  1. Take five minutes to watch this video interview – listen carefully to what he says, and how he says it.

Ask yourself, how many of the few surviving WWII veterans kept themselves and their uniform in such good condition for over 70 years, and can still proudly wear it?

Notice his superb delivery – no teleprompter, no script – just a 91-year-old fighter pilot representing the greatest generation at home and abroad, who won WWII.

He has some surprises, and a great take on the philosophy of life.

Enjoy! The Last Fighter Pilot of WWII

  2. Thanks, Tychicus. I enjoyed that. My dad’s brother served in the Navy and was killed during WWII, though not in combat. My dad is very interested in history, especially that of WWII, and I know he would love watching that video. He doesn’t have internet, but my brother, who lives next door to him, does, so I sent the link to him to share with Dad. Appreciate it.

  3. Chas – I saw a poster on Facebook that said it was something like 2000+ whites killed by cops, & 1000+ blacks killed by cops. But blacks make up a much smaller percentage of the population, so the 1000+ number is still higher number percentage-wise.

However, being a poster on Facebook, the numbers could be off.

  4. Tychicus, I watch the video. Thank you for sharing it. I am lucky in that I have personally heard the stories of several of these men. Bill was a field commissioned officer. commissioned by Eisenhower on a battlefield in France. He didn’t so much fight a war according to his stories as he “liberated” eggs and cognac. His brother was one of the first into the concentration camps. He told me of personally unscrewing one of the shower heads and there being no plumbing behind it. “Tiger” was an Air Force pilot who flew missions over Japan. He was asleep over the Pacific when the A-Bomb was dropped. George is my personal WWII hero. He quietly served in the Navy and is a Past National President of the Fleet Reserve. If he and in wife were younger they could teach the dancers on Dancing with the Stars a thing or two. Wes was in the Marines. He was a Pearl Survivor. He was also a flirtacious raconteur. In addition to those I named I had a lovely conversation with Mumsee’s WWII friend, and when I worked in a small store in town I worked in the shoe department. I had an elderly gentleman come in for shoes and in our conversation he told of needing special shoes. He took his socks off and showed me the scares and the deformed nails from the Japanese shoving bamboo shoots under he toenails as torture. It saddens me that we are losing these stories. I think sometime in the last few years there was a concentrated effort to record a lot of their stories. I truly doubt we could fight a war on that scale ever again. Everyone contributed to the war effort, even the Conscientious Objectors. We are too self centered these days. Food rationing? How dare you? I am a vegan. I am gluten free. I am Paleo. I only eat fish and drink almond milk.

  5. I would be interested to know the stats on who is shooting cops. It could explain why they are more wary of some people than others or it could prove that they are unfairly bias..
