Prayer Requests 8-12-14

Anyone have a request or praise they’d like to share today?

Psalm 42

¹As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.

My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?

My tears have been my meat day and night, while they continually say unto me, Where is thy God?

When I remember these things, I pour out my soul in me: for I had gone with the multitude, I went with them to the house of God, with the voice of joy and praise, with a multitude that kept holyday.

Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance.

O my God, my soul is cast down within me: therefore will I remember thee from the land of Jordan, and of the Hermonites, from the hill Mizar.

Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy waterspouts: all thy waves and thy billows are gone over me.

Yet the Lord will command his lovingkindness in the day time, and in the night his song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the God of my life.

I will say unto God my rock, Why hast thou forgotten me? why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?

10 As with a sword in my bones, mine enemies reproach me; while they say daily unto me, Where is thy God?

11 Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.

  1. I got this as an attachment to an email I received from a friend I knew in seminary. I haven’t seen him since 1962, but we still correspond. I can’t vouch for it’s accuracy, but it looks genuine to me. We need to keep these people in our prayers, always. This appears to be
somewhat old, so I don’t know the status vis a vis the Kurds.

    Dear Friends,

Just a few minutes ago I received the following text message on my phone from Sean Malone who leads Crisis Relief International (CRI). We then spoke briefly on the phone and I assured him that we would share this urgent prayer need with all of our contacts.

“We lost the city of Queragosh (Qaraqosh). It fell to ISIS and they are beheading children systematically. This is the city we have been smuggling food too. ISIS has pushed back Peshmerga (Kurdish forces) and is within 10 minutes of where our CRI team is working. Thousands more fled into the city of Erbil last night. The UN evacuated it’s staff in Erbil. Our team is unmoved and will stay. Prayer cover needed!”

Let’s continue to pray for 6arrows today.

Please continue to pray for complete healing for husband. He worked yesterday, but had a bad night, last night.

  3. The silence of what is happening to Christians in those areas still surprises me, I’ll admit.

Few issues have been so easily ignored & swept under the rug, it seems, by our government and our fellow citizens. I’ve been posting about it on FB for some time now and I have to say those posts get very little response from anyone other than fellow Christians — others who all the time are posting about injustices of every other kind (the homeless, racial minorities, even animals) seem to be able to just look away when it comes to this issue. 😦

Our president said virtually nothing about it until he announced the limited air strikes.

    What gives?

  4. I didn’t mean for my post to squelch any other requests. As I said once before, all concerns have equal status with God. They’re all trivial under his power.
    Nothing too big.
    Nothing too small
It’s all the same with God.

  5. I’m afraid I thought, the president could speak about Robin William’s suicide within hours but has yet to point out the genocide of Christians in Iraq.

    There is no comparison.

  6. OK, in the “trivial” category, I may have a slow/gradual water leak under my house. Pray this won’t be a huge issue and/or one that’s too expensive to fix. 😦

  7. Donna, it won’t be trivial at all if you don’t get it fixed soon. Water isn’t supposed to be under the house.
    I’m praying about that too.

  8. I know Chas, a friend is supposed try to check it out. He said he had a slow leak in his house which he never could find (he’s in real estate and is very knowledgeable about houses), but he said he thinks he can pinpoint this one and (hope-and-pray) it might be a simple fix.

Pray also for my two friends:

C, who had major abdominal surgery last week and remains hospitalized, is getting stronger physically but due to the surgery they can’t give her the psychiatric meds she’s been on (nothing by mouth yet, apparently) and she’s feeling very depressed. Her doctor was supposed to stop by later today so I’m hoping she can tell him, she’s already told the nurses. She was very tearful when she called me today, and I’m wondering also if the news about Robin Williams has hit home, although she’s not be suicidal, but does get depressed (technically she’s paranoid/schizophrenic but that is pretty well controlled with the meds that she now isn’t getting).

My other friend from church, N, found out yesterday she has sarcoma (not lymphoma as she was previously told) and needs to go through more tests. The oncologist also is concerned whether she could endure a surgery which may be needed due to her long-standing heart condition. So she’s feeling very tired & frustrated also — she’s very weary of all the tests, uncertainty, worry and long waits in between the dribble of information that comes from the doctors. Her GP has been especially inefficient and poor about communication. This all has been going on since May.

  9. Update: C left a phone message a little while ago and things are looking up — they’ve got her back on her psych meds & are (finally) letting her drink water. And her pastor is (hopefully) coming to visit her tomorrow, she also was bothered by that, I’d let the church know about her surgery last week but it’s taken all this time for them to get out for a visit with her. 😦
