Good Morning!
Bosley wants to know why you’re upside down? 🙂

What is that cat doing?
I woke up this morning with Hank Thompson singing in my head, “My tears have washed ‘I love you’ from the Blackboard of My Heart”. I tried to turn it off, but couldn’t. Still there, in fact.
😦
Hank Thompson is the one who recorded “Wild Side of Life”. That is only important in that it inspired an unknown singer named Kitty Wells to record “It wasn’t God who Made Honkeytonk Angels”. Almost every woman in America bought a copy of that and made Kitty Wells the “Queen of Country Music”. If you aren’t familiar with them, Both songs had the tune of “I’m Thinking tonight of my Blue Eyes” or “Great Speckled Bird”.

We went to see Hank Thompson when he was at Wolf Trap. I thought I was going to lose Elvera to him. I’m glad he stayed on the stage because she might have run off with him.

Chas, when I first leaped into really listening to old country music one of the things I noticed was that the tunes to a lot of songs were the same. Now they would sue over copy right infringement, but back then it was quite common. Almost a compliment.
I love the Crowder song that AJ posted. It was one of the things I brought back from my women’s retreat in March.
I am facing the day with about 3 hours of sleep. My brain just would not shut off last night

Good morning! I am still recouperating from my bout with a stomach illness. I asked husband to go to Publix and get me a six pack of canned Sprite when the store opened at seven. He was back around 7:07 and handed me a little bottle of Sprite and said he got two six packs. I hope I won’t need all of those! When I started opening the little bottle, it spewed all over me. I was laughing about the unexpected refreshment, and since I need a bath anyways…the rest of the Sprite tastes good 🙂
Miss Bosley kept me company in the bathroom last night. I tried to shoo her away but despite all she was determined to camp out in there with me. Anything that is different from the boring routine is a fascination. I almost barfed, but tried not to since she would have been wanting to see what that was in the bowl.
The picture of her dressed up is when I wore a dress to the funeral this past week and she wanted to see what it was like to wear a dress. I mostly wear slacks so, again, she was fascinated by a dress.

Ginger Ale is good for a bad tummy too. Of course right now I am down to drinking V-8 vegetable cocktail, coffee, and LOTS of water.

OK. I am married to a man who watches every awards show type thing there is. Last night was the I Heart Radio awards show from Austin. While I like the tune and the voice I don’t like this song. It stirred some controversy a while back because people thought it was the “gaying” of country music. My objection has nothing to do with that. I just want to tell her that she needs to get over a man that doesn’t want her and respect herself more than pine away over him. Tell yourself that you wouldn’t want a man who didn’t want you. Hold your head high and walk away. I couldn’t make Mr. P understand that.

Kim, It’s hard to understand until you’re half through. I finally understand that she wanted to be like the girl that has him.

We get the Blue Angels practicing over the Gulf of Mexico. Amazing. You can’t see and hear those jets and not feel something.

We enjoyed our private flyover in the mountains above Grangeville, when son made his final flight in the F15. Hearing those planes suddenly roaring overhead was pretty spectacular.

Bosely upside down, hahahahaha!
Cats are really so funny.
Lots of oil clumps washing up on our local beaches, I had to go out there late yesterday — it’s always nice when you get to go to the beach for work. But virtually all of our beaches are closed this morning, several miles of coastline. Coast Guard and other agencies still can’t figure out the source — it’s unlikely it’s part of the Santa Barbara spill to the north, but they said anything’s possible at this point. They’re checking all the local tankers & pipelines. That was as of last night. A colleague is at another beach news conference this morning as I type this, so maybe they know more this morning.
I didn’t get home until 7:30 p.m. or so last night and then I stayed up way too late reading.

Coast Guard spokesman juggling all the print, TV & other media that had converged on the beach late yesterday said he’d just started his new position that day. He had to double check his work cell # when I asked him for it — the phone, of course, was new as well, just handed to him a few hours earlier.

Now I know why my hummingbird feeders are emptying so quickly, at least the low ones. Seems nine year old in glasses is drinking out of them. I guess he does not mind the little ants. Added protein.

Donna, is there a concern about fire on that oil?

We are having a sunshower….surely there must be a rainbow somewhere nearby 🙂 Squirrels drink from our hummingbird feeders the little pests! So far we have seen only one hummingbird drinking from the feeders…hope the rest of his family gets here soon!

Well, this is the season for baby birds. Unfortunately we don’t have our bird feeders up (just the hummingbird feeder) because of sick birds, but we got the baby killdeer, then three baby robins. And today I kept hearing a chirping outside the back door, and was trying to figure out whether it was a cardinal or a chipping sparrow. (Usually insistent “chipping” is one of those, and I’m not that good with bird calls, but it didn’t really sound like either.) A few minutes later, I walked outside for something else, and a fledgling flew from the bushes onto the back deck. I just got a glimpse of it, but saw it had a crest and determined “baby cardinal.” But half an hour later I saw another glimpse through the window, and could tell it didn’t have a cardinal face. Later still, a great crested flycatcher landed in the tree near the deck–that’s a bird I may or may not have seen before, since we have several birds about that size with some yellow on their belly, and I haven’t been able to make a positive identification with any of my glimpses. But apparently it was here to claim its baby (whether or not it succeeded, I don’t know), which let me identify the juvenile and snap a quick few photos of the adult (no great ones, but oh well–it’s a very pretty bird, so hopefully I’ll get another chance).

No concern about fire with the oil globs — they’ve slowed down and they think the beaches will re-open at 6 a.m. Friday. They still haven’t figured out where it came from.

Husband and I watched Wayward Pines. Rather creepy, IMO. I was on Twitter while it was on. I don’t think I would watch it by myself. The Mentalist is on now. I like it more than Wayward.
