Prayer Requests 4-28-15

Anyone have something they’d like to share?

Psalm 124

¹If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, now may Israel say;

If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, when men rose up against us:

Then they had swallowed us up quick, when their wrath was kindled against us:

Then the waters had overwhelmed us, the stream had gone over our soul:

Then the proud waters had gone over our soul.

Blessed be the Lord, who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth.

Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped.

Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.

  1. Two prayers from the 1928 Book of Common Prayer (Janice, I will post this until you give us one of yours)

    For Courts of Justice.

ALMIGHTY God, who sittest in the throne judging right; We humbly beseech thee to bless the courts of justice and the magistrates in all this land; and give unto them the spirit of wisdom and understanding, that they. may discern the truth and impartially administer the law in the fear of thee alone; through him who shall come to be our judge, thy Son, our Saviour, Jesus Christ. Amen.

    For Our Country.

ALMIGHTY God, who hast given us this good land for our heritage; We humbly beseech thee that we may always prove ourselves a people mindful of thy favour and glad to do thy will. Bless our land with honourable industry, sound learning, and pure manners. Save us from violence, discord, and confusion; from pride and arrogancy, and from every evil way. Defend our liberties, and fashion into one united people the multitudes brought hither out of many kindreds and tongues. Endue with the spirit of wisdom those to whom in thy Name we entrust the authority of government, that there may be justice and peace at home, and that, through obedience to thy law, we may show forth thy praise among the nations of the earth. In the time of prosperity, fill our hearts with thankfulness, and in the day of trouble, suffer not our trust in thee to fail; all which we ask through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

  2. ‘that there may be justice and peace at home, and that, through obedience to thy law,”
What happens when our laws violate God’s law?
    Has the line been crossed?

  3. Husband could use the touch of God today (as we all can everyday but this is case specific). Yesterday, the three older boys drove him down to Boise for a doc appt. He has been in big pain for over a week as opposed to moderate pain. So it was a difficult ride and he needs to come back today or tomorrow. Prayer for the easing of the pain and the lifting of his spirit. Prayer for wisdom for the doc. This is the knee doc, the knee does not hurt, rather than the RA doc. That appt is not until late next month. And it is the RA that hurts. Thanks.

  4. Praying, Mumsee. A very difficult trial.

Thank you for the prayers for 2nd Arrow. She had her wisdom teeth out yesterday. Surgery went well. She reports that it hurts a little more today than yesterday, now that the local anesthetic is worn off, but she reports the pain as “not terrible,” and she is in good spirits.

  5. The doctor office called this morning to say there was an emergency so the doc would not be in. I explained that husband was in a lot of RA pain so had gone down yesterday. They scheduled him to see the nurse practitioner at the same time. Ten hours of really uncomfortable car riding for no appointment would have been hard.

  6. I’ve been having a rough go the last few days. A lot of pain, anxiety, worry, lack of sleep, and fear of the unknown to come. I have a disability hearing tomorrow that I’ve been waiting years for. I could use some prayer please. I’m hoping things will get better after tomorrow because I’ll know one way or another what the future holds for us. Not knowing is eating at me. I know it’s all in God’s hands and I need to let it go, yet I seem powerless to make that happen. I just can’t concentrate on much else lately. Prayers would be most appreciated. Thanks.

  7. Husband called. They will stay in Boise another day. The knee doctor folk took one look at him and told him he needed to go see his RA doctor. His knee is great but they are not happy he has lost over forty pounds in the past three months. Neither was the RA doctor. But the fact that his jaw hurts too much to eat does not help. They decided to give him some pain meds. Finally. And decided he needs more xrays. They actually don’t really know what is wrong with him. Maybe the Canadian doc they were laughing about knew more than they realized. More to come, I am certain.

  8. Thank you, Kim, for posting that this morning. I was in on a conference prayer call this morning while the Supreme Court was in session. The line would be muted for awhile when the leaders prayed over specific things and after each leader prayed their part the lines would be unmuted and many people wete praying all over at the same time until the next leader came on the line. I imagine the same type prayer rally will be held on the National Day of Prayer.

  9. Heavenly Father,

The needs of the blog family continue to be steady with peaks on certain days like today. Please give AJ and Idaho Mike peaceful rest this evening. They each have their own form of struggling to deal with along with unknown outcomes for the future. Help them to fully release their burdens to Jesus and rest in Him. Also, I ask that You give strength to their loved ones who standby and want to help and be supportive. Bless each family with an extra dose of love and patience.
You are so good to watch out for them and I pray for You to lessen their pains.

I pray also for second arrow to have a quick healing from her dental procedure. May she recognize the full benefit of having less crowding of teeth and fewer chances for cavities. Thank You for good dentists and oral surgeons.

I pray for Baltimore to regain a peaceful atmosphere where people do not have to be in fear of what might happen next. Please don’t let this senseless violence continue to plague the city.

I lift up the people in Nepal who are in great need while suffering the losses of family members and friends. Please help relief to flow quickly through proper channels. Please protect any orphaned children from opportunists who might do them harm without caring adult family with them. Please comfort those who are in the depths of grief for their unexpected losses. May they see Christ helping them through Christian efforts to make things quickly better for them.

Lord, I ask that the hearts of the SCOTUS Justices be turned to know You and fear You. May they be bold to do what is right even as they feel threatened by activists who look for reasons to act with revenge. Please change the stone hearts to soften and open to receive seeds of God’s love to grow and make them into new creations. May marriage continue to be between one man and one woman. Please restore our land to follow Your biblical standards.

    I pray in Jesus’ name,
    Amen
