Prayer Requests 6-2-15

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 6

¹O Lord, rebuke me not in thine anger, neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure.

Have mercy upon me, O Lord; for I am weak: O Lord, heal me; for my bones are vexed.

My soul is also sore vexed: but thou, O Lord, how long?

Return, O Lord, deliver my soul: oh save me for thy mercies’ sake.

For in death there is no remembrance of thee: in the grave who shall give thee thanks?

I am weary with my groaning; all the night make I my bed to swim; I water my couch with my tears.

Mine eye is consumed because of grief; it waxeth old because of all mine enemies.

Depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity; for the Lord hath heard the voice of my weeping.

The Lord hath heard my supplication; the Lord will receive my prayer.

10 Let all mine enemies be ashamed and sore vexed: let them return and be ashamed suddenly.

  1. If you would, today I am asking for prayers for BG and her father. She is mad at both of us. She contacted me yesterday and asked me to please put some gas in her car. I met her at the gas station and filled it up. When I left I called G to tell him that I filled her car up and he wouldn’t have to worry about it. We discussed how she needs to manage her money better. I told him that she had headed south when we left the station. Home is north of the station. He got irritated because she is supposed to let him know when she will be home and what she is doing, so he sent her a text asking what time she got off work. She told him 8 pm. I bought her gas at 6:40pm. He called me back to make sure I had just seen her. Then asked her if she wanted to stick to that story. He caught her in a lie. I personally know that she has lied to him several times but he won’t believe me. I have warned him about where she is hanging out most of the time.
He called me back, devastated to know that she had flat out and out lied to him. I backed him up and told her she didn’t have a right to be mad at either of us. She didn’t tell me what she was doing and I innocently called her dad. She thinks he is crazy.
She needs prayer and so do we. I don’t know what punishment he issued to her, but he can be quite severe —that is until he caves.

  2. Kim, I’m guessing you knew it would be ME saying this, but she is never going to learn to manage her money better as long as you keep meeting her at the gas station to bail her out.

  3. After our meeting last night, I’ve been musing on that verse, “unless a seed falls into the ground to die . . .

Here it is, John 12:24: “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain.”

I love and admire the former director–she lives next door to my kids and her younger children spend a lot of time with the adorable grandchildren–but sometimes a ministry needs to let go of the extremely capable person they’ve depended on for a very long time. The board is focused on examining how they run the center and making changes–they took responsibility for not intervening when the director was overwhelmed. My prayer is this will be a positive for everyone involved–most especially the former director and her family.

Much grieving, though, among the volunteers.

  4. Michelle – What you wrote reminds me of two stories I’ve heard recently.

Our interim pastor told about how, at the church he pastored for several years, he was the pastor, the youth pastor, the clean-up person, the worship leader, etc. He loved what he did, & did it joyfully, but he now realizes he did too much. When God called him to leave that church, different people stepped up to fill those roles, making for a more healthy, involved church.

A visiting preacher mentioned about having been a youth pastor, & having a young couple who helped him greatly in his ministry. When they were led to leave for a different ministry elsewhere, he was greatly disappointed. But four of the youth stepped up to take on the tasks they had done.

May God do a great work in your PCC.

  5. I could do with your prayers. I was able to see a physician and get my prescription changed back; however, my asthma is not responding to those inhalers either. I suspect it is something to do with the huge pollen count. I am trying to see my doctor (I saw another doctor), but she is pretty well booked up. The receptionist is going to see if I can be squeezed in or not. Today has been my worst day, but I haven’t ventured far from my bedroom since Friday.

  6. Linda, you are correct and we are taking steps to help her become more responsible. She didn’t work last week because of being scheduled for oral surgery.

On a scarier note, she called me a little while ago and told me about someone calling her a few weeks ago to offer her a job at $15 an hour. She asked what the job was and they told her she would be a sales rep. She told them she didn’t have time to talk to them. They called back, they named a boy she attends school with as having referred her. She knows who he is but they aren’t friends. She told them they were strange and not to call her again. Something tweaked her to go online and check it out. She found a few links that it is one of the ways human traffickers are getting to young girls. I told her to block the numbers from her phone. I also explained that this is why her father and I have to know where she is supposed to be. Like getting off of work at 6 and telling your dad you don’t get off until 8. That would have given someone a two hour head start with getting her out of our state and we would have told the police to start searching in the town where she works that than our town.
She has scared herself. Good. A healthy dose of fear never hurt anyone.

  7. Husband has an appointment with the general surgeon on Thursday regarding a cholecystectomy (hopefully laparoscopic). Praying that this surgery will solve his stomach issues. He has also been referred to a neurologist (no appointment yet) regarding his randomly and suddenly dropping blood pressure and passing out. Please pray that the docs have wisdom. Thanks.
