Anyone have a request or praise to share today?
Psalm 26
1 Vindicate me, Lord,
for I have led a blameless life;
I have trusted in the Lord
and have not faltered.
2 Test me, Lord, and try me,
examine my heart and my mind;
3 for I have always been mindful of your unfailing love
and have lived in reliance on your faithfulness.
4 I do not sit with the deceitful,
nor do I associate with hypocrites.
5 I abhor the assembly of evildoers
and refuse to sit with the wicked.
6 I wash my hands in innocence,
and go about your altar, Lord,
7 proclaiming aloud your praise
and telling of all your wonderful deeds.
8 Lord, I love the house where you live,
the place where your glory dwells.
9 Do not take away my soul along with sinners,
my life with those who are bloodthirsty,
10 in whose hands are wicked schemes,
whose right hands are full of bribes.
11 I lead a blameless life;
deliver me and be merciful to me.
12 My feet stand on level ground;
in the great congregation I will praise the Lord.
Prayers for our workplace. It seems that so many are going through really hard times, including seriously ill parents who need care (one of our key reporters is out now indefinitely taking care of his mother who has terminal brain cancer).
There also continues to be a lot of overall tension and, to use a famous Jimmy Carter word, malaise. We have another reporter quitting in the next couple weeks, he and his family have started a couple restaurants and he’s going to try to make a full-time go of that. And our restaurant ad saleswoman is leaving which will be a huge loss on that end of the building. In the newsroom we’re down to literally a handful of us, all struggling under an editor who seems to be increasingly in a foul mood. 😦
Meanwhile, we do have some needed “new blood” a young reporter has been transferred over from one of our weeklies in the area to take the place of our reporter who decided not to come back after maternity leave. She’s so enthusiastic and sits next to me, so pray for me, that I can be helpful. The good news is she’ll be covering the same beach cities she covered for the weekly so can pretty much hit the ground running.
Continued prayers, also, for my friend who had the intestinal surgery over the weekend (I haven’t heard from her today but left her brother in NJ messages yesterday); and I FINALLY located my friend with Parkinson’s who vanished sometime right before Christmas. Turns out he’s in a convalescent facility just a few blocks from where I live so I plan to get over to visit him maybe this weekend. It’s just good to know where he is after having made probably a dozen phone calls over the weeks after the holidays. It dawned on me yesterday that I should go through his FB friends list to see if anyone sounded familiar as a “close” friend he may have mentioned to me in the past — and I found someone right away who got back to me.

Yesterday I mentioned Lee’s needing help on his route for his three tough days. Emily decided that she would work with him on Mondays & Thursdays. That would make a couple very long days for her (& for me as the babysitter, which would interfere with some other things I need to do around here).
I suggested that maybe Chrissy could work one of those days with Lee, but she says she can’t handle, mentally/emotionally, working with him (due to her Asperger’s). (Emily rebuked her, telling her, “You can & you will“.)
(Note: Chrissy does not use Asperger’s as an excuse, & in fact did not mention it in what she said.)
I had thought about working with him, knowing the 12-hour days (starting be getting up at midnight) & physical work would be grueling for me at first, but I’d get used to it. But I realize, & I’m sure Lee will agree, that my assignment from God at this time in my life is to take care of Forrest, being a loving, godly influence in his life.
Please pray for unity in our family, along with a spirit of cooperation, & wisdom & insight for dealing with Chrissy. Thank you.
(Looking forward to a time when I don’t have so many prayer requests to share.)

Lee says that just because Emily says she’s going to work two of those days with him doesn’t mean he’ll actually take her up on the offer. He also said that for some reason, working with Chrissy slows him down a bit.
As I was fretting a bit about the situation, he kind of yelled at me, “Let God handle it!”
Okay, Lord, please handle it for my husband, & help me to stop fretting.

Turns out we misunderstood the message on the machine and he is getting the job. Goes in about three or four weeks from the sound of it. Prayer for wisdom on the prep work ahead. Thanks.

Oh good, Mumsee. I hope it won’t be a long-term situation of him living elsewhere?

Heavenly Father
It’s been a quiet, peaceful and sunny day of continuing recouperation. Thank You for again seeing me through one of life’s illnesses.
Thank You for those here who have work a plenty to do when many want to work but do not have a job. You are quite aware of the ongoing difficulties in Donna’s industry and newsroom. Give her stamina and patience. Help her to be a ready help for the new one beside her. I pray You will give her ever increasing trust in how You have her covered continuously with Your care. Please keep her pets in good health. Help her friends, especially those who have health issues. Thank You for the skill set You have given her. She continually shines the light of Jesus into this needy world.
Lord, please help Karen O’s husband to work out the way he can best achieve the demands of his work. Make a clear path that will bless Karen’s family and another family. who is looking to supplement their income. Please continue to give Forrest a good system for receiving love and the beginnings of early education. Please help Emily as she works hard on her goals. Please keep a firm bond between all the family members despite differing needs
I ask also for all to go smoothly with Idaho Mike’s prep. Please be in the midst of all planning so no detail is forgotten. Thank You for meeting the needs of their family. May the family establish new ways to experience closeness even when physically miles apart. You are awesome, Lord, in how You transcend time and distance. May many thanks be given toYou. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

mumsee, a year and a half sounds like a long time to me. 😦 Prayers that it all goes smoothly and there will be some time to come back home interspersed in there.

That seems so long to me, too. A man’s got to do what a man’s got to do, though. I pray the time goes by quickly.
Karen, I will pray that the right person is found to help your husband out. There are people who need just a day or two of work a week. People who get some pensions, SS or even unemployment can earn a certain amount, but penalized if they go over. Some just want to get out a couple of days a week. God knows the person who may be looking just for what your husband needs.

It seems like a very very long time to me, but thinking about it like that never helps. Soooo, I prefer to think of it as much less than say, twenty years.
