Happy daughter here for the weekend before she starts working for good on Wednesday. She’ll be working the night shift in the most dangerous part of LA. If you’re awake a night, please give a prayer for the emergency workers who routinely work in tight spots for the good of others.
I may never sleep again–perhaps I’ve been in training for this new support role?
😦 Hearing how ignorant these children are to biblical things. Not all, of course, and this is one of the reason to have such programs. Also, I realized later all the things I could have done better.
🙂 Their is a Holy Spirit who loves to bring us to the Lord and bless us with more knowledge, fruit and growth in Christ.
🙂 Good music. Bluegrass festival today for us. Seeing old acquaintances is so fun. Rain is in the forecast and everything is wet, but we will enjoy anyway.
😦 My first Father’s Day without one. 🙂 I know he is in a far better place with no more pain.
🙂 Knowing God and His promises — trusting in Christ alone
😦 Losing a good friend but knowing that her next stop was in glory. Being able to say goodbye. Until we meet again. And, yeah, I suspect all her beloved cats will be there as well.
😦 Lost 2 photographers and a couple others at a sister paper in what looks like a new (hopefully mini) round of layoffs now that we’re approaching the end of the fiscal year. We keep saying we can’t find stability by cutting more people, but dang, if they don’t keep trying …
🙂 😦 This will be our first Sunday with 3 p.m. worship times in a new facility (while ours undergoes a summer-long remodel). Not keen on the time, but sleeping in with the heavens might be nice for a little while. And since it’s summer and staying light so late, I will still have a bit of time at the end of the day to scoot the dogs to the dog park for their regular late Sunday romp
😦 The violence in Charleston. Praying for a stronger bond among Christ’s people through this — the world’s divisions, whether political or in the symbol of a flag, should not cause separation or ill will among Christ’s people — who are not even citizens of this earth, after all.
Peace to those who lost family members — prayers that the shooter will repent and that no further violence will spin out of this incident. May we all be slow to speak and quick to hear
😦 Some commotion in the family, conflict of what we were going to do together today (conflicting with my husband’s responsibilities as an elder)
🙂 My parents in law understood, when the problem was explained to them, 😦 though others in the family chose not to.
🙂 Yesterday our daughter’s boyfriend spent more than 12 hours at our house . . . 🙂 about seven of them when our daughter was not here. I offered ice cream as an afternoon snack, and then supper, and then he still stayed and talked. At the end we prayed together and hugged. Gotta say this phase in life is a blessing I didn’t expect. A model of dating / courtship where the family is included right up front (rather than meeting the person once the couple has already determined to marry) is such a blessing for all concerned, young people included.
😦 We had so much rain early in the week that we still have large temporary “ponds” everywhere. Ducks swam in one in a field on our street as we left for church this morning.
🙂 Red admiral butterflies have taken over the neighborhood. Not quite as bad as all that, but I’ve never seen so many of a single species, and they’re a very pretty little insect.
😦 Trying to adjust to my first upside-down weekend with church at the end other than on Sunday morning (I still haven’t been). Went grocery shopping for the week’s lunches, etc., but now am sweaty after lugging everything in (including 2 large cases of water).
I feel ready for my regular Sunday nap-and-reading time about now.
😦 So much hate in this world.
🙂 God’s love.

🙂 My silly side got a hold of me while reading a comment thread on the local “bulletin board” Facebook page.
Man #1 makes a snarky comment addressing Man #2, regarding how Man #2 has handled something in town. Man # 1 ends this comment with “Fool.”
Man # 2 replies, “Thanks. Good to see that you know how the process works. Fool.”
I couldn’t resist. I commented, “Why do fools fall in love?” And then I posted a video of the song. 🙂
