  1. 😥
My sunglasses are about to break.
Not those. My REAL sunglasses. The ones I bought in Arabia.
I’ve had those sunglasses longer than I had Elvera, longer than I’ve had Chuck.
I paid $4.50 for those sunglasses in 1952 and they’re good AF sunglasses.
They have wire frames, and the wire on the left side is about to break.
    It can’t be fixed.
I know it’s trivial to you, but I thought I would always have those sunglasses.
    😥

  2. I’m guessing sunglasses and other things also were made to last longer back in the day?

Appliances (at least when I was growing up) lasted, well, forever, pretty much. i still have a 25-year-old-plus washer and dryer set that’s hanging in there. But I doubt the newer ones would last that long? Cars, however, seem to last longer now. My last one, a 1994 VW Jetta that I bought new & sold 12 years later, made to a little over 200,000 miles.

  3. My daughter’s Chevrolet Malibu just topped 300,000. Lots of things wrong with it at this point, however. A good work car yet.

🙂 We had a wonderful few days on the north shore of Lake Superior. We stayed at the same place as our daughter and her family, who came up from Tennessee. This is always a beautiful place. The rivers were amazing, as they always are in the spring and the weather was ok for all the hiking we did. We enjoyed all so much.

🙂 The other two sister’s and families came for the weekend at our home. It was crowded, noisy and wild, but so much fun. The cousins have so much fun together.

🙂 They all came to see my husband play music with his group. They played outside and had outstanding weather for both nights.

😦 Sale fell through on my folks’ home. Ain’t nobody happy about that situation. The moral of the story: don’t let anyone in before the final closing. Not that I did. 😦

😦 Friend’s daughter has a mass in her abdomen. Will have more tests on Monday. These folks have already lost three children. They have learned Christ really is the rock, but this is a lot of stress and heartache for them. Kim also has children and grandchildren, who she babysits often.

  4. 🙂 The only rants I can think of (except for what my husband is going through) this week would be petty ones, so I won’t bother. 🙂

🙂 Had a pretty good week. Chrissy was in an extra good mood today, & we enjoyed our time together while Forrest was with his dad for the day. (Maybe Chrissy was in such a good mood because Forrest was with his dad, & we didn’t have to babysit. 🙂 )

  5. The twenty three year old Ford Ranger just went over 200,000. The current main user had hoped to watch it but another one was borrowing his car. He took pictures of it though. Kind.

  6. 🙂 Got Carol’s phone renewed for another month

😦 Her roommate has “the” TV for the room — and it’s hooked up for cable, which is great — but … Somehow they can’t change the channels & it’s stuck full time on an endless loop of infomercials (which the roommate plays at full volume as she’s very hard of hearing) — should be an easy fix, but up to the roommate to do it, I guess

🙂 Made good time with the express lanes today (finally bought the needed transponder a few weeks ago to let me use the Fastrack toll lanes). Although getting through downtown L.A. to get to the Hollywood transition is always jammed and bumper to bumper, even on Saturdays (and the express lanes don’t go through there)

🙂 Our beaches are open again after being closed for 3 days due to mystery oil globs washing ashore.

    🙂 God is good

  7. Carol says she’s found a former community room that’s now mostly unused, so she takes refuge either in there or the patio to read for most of the day.

🙂 Our former neighborhood dog/cat sitter is in town on a job for a former client, good to see her at the dog park today. She lives in the mountains with her mom but still comes down here for jobs on occasion.

🙂 Strangely, there was a drone hovering over the port and the dog park today. It sat up there for the longest time looking down on the dog park. Spies! Maybe it’s run by some cats.

😦 Neighbors lost their 14-year-old long-haired orange cat Dewey this past week (renal failure that had a pretty sudden onset). Very sad, she found him as a kitten in a dumpster outside a fast food joint and brought him home, he was the cutest little guy and always such a great cat. They were very attached to him so it’s been hard.

  8. 🙂 Work day at Camp Kadesh was a huge success – so much work was accomplished. One small group from one of our supporting churches has a lot of trades people and they came and worked their trades for the day. Lots of electrical, carpentry, etc was done. I stained picnic tables all morning.

😦 Arm/shoulder are quite sore today from staining but it’s worth it.

🙂 We’ve had over 500 students from various schools come through camp already this spring for their year end trip. We offer an outdoor recreation program and the teachers love it. Our staff get to share their “life story” (basically their testimony) at campfire and then they stay in the cabins with the students. We’re not “allowed” to bring up Christ and what He’s done for us (except in the life story sharing), but if the students ask… 🙂 We also off free Bibles at their last lunch and information on our summer camps.

🙂 As a result of the outdoor rec program, our summer Bible camps are approximately 80% non-churched children! Many of our staff are from non-Christian families who came to Kadesh as kids and are now leaders! I love hearing their stories. 🙂

🙂 Watched my daughter play tackle football yesterday! 😦 They lost, but it was such a fun time and we took her out for supper afterwards! 🙂 We didn’t get home until 1:30am 😦

🙂 Still made it to church today – amazing worship time and the message was great as well.

  9. 🙂 Making progress on streamlining our household goods — getting rid of what we don’t need, and finding a great deal of enjoyment in the things we do keep.

😦 Paper mess. Horrendous and daunting quantity of stuff to go through in that category.

🙂 New piano student to start this summer.

😦 Tick bites, two days in a row.

🙂 No symptoms of Lyme’s yet, four days out. All of our Lyme’s cases (since having become familiar with the disease, anyway) have developed unmistakable symptoms by around the fourth/fifth day.

🙂 Thankful for the Lord’s ever-present and watchful eye on us all, in everything we do and experience.

  10. 🙂 I just remembered that today is the 3rd anniversary of the day I joined the conversation at WMB. Exactly three months before the last day of the blog, though of course none of us knew that at the time.

I am indebted to you, AJ, that you started Wandering Views before the curtain closed on WMB. It’s been a great three years associating with all of you who came along over here. Life-changing in a very good way.

    God bless.

  11. Donna – Can she get ear plugs or an MP3 player or something like that to block out most of the TV noise?

When Chrissy is spending the night, & wants to watch something on TV in the evening, I plug my ear buds into my laptop, & listen to music.

  12. I don’t think the tv is on all the time, but I’ll ask about earphones, i think she does have them.

She’s still just very agitated by the “lockdown” policy. I’m hoping the legal aide people call soon. Her legs were bothering her so she wouldn’t have been able to go out to church anyway, but she also overheard someone at breakfast today saying they weren’t happy about not being able to go out to church due to the policy.
