I’ve read that, too, Karen — I would like to see more commentary (on both sides) about the Utah law(s). One article I read mentioned that religious “institutions” are protected under the law, but it didn’t say anything about how they would navigate conflicts between individuals and whether the religious freedom of those who aren’t “institutions” would be recognized.
These laws do seem to be pushing the issue but I suspect people of faith will be on the losing side when it’s all said and done.
I may be pessimistic, but watch for this to be pushed and pushed via legislation and court rulings until religious folk are pushed back into their houses of worship and/or homes and kept from exercising religious freedom (or “freedom to worship” as the other side prefers to more narrowly pigeonhole it) in their business or the public square or anywhere else, for the most part.
Interesting blog post I read the other day, too, on how many journalists are putting the term religious freedom or religious liberty in what’s called “scare quotes” — which is often a subconscious way to raise red flags around the merit or true intention of a particular idea being written about.
I read that article you shared the other day about why the angry left is so angry. I had already had those thoughts about YF in particular. She has an ideal (in her mind) view of how things are supposed to be, & anyone who doesn’t agree with the left’s methods to bring that view to fruition is obviously hard-hearted or greedy or whatnot.
And the fury they harbor and unleash against anyone with another view is stunning. 😦 It’s hard to know anymore how to even respond. I’m afraid I’ve been mostly silenced on especially gay issues (even some of my liberal Christian friends are strongly in favor of it, suggesting in FB posts that Christians of another view are heartless and bigoted).
I’m not looking forward to the next national election cycle — even if (and probably especially if) a conservative wins the presidency, it will be ugly. We are so divided as a nation I don’t really see a way back or out. But we shall see. One way or the other, things will look different 10 and 20 and 50 years from now …
What’s interesting, too, is it is liberals who are so adamantly against any hint of bullying — but that’s exactly what they do to anyone who disagrees with them with all the name calling and shaming and ridicule.
The political season is already ramping up, my liberal FB friends are in full fury 🙂 — so far the outrage is mostly limited to Cruz, but I fully expect foaming at the mouth to ensue over every conservative candidate or supporter who dares to open his or her mouth.
Interesting…

Donna – Exactly!
Here’s another article I found on Facebook. I haven’t read the whole thing, but thought some here may be interested…

Liberals have become so tiresome.
