Prayer Requests 10-23-13

Who has a request or praise to share today?

And it’s Wednesday, so don’t forget The Gambia and those working there. And I know you’ll all join me in continued prayers for Ajisuun and her family. Thanks folks.

Psalm 68:1-19

¹Let God arise, let his enemies be scattered: let them also that hate him flee before him.

As smoke is driven away, so drive them away: as wax melteth before the fire, so let the wicked perish at the presence of God.

But let the righteous be glad; let them rejoice before God: yea, let them exceedingly rejoice.

Sing unto God, sing praises to his name: extol him that rideth upon the heavens by his name Jah, and rejoice before him.

A father of the fatherless, and a judge of the widows, is God in his holy habitation.

God setteth the solitary in families: he bringeth out those which are bound with chains: but the rebellious dwell in a dry land.

O God, when thou wentest forth before thy people, when thou didst march through the wilderness; Selah:

The earth shook, the heavens also dropped at the presence of God: even Sinai itself was moved at the presence of God, the God of Israel.

Thou, O God, didst send a plentiful rain, whereby thou didst confirm thine inheritance, when it was weary.

10 Thy congregation hath dwelt therein: thou, O God, hast prepared of thy goodness for the poor.

11 The Lord gave the word: great was the company of those that published it.

12 Kings of armies did flee apace: and she that tarried at home divided the spoil.

13 Though ye have lien among the pots, yet shall ye be as the wings of a dove covered with silver, and her feathers with yellow gold.

14 When the Almighty scattered kings in it, it was white as snow in Salmon.

15 The hill of God is as the hill of Bashan; an high hill as the hill of Bashan.

16 Why leap ye, ye high hills? this is the hill which God desireth to dwell in; yea, the Lord will dwell in it for ever.

17 The chariots of God are twenty thousand, even thousands of angels: the Lord is among them, as in Sinai, in the holy place.

18 Thou hast ascended on high, thou hast led captivity captive: thou hast received gifts for men; yea, for the rebellious also, that the Lord God might dwell among them.

19 Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah.

  1. Please pray for peace in this valley. We are safe, but there is fighting nearby. People are wisely staying home, employees not coming to work, haus meris and yard men not coming and those who usually sell at market are not able to travel. My haus meri lives where the fighting is, as do many others. Many walk here from two hours away.

  2. Ajisuun posted on FB last night: Dad went to his true home last night. No more pain. Went peacefully in his sleep with the family there. Let us pray for her today, as she is so far away from her family and grieving.

  3. I prayed in the night on yesterday’s thread for Ajisuun’s dad and the family.

    HeavenlyFather,

I pray for safety for Jo and all those with whom she is in relationship. You know what is causing this stirring up of violence and the ways to halt it. Please act quickly, Lord,to bring peace to the land and its inhabitants. I pray for no loss of life or injury to the innocents. Please bolster the people’s courage and trust in You so they will not live in constant fear. May they feel your presense and full control. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen

  5. Praying for Ajisuun and her family, as well as for Jo and Janice.

Last night L.’s neurologist called (the nurse, actually) and said that her EEG was abnormal. The doctor (Dr. Sloan) wants her to have an MRI asap and to come to her office next Monday for the results. We were originally scheduled for a follow-up in late November–but they feel it’s important she be seen sooner. I was given just enough information to make me really nervous. According to the web, abnormal EEG’s can be caused by many things, from serious problems such as a brain tumor, brain injury, epilepsy, stroke, or by more benign things like migraines. I’m trying to hold on to the hope that it’s simply migraines. But, I’m scared. Please pray it’s nothing serious and pray that I would know the peace of Jesus during this difficult period of waiting and the unknown.

Also, Becca is scheduled for testing on Friday at the school she is hoping to attend. She sometimes experiences pretty severe anxiety. Prayers, please, for her nerves and that she’d do well enough to be admitted, as I don’t have a plan B right now.

    Thanks!

  6. My dad is supposed to be able to go home tomorrow with a continuous pump. There are some details still to be worked out, but it is amazing that he will be allowed home this soon. Pray for those details to come together.

My prayers for the concerns mentioned, also.

  7. From ajisuun on fb:

“My dad is home now. Truly home. He passed away peacefully in his sleep just hours after arriving home from the hospital. He had a chance to give some of the great-grandchildren the gifts that he had already purchased for Christmas. My sister, Ruth, had just arrived from PA and found him comfortably sleeping. Within a very short time, when they went to check him, they found that he had gone to be with Jesus. No more pain. Praising God for a life well lived.”

    Services are Friday in Tennessee.

  8. Prayers for our problem child. I’ve been trying to imagine what led him to comment in such an ugly way yesterday of all days. I wonder if something didn’t happen to trigger it–fear of death?

We should also pray for those involved in his local hospice. Why would you take on a volunteer who is so negative, no matter what his spiritual beliefs? Things aren’t adding up.

But then, I didn’t read much of the details.

Please pray for Mr. P’s oldest son. He is at the DCVAMC in a lot of pain with high blood pressure. He is only 29.

  10. Like michelle, I’d wondered, too, what was up with our friend. I saw the posts last night when I finished work and didn’t know what to make of much of it. There certainly is some inner distress apparent, I’d say, more than usual. Unfortunately, that gets expressed outwardly in a rather angry manner.
