Good Morning!
10 Days to go!

In 1877 Thomas Edison patented the phonograph.
In 1944 a single-engine plane carrying U.S. Army Major Glenn Miller disappeared in thick fog over the English Channel while en route to Paris. The true fate of the plane and its passengers has never been determined.

Quote of the Day
“Finding the real joy of Christmas comes not in the hurrying and the scurrying to get more done, nor is it found in the purchasing of gifts. We find real joy when we make the Savior the focus of the season.”

Good evening, Jo. Afternoon, Tychicus. Morning, everyone else. Much too early for me to be up, since my last post last night was after 1:00 a.m. Eastern. Oh well.
Off to start my day. Have a good one, all!

Hi 6 Arrows.,
I’ve been up and about for two hours already. But I’m drinking my first coffee.

You can tell little girls live at Linda’s house.
I still haven’t wrapped gifts. I intended to do it yesterday but it didn’t happen. I have lots to get done before Friday. Middle stepson will be here. My stomach is in knots because BG will be with me this weekend as well. There are only two beds set up in this house. MS will be here for 10 days, but I don’t want to “shove” BG out of what she thinks of as her room.
Mr. P has determined that we will probably be in this house 2 years instead of 1. He keeps asking about putting pictures and things on the walls. He wants to unpack more. Once again, I just don’t have it in me. My inclination is to just tell him to knock himself out. I don’t care. Very, very unlike me. I have always wanted my home to be my gilded nest, my safe haven, and I have wanted it nicely decorated. Not anymore.
Oh well, I am at work now. We are bringing in a whole ‘nother office tomorrow under our name. I have set up email addresses, ordered name tags, made temporary business cards, put together welcome packages, and a whole slew of other things. I picked up my new name tag last week as well. I had my name, my title, and associate broker put on it. Someone said something to me last week about “don’t you like your job? Why did you add associate broker?” This morning it hit me. My job title has changed twice since I have been here and my duties have changed more than that. Associate Broker belongs to me. As long as I keep up my CE’s and pay my fees no one can take it away from me.
Too many deep thoughts for this early on a Monday morning the week before Christmas. Off to get started.

Kim, I guess I would speak to BG and encourage her to allow the use of ‘her’ room to someone who will be staying longer. Perhaps if she is the one who is being generous, it will go over better.

Everything was frosted over this morning when I went outside. Very pretty for this season.
I was a lady at the Inn With No Room in our Drive Through Living Nativity last night. 26 years it has been dramatized.

I checked on my CBD order. It is taking the scenic route. Left Mass on the the fifth, crossed the country including Pocatello, ID to get to Portland, Oregon. There it traveled around a bit and headed up to WA before running back down to Portland. I hope it finishes its travels soon.

Good Morning….we ended up with 3 and a half inches of wet snow…it is so pretty…but our roads are icy and slick this AM….the plow has been through twice and the people living in town are having trouble believing we have snow….they got nothin’!!
I love the princess’s lined up around the train tracks….does that not just bring a smile to your face?! 🙂

Kim, that’s a tricky situation. Personally I think I’d like to see the stepson let the lady have her room while she is home, but have her make sure it is tidy enough that he can use it the days she is not there.
LikeLiked by 1 person
And I would prefer the stepson have the room. He is the adult. They are trying to integrate him back into the family. Daughter has a nice room in dad’s house, where she chose to live. It is not her room, it is the guest room. It won’t hurt her to put herself out for somebody else. But, everybody has to figure out which way he wants to go, not up to me. I generally tell them first come first served if the length of stay is about the same, or the longest staying guest gets the more permanent assignment. But I also generally leave it up to them to decide.

Kim, play Solomon and say you will split the room in half and see who gives, or flip a coin or draw straws, or offer a financial I also reward to the one who does not take the room.

Hahaha. And I have NO opinion on who should get the room. 🙂
I also loved the train-riding princesses, that made me laugh. Sweet.
Well, today I go with a friend to visit Art, the mutual reporter friend with Parkinson’s, in the rehab. That won’t be until this afternoon, though.
I think I may also go blender shopping for Norma, will probably check out Bed Bath & Beyond since I have collected a slew of coupons for that store.
And my friend Carol wants a regular Kindle that she can read outside (she already has the fancier “fire” version, but those are backlit and more for indoor reading). I see where Best Buy has them on sale for $59 this week which isn’t too bad (they’re normally $79).
Mumsee, for a moment I thought you’d gone & converted, talking about Mass and all. Hope the shipment arrives — I will say that’s the one thing about Amazon, 2 days and it’s on your door step.

Friend and I also talked about hitting Knott’s Berry Farm sometime this week, mostly just for the outside-the-park victorian Christmas craft fair they put on every year. I haven’t been to that in ages. I’d prefer to go in during the early evening hours, but she’s not much of a night person anymore, so it may be a daytime jaunt.
Tomorrow night I “work,” covering the Zamperini hometown pre-release screeing of Unbroken. I’ll have to write the story after the movie ends at 10-10:30 or so, making it kind of a long night. Oh well. Wednesday morning it’ll be back to ‘vacation.’

Love the picture.
Here in northern Minnesota we are without snow. Just puddles of water. I am missing the snow. That is much better than the rain and fog. Also, snow is far better than ice. I do hear there will be sleet tonight and the ice will not be fun for traveling. Husband is supposed to play at a Senior Center, which is forty miles away or so. I will be home, since I am still not feeling the best and don’t need to spread it.

DSW rocks! Order placed, and with free shipping to boot (actually clog). Thanks, y’all for the timely suggestion.

Mumsee, you’re right about it being not her room but the guest room. I was thinking of it as her room. (As kids we had to give up our room for company lots of times, and I have no problem with kids doing so. At the same time, for modesty purposes I would personally be more comfortable with a teenage girl sleeping behind closed doors when an unrelated male is in the house. It’s easier for guys to stay modest at night than for gals, unless the girl instinctively stays under the covers at all times.)

I would like to add that so can a new lipstick.

Donna, stay strong, sister. The shoes in your closet don’t want to feel like they’re no longer loved. They need you to say, “YOU are enough.”

Of course there are shoes in the package on my porch — it’s a shoe box!
But why is there a Bible in the shoe box, also?
I know — I’ll send the box to Donna, and she can walk to Mumsee’s in her new shoes and deliver the Bible herself when she gets there.
Dilemma solved.
I hope those shoes are mighty comfortable. SoCal to Idaho can be a bit of a hike.

Seems to me it was about this time last year that I got coerced by thugs, oops, I mean, convinced by nice nice people on a certain website, into buying a pair of dress shoes.
Still love love love those shoes. 😉

Throwing away the shoes that I wear everyday today. Then I asked my aide and showed her the 4 inch slit where the top detached from the sole and asked if anyone could use them and she said to bring them to her.
So… I do need shoes probably even before I get home as I will be arriving in sandals. But, no designer shoes for me. Strong and sturdy, able to deal with mud and rocks! Though most of the folks here either go barefoot or wear flip flops.

DSW has something for everyone, Jo. They had pages and pages of deeply discounted shoes of every type.
I figure black clogs will work with most of my clothes and they will look nice with the bag my brother gave me. And they will be better than th nice anne kien loafers i got at goodwill that fit perfectly, look great, and have a distinctive squeak, squeak when I walk down the tile floors at church.

I wish I could just order shoes online and have them come right to me. My plantar fasciitis makes it really hard for me to find just the right footwear, so I end up trying on many pairs before I actually buy.
Maybe that’s a good thing, so I don’t buy up all DSW’s inventory in one fell swoop of internet shopping. 😉

The shoe discussion got everyone going, I see.
I’ve been out visiting my friend with Parkinson’s — very sad situation — then having lunch out with the friend who came with me. Weird day, though seems like a lot of sad news, first with our friend who’s “stuck” in this place and then hearing another friend’s dog died recently and that another friend from the dog park years ago isn’t doing well health-wise. Sigh.
I’d still like to get to Best Buy & BB&Beyond for the Xmas gifts I need, but now I’m debating as it’ll be rush hour shortly and the streets already are crowded with what I’m guessing is holiday shopping traffic.

I started and finished my Christmas shopping today. Bought two gifts, for my two piano students. Family and extended-family gifts are generally purchased by 1st and 2nd Arrows, or at least they have been for the past few years since they’ve been employed.
Nice to have the adult offspring step up and do that. We never asked them to.

I struck out in my blender search at BB&B — I keep forgetting how hard it is to find white anything for the kitchen (Norma’s appliances are white). All they had were blenders in stainless & black.
That’s when ordering online pays off, you can pretty much get what you want in the exact color you want.
And Cheryl will be happy to know that I drove right by the DSW without stopping.
But the week is still young.

This leaving is quite complicated. Bless the friends who are having me over for dinner tonight.
