Prayer Requests 4-27-15

Anyone have something they’d like to share?

Psalm 123:1-2

¹Unto thee lift I up mine eyes, O thou that dwellest in the heavens.

Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress; so our eyes wait upon the Lord our God, until that he have mercy upon us.

  1. Please pray for my friend Lee as she begins her first day of teaching music and Spanish in Houston. Her school is 97% Hispanic. Hers is definitely a story of God opening doors and showing her where she should be.
She has a heart for missions and has been going to Nicaragua for years. She taught many years ago in Texas, and had most recently been teaching in a Catholic school here. She has struggled for 2 years and a friend kept telling her she should apply in Houston. For almost a year she would open up the website and look and close it. In March she submitted her resume, she was asked to come out to interview. Within a week she was hired. Not only did that open up for her but also another position this Summer helping to run a workshop for Catholic school music teachers. The director had asked her to participate, but she couldn’t afford to go. When she let him know she was moving to Houston, he has a paid position he offered her.
There is much more to the story, but she told Saturday it would take her hours to tell me the whole story and how God worked it out.

  2. Thanks so much for the prayers. They make all the difference in the world. Right now there is much in my life out of control and, for which, I have no idea what is the best course of action. On top of that, health issues are contributing to some real anxiety. It has given me much more empathy for those who are always plagued with this type of thing.

My SIL goes for a job interview this afternoon. Please pray for all to go well and that God will do what is best for this family. For those who remember, this is Designer Girl’s husband. He has substitute taught for a few years now after being laid off. He now has a Master’s in school counseling and this interview is for that. It has been a long haul for them and something more stable would be a real blessing.

  3. I’m taking Annie Oakley the cat in to the vet today — after watching her for several days, she just didn’t seem to be completely bouncing back and her appetite has been less than usual (though she is eating).

Then this morning I noticed a deep puncture wound on her butt, it apparently broke and is draining, so when I saw that the decision was made … We have a 2 p.m. appointment, I’ve got her locked indoors so she doesn’t vanish on me and I’ll have to take a ‘vacation’ day at work — which leaves our editor with only one reporter today. Honestly, we so need to build up our staff again. We never have replaced our education reporter who won the Pulitzer and quit months ago. So technically we have no one covering schools or the school districts anymore …

And today there’s a trucker strike in the port that needs to be covered.

Pray that the new owners will invest at least some money into this operation, it’s really no way to run a newspaper.

  4. Once a month at church we break up for corporate prayer during the adult SS hour — yesterday this was handed out, which I thought was a good starter as a guide to prayer:

    Pray that:

Our minds and hearts would be properly framed in prayer
We would see God as the source of all good things
Our trust in God to provide would increase
Our gratitude would be commensurate with the goodness of God
God would make the saints at our church a generous people

  5. My daughter has finally started applying for EMT jobs and is discouraged by all the nos.

She’s also finally–after a lengthy process in which a doctor relative had to intervene–has gotten on as a volunteer at the notorious county USC hospital. She’s working long shifts–needs 200 hours to get the recommendation she needs–in one of the worst hospitals in the country. Did I mention she’s in the ER?

Could we pray for some encouragement for her? Patience is not her strong suit, though compassion is. She’d just really like a job and to feel like she’s moving forward in her life.

    Thanks.

  6. She was still in ER but in a holding area … A guard wouldn’t let me go in until a certain time, so I had to wait 15-20 minutes or so, I was never sure if there were formal “visiting” hours or why the wait … Big hospital.

  7. Son took the cat to the vet this morning. Snowball got bit by the cat who came back. He appears to have gone again. Another hundred dollars spent on an animal of dubious worth. He does snuggle well with children though. Just wish he would stop snuggling with the mice and start massacring them.

  8. Michelle , is your daughter already licensed? There are openings in NM if she is a national registry paramedic. Taos is hiring, as is Ruidoso. Albuquerque is always hiring, but not the best place to work. If she is working on clinicals, hang in there and keep plugging along. Praying she will have strength and endurance
