Anyone have a request or praise they’d like to share this weekend?
Psalm 40
¹I waited patiently for the Lord; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.
2 He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.
3 And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord.
4 Blessed is that man that maketh the Lord his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.
5 Many, O Lord my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.
6 Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required.
7 Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me,
8 I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.
9 I have preached righteousness in the great congregation: lo, I have not refrained my lips, O Lord, thou knowest.
10 I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation: I have not concealed thy lovingkindness and thy truth from the great congregation.
11 Withhold not thou thy tender mercies from me, O Lord: let thy lovingkindness and thy truth continually preserve me.
12 For innumerable evils have compassed me about: mine iniquities have taken hold upon me, so that I am not able to look up; they are more than the hairs of mine head: therefore my heart faileth me.
13 Be pleased, O Lord, to deliver me: O Lord, make haste to help me.
14 Let them be ashamed and confounded together that seek after my soul to destroy it; let them be driven backward and put to shame that wish me evil.
15 Let them be desolate for a reward of their shame that say unto me, Aha, aha.
16 Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: let such as love thy salvation say continually, The Lord be magnified.
17 But I am poor and needy; yet the Lord thinketh upon me: thou art my help and my deliverer; make no tarrying, O my God.
Yesterday I took BG to the endocrinologist for her 6 month check up. Her thyroid was a little swollen and since she had not had a sonogram on it in several years they did one. They also drew more blood ( she was thrilled) to check her Vitamin D and calcium levels. This is a praise and prayer request.
First I am so glad a friend spoke up, pulled some strings, and got us in to see one of the best endocrinologists in our area 4 years ago.
Second is to pray that all continues to go well.
I’ve heard a lot of about vitamin D deficiencies, too. Weird, but the sunscreen/hats theory actually makes sense. We’re all very careful to apply sunscreen year round in California. And even most makeups now include a healthy level of sunscreen as part of their formulas.
I only use sunscreen on my face and for the first part of summer. Once I have a tan, I rarely use it. I feel better. I also take vitamin D. I do live rather far north 🙂
I’m now taking a D3 supplement after I heard one of those medical shows say many people should be taking it.
Just visited my friend C in the hospital, she had emergency surgery late Tuesday night for a perforated colon and had (I think this is what they said) a Sub Total Colectomy. They removed a lot, basically. I’m not sure if this will involve a permanent bag or not, we didn’t talk about it today as she’s still really struggling and in a lot of pain. She’s getting transfusions and when I asked the nurse about that she just said her body was in sub-par condition overall when they did the surgery and they’re not trying to get everything back into better working order.
We prayed and I brought her the paperback edition of “Unbroken” which she’s wanted to read (she’s a voracious reader). She has her kindle with her so that helps, but she is very tired.
Pray that her recovery continues and that she can regain her strength — she is a believer. Sounded like she’d be in the hospital at least through the first of the week and then (I’m guessing) will have to go to a rehab before she can go home, which is her room in a retirement center.
Her brother is monitoring the medical specifics from NJ and has been talking to the doctor.
😦 Argeree’s cat took up with Elvera. Now Elvera had to choose between me and a white cat. It was a tough decision, but a cat can’t keep her car running. So she decided she’d leave it behind..
A five year old boy got stuck under a load of grain in a grain truck a couple of days ago. Up to his chest in grain. They got him out and life flighted him out to a hospital. He is doing well, recovering nicely. Thanks, God. One of the neighbors, Catholics.
Thank You for another precious Sunday when we were free to worship You at a local church. Hearts are heavy for the Christians left and fleeing Iraq. May those who have been beheaded not have died in vain because they are showing the world the difference in belief in a false god and the One true God. Please comfort those who have witnessed such crimes againt humanity. Also, I pray for Israel to be covered by You wings of protection. Lord, terrorism threatens from all sides. Make safe, as only You are able, all the shelters from bombing or other offenses.
Lord, please keep Amos in You good care as he continues to show signs of an ailment. Please keep BG within the good numbers on lab reports. Help Kim in all her various areas of struggle until she is able to feel settled and rested in Your provision once again.
Please be a felt comforting presence with Donna’s friend. Help her status to move upwards toward Above Par. Keep her pain managable. Please help her to feel up to reading a good book.
I ask continuing blessings upon Mumsee and the Nest. Thank You for the rescue of the neighbor boy. Please help Mike with health issues. You know all the needs of their big family. Please help love, hope, peace and faith to daily be prevailing over any other attitudes that may be stirred up for a moment.
I ask blessings for Jo to be having a good week. May her time with the quints be a special blessing (5 times the fun). Please help her class to appreciate all she does and listen intently to her good instruction and her teaching about Jesus.
Please continue to bless Tim’s recovery. Bless Lee as he struggles through his work days. Please help my husband to meet all the emands of his work with thoroughness and accuracy. Please be a help to all the husbands who are trying to dheir best th too much on their plates. Help those who have pain or affliction that may make them seem grumpy. Please give good family times to those who are able to take vacation days.

I would be surprised if a woman in southern Alabama had a vitamin D deficiency.

For some reason it is almost epidemic around here. Some are blaming it on all the sunscreen we use.

I’ve heard that since people started using sunscreen religiously, skin cancer rates have gone up. Wondering what the relation is.

Kim – We take vitamin D, also. I wonder if sunscreen is blocking the good effects of the sun as well as the bad.

Sorry I posted on the wrong thread. I thought I was on R & R.
