Today is Thursday, so don’t forget to pray for Jo and the folks in PNG.
Would anyone else like to share something?
Psalm 65
¹Praise waiteth for thee, O God, in Sion: and unto thee shall the vow be performed.
2 O thou that hearest prayer, unto thee shall all flesh come.
3 Iniquities prevail against me: as for our transgressions, thou shalt purge them away.
4 Blessed is the man whom thou choosest, and causest to approach unto thee, that he may dwell in thy courts: we shall be satisfied with the goodness of thy house, even of thy holy temple.
5 By terrible things in righteousness wilt thou answer us, O God of our salvation; who art the confidence of all the ends of the earth, and of them that are afar off upon the sea:
6 Which by his strength setteth fast the mountains; being girded with power:
7 Which stilleth the noise of the seas, the noise of their waves, and the tumult of the people.
8 They also that dwell in the uttermost parts are afraid at thy tokens: thou makest the outgoings of the morning and evening to rejoice.
9 Thou visitest the earth, and waterest it: thou greatly enrichest it with the river of God, which is full of water: thou preparest them corn, when thou hast so provided for it.
10 Thou waterest the ridges thereof abundantly: thou settlest the furrows thereof: thou makest it soft with showers: thou blessest the springing thereof.
11 Thou crownest the year with thy goodness; and thy paths drop fatness.
12 They drop upon the pastures of the wilderness: and the little hills rejoice on every side.
13 The pastures are clothed with flocks; the valleys also are covered over with corn; they shout for joy, they also sing.
Praying, Kim. I know those kind of days all too well.
Today, though, has been wonderful so far, and I am here with a HUGE praise to God for an amazing breakthrough with our spectrum child, 5th Arrow (10-year-old son).
Our son, who not only has been very rigid in his thinking, having complete meltdowns when something out of the routine happens, but who also has experienced many phobias, screaming in terror at things that don’t ordinarily provoke fear for most people, was exposed to not one, but TWO of his triggers today within literally minutes of each other.
And. neither. event. phased. him!!!
We were driving to the town where we buy our milk once a week, and as we just got into town, the radio station I was listening to broadcast one of the station identifications they use. 5th Arrow has heard several of their IDs, but it is only one of them that has triggered screaming fits. We have never been able to figure out why, as he has not been able to articulate why it causes him such anxiety. (And if he hears it at home, he runs out of the room screaming.) This went on for years, but I don’t listen to that station as much anymore, so he had not heard that ID in at least a year, maybe two or more.
But he heard it today, and his reaction was…nothing. He was totally quiet, and after about half a minute had elapsed since the ID had ended, I glanced at him in the back seat, and he was sitting there perfectly still, minding his own business, with no look of fear on his face whatsoever.
Then we arrived at the store where we buy our milk. It is a little shop with natural-food and other specialty items owned by a single woman who has been in business for many years now. However, she had apparently gotten sick today after she came to work, as the lights were all on, the signs in the front and back windows indicated she was open, but the doors were locked and she’d left notes on the entrance doors, apologizing that she wasn’t feeling well, and would try to open back up as soon as she could.
If something like that would have happened in the not-too-distant past, 5th Arrow would have had extreme difficulty coping with the fact that we came with our empty milk bottles, found the store closed, and had to go back home with the empties instead of new full jugs. Especially if an unforeseen event like that had followed the ID trigger.
My husband and I are in awe of what the Lord has done in this young man’s life, and am so thankful for how far He’s brought our son.
Oh, and BTW, we stopped at a different store in town after that, and when the automatic door opened and we went inside, 5th Arrow announced, “Yep, they’re open!” 😉
Our vet tech daughter, 2nd Arrow, who was guaranteed at least 26 hours per week in her tech job, with the possibility of moving to full time in about one year, just received the happy news this week that she has been promoted to full-time status effective immediately! Truly amazing in this economy. God is always good.
Wonderful, 6 Arrows! My own firstborn has a temporary job for another month or so, but needs a full-time job. And she is very smart (summa cum laude) but doesn’t always handle “pressure” well.
I could use some prayers today. I am out of sorts. I am emotionally tired.

Again, it seems odd to ‘like’ that Kim needs prayers, but I am praying.

We need a “I will” or a “my sympathy” button. 😉
