Prayer Requests 10-17-13

Who has a request or praise to share today?

Psalm 63

¹O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;

To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary.

Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee.

Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name.

My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips:

When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches.

Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice.

My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me.

But those that seek my soul, to destroy it, shall go into the lower parts of the earth.

10 They shall fall by the sword: they shall be a portion for foxes.

11 But the king shall rejoice in God; every one that sweareth by him shall glory: but the mouth of them that speak lies shall be stopped.

  1. I have to get a crown this morning. Please pray I will do okay at the dentist office. My last experience with a crown was not pleasant. This is the initial visit for the temporary. Thank you for praying about this minor thing.

  2. I would appreciate prayers for my dad. He had to be admitted into the hospital last night and it seems he will be there awhile. He has a bacterial infection and is being treated for both pneumonia (a usual occurrence in his life) and a possible tick bite. I know he hasn’t been feeling well for awhile.

  3. Prayers requested for Becca tomorrow. As stated on the daily thread, she will be shadowing a second grader at Salem Lutheran School tomorrow from 8:00-11:00. I am praying it is a good fit, as I’ve run out of options. She has anxiety sometimes and I’m hoping she feels comfortable in the environment. The school seems solid theologically and academically. It feeds into the high school my older daughter will attend next fall.

My sister and her husband and youngest child made it safely to Kibigora, Rwanda. Thanks for the prayers!

Also, my neighbor and friend, Cindy, had a biopsy the other day b/c she’s been having trouble swallowing. Cancer runs rampant in her family and she is worried. She is 47 and has two young children, 8 & 9 years old. Please pray the problems she’s experiencing aren’t serious and can be corrected easily.

  4. Heavenly Father,

It’s around 4:30 a.m. and a good time to visit with You. You are ever ready to listen to me. Help me to always be in listening mode to you.

Thank You for my friends here who are believers. They add sweetness along with salt and light to my life. You are so good to bring us all together.

I lift up Kathaleena’s father to You for healing of his disease and various afflictions. Help him to receive excellent care and the proper meds. May he feel the love of family and may he be aware of Your presence with him throughout his present difficulties. Thank You for giving him faithful family members who will lift him up frequently in persistent prayers.

I ask, Father God, that You go before Becca into the school she is to visit later today . Please make a good path for her to trod. May she feel blessed by the encounters she has with the students and teachers. May she have a good and true understanding of how she could be a good fit in this school. I pray this school will prove to be the one You would have that will meet all the needs of Becca and her family. May there be other parents who would become good friends and encouragement in Christian fellowship. Please give Becca a calm spirit and confidence as she goes forward today into the unknown. May Your love and guidance be a felt presence in each step she takes this day. I pray in the name of Jesus, Amen

  5. Father God, I also lift up the friend, Cindy, that You would ease her anxiety. Help her in her struggle to confront the dread of cancer.I pray it won’t be that, but only You have knowledge of the plans You have for each person. If she has to go through the dread disease, I pray for You to give her spiritual growth and wisdom to see her and her family through. May love conquer all her troubles. Love is timeless and has no boundaries for the Christian. Love, the kind of love You give, transcends all illness and affliction and has even conquered death. May Cindy be wrapped in Your love throughout these days of wondering and waiting. I pray in the name of Jesus, Amen
