Prayer Requests 3-31-15

Anyone have something they’d like to share?

Psalm 100

¹ Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands.

Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing.

Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.

For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.

  1. Psalm 100 one of the very first things I learned in kindergarten. My colors, numbers, letters and this psalm. Amazing that all these years later I barely had to read it.

  2. Strange thing about that Kim. When I read something like Ps 100, Ps. 23, I Cor 13, etc. in some other version, my mind automatically translates them into KJV.
I have often wondered if that happens when bi-lingual people hear another language.
i.e. A Mexican comes to the US, He speaks English but his mind translates back.
I don’t know. Maybe Peter has some insight.

  3. I have a request for my neighbor/friend Jimmy. He’s an ornery and stubborn old cuss, which is probably why we get along so well. 🙂

He has numerous health issues but has refused to see a doctor for decades. He’s been in pretty bad shape for a week or so, After years of prodding and offers to help from his brother and I, he has finally relented and gone to the e-ward this morning with his brother. I knew he was about ready because he broke down to me about it yesterday. He’s very scared, most of all, of dying. He’s convinced that he’s going to die from whatever is wrong. He’s unsaved, so we discussed that again briefly as well. And hopefully, will be able to again. I think it’s safe to say, he is gonna have a lot to deal with.

So if you would be so kind, please pray for him.

    Allen

  4. I also automatically translate verses in the the King James Version. I have two other Bibles I read for clarity (actually 3 other). I downloaded an NSV version to my Kindle that I take to Bible Study with me. I have finding that I like it because I can “click” to go to the cross referenced verse then his back to get to the section I was studying. Shhhh. Don’t tell anyone, but I can also increase the font size so that I don’t have to put on reading glasses in public.

  5. Same here with the KJV. And that’s the translation I carry to church and “follow along” with during the scripture readings, though our pastors don’t use that tranlation.

AJ, your friend Jimmy has my prayers. I wanted to ask you, too, how Elizabeth is doing. Cheryl mentioned on Friday’s prayer thread how very (understandably) upset your daughter was upon hearing the sad news of her grandmother’s passing. How is she (and all of you) coping at this time?

You continue to be in my prayers.

Wisdom on whether God has something specific for me to say or just to remain silent.

  7. Heavenly Father,

Thank You for Psalm 100 for it tells us how You like to be approached. You give us so many helps that we would not have without Your words in Scripture.

Lord, I continue to lift up AJ, Cheryl, and Elizabeth along with my other Brothers and Sisters in Christ here. Please comfort, give peace, and sweet memories, and rest. May they feel Your hand guiding them through this week.

I do lift up the neighbor, Jimmy, that AJ has been concerned about for a long while. He is suffering now and knows he has health issues. Please help him to recognize his need to be washed clean of the sins of his life by the blood of Jesus. Please remove his reluctance to hearing about and receiving Jesus as Lord and Savior. According to Your will, please bring his health back around to good. Help him to make amends with anything and anybody he has hurt in life so he can have a clear conscience. Thank You that since AJ’s mom died You have given an open door of approaching this man about Jesus and eternity. You want him to be saved as You do all people. May he know Your love that he never understood before.

Abba, You are so wise in matters concerning love. Please help Jo to know how to handle the news of her daughter’s engagement. If there are good reasons to wait and Jo feels she needs to express her wisdom, please make a good opportunity to do so. If silence on Jo’s part is more productive for Your desired outcome then I ask You would keep her from verbalizing any negative thoughts. I pray this is a match You designed in heaven. If not, I pray You will make a way to stop or delay the ceremony.
Please help all the young people who have stars in their eyes over the beauty of a wedding, but don’t fully recognize the commitments and difficulties of lifelong marriage.

Please help me to feel better today, Abba. I do feel down about the RFRA in Georgia. Please be with all those working diligently at the state capitol today. Also, please help my husband and others who have way too much to finish up by the 15th. Thank You for the relief that Wesley has a good summer job.

Well, Lord, my prayer was interrupted by Karen’s call and the news that she has to have a scan to check for possible tumor. You know all the suffering she has been through and now they have the three kittens and one is sick. Please, help them in all they are dealing with.

    in Jesus’ name, Amen
