Prayer Requests 12-4-14

Today’s Thursday, so don’t forget to pray for the folks in PNG.

And for Jo as she prepares to come home for the holidays. 🙂

Psalm 148

¹Praise ye the Lord. Praise ye the Lord from the heavens: praise him in the heights.

Praise ye him, all his angels: praise ye him, all his hosts.

Praise ye him, sun and moon: praise him, all ye stars of light.

Praise him, ye heavens of heavens, and ye waters that be above the heavens.

Let them praise the name of the Lord: for he commanded, and they were created.

He hath also stablished them for ever and ever: he hath made a decree which shall not pass.

Praise the Lord from the earth, ye dragons, and all deeps:

Fire, and hail; snow, and vapours; stormy wind fulfilling his word:

Mountains, and all hills; fruitful trees, and all cedars:

10 Beasts, and all cattle; creeping things, and flying fowl:

11 Kings of the earth, and all people; princes, and all judges of the earth:

12 Both young men, and maidens; old men, and children:

13 Let them praise the name of the Lord: for his name alone is excellent; his glory is above the earth and heaven.

14 He also exalteth the horn of his people, the praise of all his saints; even of the children of Israel, a people near unto him. Praise ye the Lord.

  1. Good morning, Cheryl & Aj.
I’m still drinking coffee, but will post prayer requests later… I pray a lot early in the morning (figure I might as well do something productive as I sit like a sloth for the first hour after I awaken).

  2. Still waiting for someone to teach my class. Would appreciate a chance to show someone around the room and talk about the routine before I leave. Also please pray as I clear my classroom and home for others. Much to do. This moving across continents…..

  3. I’ll be praying, Jo.

I’m feeling rather anxious this morning. Yesterday, after much prayer and contemplation, I phoned my Mom’s orthopedist and spoke to his nurse. I told her about my Mom’s 40 year alcohol abuse and asked her to keep my call confidential. Based on her symptoms, we (my BIL who is a surgeon and myself) fear she is suffering from Alcoholic Polyneuropathy. I felt it was imperative the doctor know the truth in order to treat her effectively. The nurse was extremely kind and promised she’d tell the doctor personally and thanked me for the call. Even so, I was shaking as I hung up the phone, as it felt disloyal to reveal the family secret to an outsider. I’m praying they don’t reveal I called…if they do, I’ll probably be written out of the will…

  4. Praying for peace for you, Ann. I would think the doctor has run into this type of thing many times. I would think they can do some probing without revealing you called. Hopefully, they may even get her to reveal at least a bit of the truth so it can be dealt with as far as her current medical problems. That issue is rampant among the older generation.

  5. There is a “recovery” saying : The truth shall set you free. Keeping family secrets brings shame. You have nothing to be ashamed of.

I don’t know if I told you or not about our receptionist here at work. I said something about my dad working at Scott Paper. She started asking questions and it turned out that her grandfather and my dad worked together. She had called her grandmother to ask about it. Right in front of someone else she said, “Yeah my grandfather worked with you dad, she said he was a good guy but that first wife of his was bat &^%$ crazy”. I haven’t had to deal with my mother in over 25 years. What could I say? I was embarrassed and ashamed, but then I laughed and said, “Yep, she sure was.”
I went home and sent a message to my 2 best friends who lived through it with me. G responded “That’s hilarious!”. Once he said that I was able to laugh.

PS. People know our family secrets no matter how hard we try to keep them.

  6. Ann, you did the right thing — and the doctor, assuming he’s examined your mom, probably picked up on it anyway. But good you called with the concern about the specific condition you and your brother suspect. Praying.

  7. Good job, Anne, tough to do but important.

Husband’s results are in and they say he has both rheumatoid and osteo arthritis and both knees are blown so he will be having knee replacements .

  8. Update on Dakotah, in snippets from an aunt’s Facebook update:

“Dakotah Update… Still in very critical condition, still in ICU still on a ventilator but, the machine is only providing 40% of her oxygen for her. [They later needed to increase the oxygen she was getting.] …The Dr’s are hoping that she might be ready to come off the vent by Saturday if she continues to improve. …Still having problems with her CO2 levels meaning her body is unable to remove all of the CO2 from her lungs. …

“Starting today [yesterday] they will be giving some methadone mixed with her morphine and other sedative meds …They will gradually take her off all morphine and replace it with methadone and another withdrawal medications to keep her from having to go through withdrawal symptoms. Her body would not be able to handle that.

“She still has a long way to go….We have great faith and hope in God above that he is answering all of the prayers and good thoughts he has received from all of you. So thank you all of you that have been praying and keeping Dakotah in your thoughts and prayers please know that God is hearing and answering… Thank you Lord for hearing our prayers! You are an Awesome! God! Amen.”
