  1. Unless, Ricky, the Muslims get it together and re-create another Ottoman Empire.
Don’t laugh, it could happen if they were to stop fighting each other.

But the animosity is great and I don’t see that happening soon.

  2. I’m afraid of Donald Trump. Almost as much as Obama.
He has good ideas, but a man who thinks he is god is dangerous, no matter how good his ideas are.
Hubris might make billions for him, but it won’t get people to work for him.
We need someone who can read and understand the Constitution. And who will appoint such people to the courts..

And a tiny bit of humility would help.

  3. Another Planned Parenthood lie is exposed. They claim they made no money off fetal remains, but that’s a lie. Anyone who worked there was making money pff of the trade of baby parts.

    http://dailycaller.com/2015/08/10/how-planned-parenthood-clinic-convinced-women-to-donate-aborted-babies/

“Abby Johnson quit her job as a Texas Planned Parenthood clinic director in 2009 after witnessing an ultrasound abortion. This is how she and her co-workers would convince women to donate their aborted babies for research, and, she says, profit from their consent.

“We never discussed, [researchers] may want just a leg, or an arm, or these specific organs,” Johnson told The Daily Signal in an interview published Monday. “That would create a sense of humanity in their unborn child.”

““And really, we would even shy away from calling it fetal tissue research because just calling it tissue sanitizes it — the women don’t necessarily think about the body of their baby, they’re just thinking about blood and tissue.”

She and her co-workers received a bonus of between $5 and $20 for every woman they personally convinced to donate to the clinic, depending on the value of that particular unborn baby. Once the woman agreed to have an abortion and signed the paperwork, clinic staff would bring up a “research opportunity.””

And that had nothing to do with “shipping costs.”

  4. One columnist referred to Trump as a demagogue, which is probably pretty accurate.

The guy’s a loose canon with (from what I can tell) no scruples or ethical grounding.

I’ll confess, I’m baffled by his polling numbers, although I still think much of it is a superficial, unthinking, silly ‘support’ that has little staying power and doesn’t mean a whole lot. But I said that a few weeks ago, too, before the latest dust ups that I thought would put an end to his “candidacy,” and his numbers still haven’t crashed.

We just have to wait it out, I guess. I still say he won’t last — but he still could be a factor in the outcome of the 2017 race if he runs as an independent. Our elections have become so close in recent years that even a few percentage points in one direction or another could swing the outcome.

  5. On the Trump “virus”

And yet, because Washington is a mess and a plague o’ both your houses! tendency currently obtains, the Trumpite is prone to assert without evidence or reason that these clear deficiencies are in fact a remedy for its ills. In the main, such gymnastics are roundly comical — comparable, perhaps, to a person’s choosing a disabled man to run in a marathon because he is especially bombastic. “But he can’t even walk,” the naysayers might observe. “That’s the point!” would come the inexplicable reply. “He’s not like the others!”

  6. Interesting assessment

(Obama) united the civil rights or identity politics wing, the economic or egalitarian wing and the more elitist technocratic wing. … Aided by his experience as a former community organizer and his historic status as the first black president, Obama held the coalition together through force of personality. …. But the Obama coalition seems to be fraying while he’s still in office, and none of his presumptive heirs have the charisma or skills to repair or sustain the coalition.

… Sanders has charm, but the Jewish socialist transplant from Brooklyn has spent his political life in a state that has only 7,500 blacks. He lacks the vocabulary to appeal beyond the white left. Meanwhile, the black left, an indispensable voting bloc, has no standard-bearer in the primaries and is clearly angry about it.

… Clinton’s most comfortable in the role of elitist technocrat, which is great for fundraising from Wall Street and wooing Beltway journalists, but it’s not so useful for wooing voters in a populist environment.

  7. Playing one great power against an other is normal and something thailand excelled at it. But i doubt the US govt is forcing people to listen to the items ricky lists.

Perversion? The US is postively puritanical in comparision to most countries.

Democracy? The current US govt is awash in corporate money. Its a plutocratic corporatist state badly disguised as a democracy.

Abortion? Okay the US has the second highest rate in the workd. But its behind Russia and i really dont trust Chinese stats. However, abortion rates are down worldwide and the US rate is at its lowest since 1973.

Feminism? With no maternity leave, the US is no shining beacon of feminism. It also has lower female participation in work and govt than most developed countries. And a higher pay gap.

Green cult? China has gone all in with green energy because of political considerations. Pollution was so bad it threaten the stability of the state. Meanwhile the US continues to drill, frack and blow up mountain tops.

So if the US isnt driving away allies based on the above why then are some nations spending more time with the BRICs? Like anything else, they are looking at a better finiancial offer. Not much different than the cold war days.

  8. Goldberg’s essay is similar to others ive seen in the NYT. They harp on the same theme — Sanders has a race problem. It seems to be the democratic party establishment’s message to scare people away from Sanders

  9. Perversion: Obama promotes perversion worldwide. Russia and India recently fought him on this issue at the UN. The leader of Kenya rebuffed Obama on this issue after being nagged by him.

Democracy: This is what the Thailand article is about, and we have made Iraq, Egypt, Lebanon and the West Bank worse by promoting democracy.

Feminism: We have been nagging traditional societies for years. This is one of the major reasons that the Saudis hate us.

Green cult: China and India are still burning massive amounts of coal. The number of autos in both countries is exploding. They may give lip service to get dollars from the U.S., but they know global warming is a hoax.

  10. Kim, Thanks for the song. Charlie Daniels is one of my favorite people to follow on Twitter. His tweets are as politically incorrect as his songs.

  11. Charlie Daniels performed at halftime at a Purdue football game while I was there. He did “The Devil Went Down to Georgia” . I remember that because in it, he called the Devil a SOB. All the kids loved it.
He didn’t say “SOB”. That’s what he called the Devil a Son of B” .

  12. Charlie Daniels & his band played a concert in my little Connecticut town not too long ago, at an event to raise money for something (a charity, I think, but I don’t remember). (No, we didn’t go.)

  13. HRW – The supposed 20-something cent pay gap is a myth. That figure does not take into account experience, years worked, types of jobs, etc. It pretty much just averaged all the working women & all the working men. Women tend to not work as many hours as men, & men tend to take the some of the tough jobs that happen to pay a lot.

When various other factors are figured in, the pay gap is only a few cents.
