Prayer Requests 11-19-14

It’s Wednesday, so don’t forget to pray for the Gambia.

Anyone else have something they’d like to share?

Psalm 135

¹Praise ye the Lord. Praise ye the name of the Lord; praise him, O ye servants of the Lord.

Ye that stand in the house of the Lord, in the courts of the house of our God.

Praise the Lord; for the Lord is good: sing praises unto his name; for it is pleasant.

For the Lord hath chosen Jacob unto himself, and Israel for his peculiar treasure.

For I know that the Lord is great, and that our Lord is above all gods.

Whatsoever the Lord pleased, that did he in heaven, and in earth, in the seas, and all deep places.

He causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth; he maketh lightnings for the rain; he bringeth the wind out of his treasuries.

Who smote the firstborn of Egypt, both of man and beast.

Who sent tokens and wonders into the midst of thee, O Egypt, upon Pharaoh, and upon all his servants.

10 Who smote great nations, and slew mighty kings;

11 Sihon king of the Amorites, and Og king of Bashan, and all the kingdoms of Canaan:

12 And gave their land for an heritage, an heritage unto Israel his people.

13 Thy name, O Lord, endureth for ever; and thy memorial, O Lord, throughout all generations.

14 For the Lord will judge his people, and he will repent himself concerning his servants.

15 The idols of the heathen are silver and gold, the work of men’s hands.

16 They have mouths, but they speak not; eyes have they, but they see not;

17 They have ears, but they hear not; neither is there any breath in their mouths.

18 They that make them are like unto them: so is every one that trusteth in them.

19 Bless the Lord, O house of Israel: bless the Lord, O house of Aaron:

20 Bless the Lord, O house of Levi: ye that fear the Lord, bless the Lord.

21 Blessed be the Lord out of Zion, which dwelleth at Jerusalem. Praise ye the Lord.

  1. Pray for a journalism friend, Art, who a year ago landed in a convalescent home (an arrangement that now appears permanent) after a fast onset of Parkinson’s (he’s probably in his mid to late 70s now?).

    I had a call from him yesterday and was convicted that I hadn’t been to see him or called in months. With the holidays coming it’s got to be so depressing (and he also battled clinical depression anyway throughout his life). His brother-in-law and sister (no other family, his wife died at a young age and a girlfriend died maybe 10 years ago) are a county away but do take him to his appointments, etc., but there seems to be unhappiness on his part with the way they’re handling things. And the place he’s in just isn’t a very nice one. 😦

    He is such a talented writer and painter — but of course can do neither of those things anymore.

    And from all I can discern, he is not a believer (though raised in a conservative Baptist home I think).

    So prayers for how I can minister to him — and for my own willingness to make the time to do so.

  2. Crisis on top of crisis. Mama’s dementia took a turn for the worse while brother one was on vacation. After 30 hours of no sleep dealing with her, brother two and his wife, who were suppose to take over for a night or two have a family crisis and I may have to go back. Then I get the kids report card. three F’s and 2 D’s. Because of Mama I haven’t been keeping up with his whether or not he is doing his homework and studying. The school also seems to be looking for a reason to expel him. He was suspended for breaking his own pencil. And of course Hubby is back on the road Friday.

  3. Praying ladies.

    I’d like to add my father to the list please. He’s in the hospital with some type of infection and will be for a few more days. He’s had a high fever and is getting fluids. They want to run more tests because of other health problems that are being aggravated by it. There’s even talk of a sleep study, which he’ll just love. 😦
