Prayer Requests 10-17-14

It’s Friday, so please remember to pray for Mumsee, Mike, and the young folks at the Nest.

Anyone else have something to share?

Psalm 108

¹O God, my heart is fixed; I will sing and give praise, even with my glory.

Awake, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake early.

I will praise thee, O Lord, among the people: and I will sing praises unto thee among the nations.

For thy mercy is great above the heavens: and thy truth reacheth unto the clouds.

Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: and thy glory above all the earth;

That thy beloved may be delivered: save with thy right hand, and answer me.

God hath spoken in his holiness; I will rejoice, I will divide Shechem, and mete out the valley of Succoth.

Gilead is mine; Manasseh is mine; Ephraim also is the strength of mine head; Judah is my lawgiver;

Moab is my washpot; over Edom will I cast out my shoe; over Philistia will I triumph.

10 Who will bring me into the strong city? who will lead me into Edom?

11 Wilt not thou, O God, who hast cast us off? and wilt not thou, O God, go forth with our hosts?

12 Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man.

13 Through God we shall do valiantly: for he it is that shall tread down our enemies.

  1. Continued prayer for the pilot, Jon, please. The news today was that they had to amputate his right leg above the knee. He was aware and signed the consent. His three little boys were at the Sports Day today, enjoying playing with friends. They will join their parents soon. Pray for healing and for a new vision for what God would have them to do in the future.

  2. Prayers requested for 4th Arrow. She’s going on a church-sponsored retreat this weekend, leaving a couple hours from now and returning Sunday. Prayers for safety on the road (it’s in a different area of our state) and at the retreat itself, and for the children’s spiritual growth (they are 7th and 8th grade age). Thank you.

  3. A LOT of stress here — only with me. I would have felt better if my daughter had not gone to that retreat, for reasons I won’t go into but maybe some of you might guess. Her dad had a few reservations, too, for different reasons, but ultimately thought there would be more benefits than risks if she attended, so she went.

    There is another stressor, too, not about the retreat, not about family, that is really getting to me tonight, but which would not be a good idea to speak of when…

    well, never mind

  4. 6 Arrows, I’ve never mentioned it on here, but it seemed relevant here. I was so young when it happened that I don’t remember him any other way than on crutches. He wore a prosthesis for his wedding, but for him they tended to damage his leg and he wasn’t willing to lose his knee, so he has used crutches for 40 years. Just now he has been fitted for one of the newer-model prostheses, so he told me he can go on walks or go to church with two legs. His wife has literally never gone to church with him walking, and she said she’s surprised how tall he is. (He’s 6’4″ but looks shorter on crutches.) He can’t wear the prosthesis to drive or for some other things, but he can wear it some, and he’s glad for that.
