, yet shall ye be as the wings of a dove covered with silver, and her feathers with yellow gold.

14 When the Almighty scattered kings in it, it was white as snow in Salmon.

15 The hill of God is as the hill of Bashan; an high hill as the hill of Bashan.

16 Why leap ye, ye high hills? this is the hill which God desireth to dwell in; yea, the Lord will dwell in it for ever.

17 The chariots of God are twenty thousand, even thousands of angels: the Lord is among them, as in Sinai, in the holy place.

18 Thou hast ascended on high, thou hast led captivity captive: thou hast received gifts for men; yea, for the rebellious also, that the Lord God might dwell among them.

19 Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah.

  1. No sign of activity on the fires this morning. No cars and trucks on the road, no planes or helicopters in the sky. A lot of smoke. We cannot see the flames from here, so we must be okay so far.as it has not cleared the crest of the hill.

  2. Okay, we are back from the chores and with the sun up, lots of planes and helicopters. The helicopters are picking up water from the river and dumping it. Yesterday, they brought a troop of firefighters and landed them down in the canyon. Today, word is, the fire has reached the stubble of the wheat fields. Just harvested in the last days.

  3. Cheryl update.

We just returned from the doctor’s office. They removed the splint/cast as well as 35-40 staples. She has a 6 inch scar on the inside of the ankle and about a foot long curved one on the outside. They re-casted it and she has to stay off it until she returns to have the cast removed in 4 weeks. Then she will need at least 4 more weeks of therapy before she can drive and return to work. She still has a lot of pain and swelling and continued prayer would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Allen and Cheryl

  4. I think her flight was scheduled to leave the Midwest about an hour ago, Mumsee, so she’s probably still got another hour or hour and a half of flight time. Thanks.

I hope Cheryl finds relief from the pain and swelling soon, AJ.

  5. Heavenly Father,

Thank You for being attentive to our prayer requests. So much happens around the world that needs prayer attention that it keeps our heads spinning! Without Your excellent construction our heads would surely not stay attached! You created humans in a wonderful way for flexability physically, mentally, and emotionally. Thank You for that. Sometimes we break in various ways, but usually repairs can be made so we become functional again. That’s You at work every time. Thank You.

Please, Abba, help Cheryl with her continuing healing. I ask that her pain would subside. May her swelling decrease so there is not so much pressure on her skin and joints. I pray she will not have irritation or itching from the casting and other coverings. Thank You for carrying them through this. Please continue making financial arrangements so they need not worry one iota. You are trustworthy so we can begincounting blessings based on Your promises in Your word.

    In Jesus’ name, Amen

I am out of power. Prayers for Mumsee and others, too!

  6. The fire crested on a huge pine tree and then came straight on down. We loaded up animals but the fire crew rodeoed the fire back toward the canyon. The second surge is coming. We are loaded and ready to go.

  8. And to each of you that have prayed for me (and for all of us ) , I am so grateful for being lifted up. I feel supported and I feel a sense of peace. Prayer is so powerful and so comforting to me to know that I have brothers and sisters bringing our needs to our Lord.

  9. They turned it again. Thank God for fire fighters and farmers and neighbors. We should be good now, but remain packed.

Pray for the neighbors, please, all of them. The fire is big and going up the entire canyon on both sides. Nobody really lives in it but there are a few homes near it. The fire is expected to come straight up the canyon and into the next door neighbor’s house but the fighters have a cat and are making a big fire break and building an access road.

  10. Oh, and the sister who drove east coast sister to the airport is back home, too. She actually spent more hours on the road today than the other spent in a plane! So I should have included a request for the Midwest sister, too, I guess!

Anyway, everyone’s safe and sound, and I thank you all for the prayers you’ve offered up.

  11. Glad to hear it.

On this front, I did not see this much air power when we lived on the air base. There are lots of planes and helicopters fighting this and they seem focused on saving us. I appreciate the effort. We had yet another surge and some massive planes came in with retardant. They looked like 737’s flying low. The animals are all loaded again.

  12. Wow! Those massive planes finished it off around here. We have been told to stand down. The animals are back in their pens and the children are headed to bed and life returns to normal. What a coordinated effort to hit the fire just at its peak, moments before the neighbors hay barn and house would have gone up. God is truly awesome and coordinating all the folk was neat to see! Thanks for praying. Please continue to pray as the fires continue to blaze but we have been pretty much burned all around so, barring a direct lightning strike, we should be fine.

  13. Mumsee, I’m very glad to hear that. I can imagine that might have been quite an awesome sight!

When I was a little girl, probably 7-9, we were on vacation in California when a mountain caught fire, and they flew over it dropping fire retardant. Well, one older brother took home videos of various events, but Mom didn’t let him show us little ones any footage including fire lest we think that fire looked cool and we start burning stuff down. (He included special effects with fire in the “opening” to one of his videos, too. He put together a puzzle, and filmed it going together, and then once it was complete he set it on fire–but introduced the film with the whole sequence backward, first a burning puzzle, and then a complete puzzle, and then a puzzle being disassembled piece by piece.) Years later I saw the video of that fire on the mountain, and was shocked that it was just as “awesome” in the video as my childhood memories had it. I figured maybe it was some small fire my memory had exaggerated, but it was a raging fire, and every drop of the retardant was amazing to watch.
