  1. A good, sober analysis of the Confederate Flag Controversy

Alabamian and Civil Rights attorney Temple Trueblood took to Facebook Thursday to share her thoughts on how, and why, the media has targeted the Confederate battle flag in the wake of the Charleston shooting.

Her brilliant insight is already going viral, with thousands of shares from her personal Facebook page.

    Without further ado:

I’m a Southerner. I’m a civil rights lawyer. I’ve stayed out of this fray and, to be honest, I’m really tired of the whole media frenzy.

  2. Who are the real racists?

Despite their revisionist history, Democrats know they are. They were in the past, and they’re still running the modern day plantations of today as well.

  3. The situation in Greece shows what happens when the government promises more than it can deliver.
It has been going on in America for decades now.
They talk about “kicking the can down the road”.
It’s not a kicking the can problem. It’s a “not on my watch”. problem.
I need to develop that theory more.
But the problem, as I said, is not kicking the can.

Years ago, Roosevelt and LBJ, with collusion from some Republicans, promised that the government would take care of certain people. It was reasonable at first. Bu, naturally, it expanded. The result will be chaos, but it won’t happen on their watch.

Years ago, union bosses got promises from Industrial Boards of Directors to provide generous retirement benefits. Both sides knew that it was impossible to deliver, but it looked good for the unions and the directors avoided trouble, and the resulting distress wouldn’t happen on their watch.

More on that later. But the Greek politicians knew the distress wouldn’t happen on their watch. They are gone and the country is in turmoil.

  4. Interesting, saw this today on our upcoming news digest:

Los Angeles Urban Policy Roundtable will hold a news conference and deliver a petition to the Long Beach Unified School District. The group wants the district to rename Robert E. Lee
Elementary School, named after “the most infamous Confederate general … who
fought to uphold slavery and to strengthen treasonous secession.”

  5. My nephew, who is somewhat wise and does a lot of work with the world bank posted this in response to a cartoon about Greece on FB this morning. What do you think?

“This is all internal debt he’s talking about [the cartoon]. This isn’t what’s sinking them. It’s a few politicians and bankers that artificially inflated the value of their currency, borrowed against it, and then crashed the system. Sound familiar? It happened everywhere else in the world. Difference being the EU tried to float Greece long enough for the currency to catch up. Iceland’s solution could work here, and they’re no less socialist. The tax system needs to be overhauled for sure, but this article misses the point by a long mile. The banks tried to do what would essentially amount to a land grab and failed.

Here’s an interesting fact: Greece is #40 in gold ownership in the world. They produce luxury goods and have one of the largest shipping industries in the world, on top of being a major, major tourist location.

Long story short: The drachma will get paired to the euro, drop 40 to 50 percent pretty much overnight, and in ten years it will be as if nothing happened.

  6. One of my FB friends keeps posting (daily — his only posts) pics of Bush with this comment: George W. Bush is a war criminal and should be in prison.

People are so interesting. FB really gives you an insight …

… it isn’t enough that (Clarence) Thomas was in the Court’s minority, or that no college in America is bothering to listen to Young. They want Thomas and Young silenced, stripped of their status in their peer group, and to recant—even after being defeated in public on the issue at hand.

That’s terrifying, because it means that for a fair number of people in what’s supposed to be a democracy, “winning” in any normal political sense simply isn’t enough. They are not really trying to capture something as pedestrian as political equality, nor are they satisfied if they get it. …

… It is not enough for these Americans to say: “I have had my day in court and prevailed.” In effect, they now add: “You do not have the right to hold a different opinion, even if you lose in the public arena. You may not hold on to your belief as a minority view, or even as a private thought. And if you persist and still disagree, I will attack you without quarter and set others on you to deprive you of your status in your profession, of your standing in your community, and even of your livelihood.”

Even after losing, you will be forced to admit the error of your ways.

This attitude promises social warfare without end, because there is no peace to be had until the opposing side offers a sincere and unconditional surrender. …

Roark begins by writing: “Unreal, no country in the world would allow this.”

Adams responds: “Well, in ten years or less, they’ll all be voting … Commander’s intent …”

Roark concludes: “It is very clear that is the case. This fellow is the worst pres we have ever had. He truly is ‘the amateur’ but a Marxist, too.”
